Sorry, but I ran a casing crew in the early to mid 80s. The Welders come out, throw one bead, then sit till 4000-12000 feet of casing is ran. The crews on the deck work 10 times harder and don't need a union.

Reminds me a bit of an old tale about a town with only two barbers across the street from one another. The first had a fancy shop, groomed and dressed to perfection. The second, didnt even have a working barber pole. He had 3 days growth of beard and a squirrel nest on his head. The question...which barber do you go to? Obviously , not to the barber that creates squirrel nests.

Why does everyone always have to run there mouth about union or nonunion welders it takes both to make the world go around I've worked nonunion for years then went union and there's good and bad welders in both, if you have to get in here and talk trash you must be worried about your craftmanship

@fireman549549 lol naa man not that bad i am non union but its not that easy with a union worker most my buddies are. and the 798 is rougly 44hr. but doing pipe welding in general pays well. but i will say this about union guys. if you do sheet metal and there is pipe in your way. you wont touch it you wait for a pipe guy to roll around and grab it because to them its not there job to move it. anyway 798 guys are the elite group.

@fireman549549 i worked a union job that was like that at a steel mill. But now im working pipeline and I can assure you welders earn there money.. Sometime there under the hood for two three hours and the only break the get is long enough to move to the next weld 80' away.. Thats not to mention they are doing that 16 hours a day at times. Now us X-ray hands, thats a different story...

Great looking trucks, If any of you are ever in Houston Texas be careful, I had a nice welding rig stolen and in 3 hours they took the bed, and all tools, welder,leads, transmission, transfer case and all contents. The police said it had happened 4 times that same week. My advise is to skip Houston if passing through.
