There is a Faroese ballad called Ólavur Riddararós... The story is quite similar, and I know there are several other versions of the story over all of the nordic countries... Is this one of them?

For the love of God, do not start to compare Gåte to this, they sound like Offspring, with violas. If you wanna check out other good Norwegian "folk" I would recommend Valkyrien Allstars. And some of the "black folk" is good, i.e. Ulver.
