  • @tubesbestmusic Thank you, Tom.

  • I expect videos like this to be pretentious and for that I'm sorry. After several videos I can see and hear the honesty in you and it's refreshing.

  • @lastlivingsoul09 Thanks for leaving such a thoughtful response. I appreciate the feedback.

  • I really love that deep melancholy in your voice.

And your songwriting is incredible good, you know, it leaves you enough space for your own thoughts! Great!

  • Lulls you in with a gentle melodic touch and then eats away at you with barely repressed frustration.

In a good way, of course. ;-)

    5*****

  • Thanks, Louise! I appreciate it.

  • You're really good at writing lyrics, in addition to melody and accompaniment. And you make it sound easy, real smooth presentation.

  • Very good self-penned song, RevelingInReverie. Soulful singing, and mellow guitar playing. The music reflects the anguish in your lyrics. Snapped string, alternate guitar tuning...you're very resourceful! Thumbs up.

  • Thanks, Sven! Good to hear from you.

  • WOW! very sensitively sung. The words are terrific. The articulation of 'there' at the end of the first verse is particularly haunting. Encore!

  • Thank you, Steve. It's not the happiest of songs. I'm glad you liked it.

  • no, but its well crafted - i love the melody - i wish i could flow with lyrics - ive got loads of great music without lyrics :( i do write them but i find it really difficult

  • and I've got loads of lyrics with no music! :)

  • i love the guitar and your voice.. i really liked this! 5 stars!!!

  • Thanks, laura!

  • Great melody, chords are really interesting... nice vid too. I think this song could do with a crescendo around the 4th verse to contrast the whispery beginning...?

  • Thanks for stopping by to listen, and thanks for the suggestions!

  • Wow. Very powerful. Haunting.

    David

  • A fellow native Kansan :) Thanks for listening, David!

    THX *****

    Kisses-Kurt...

  • Hi Kurt,

    Thank you as always!

  • Hello Karen,

It is so good to have you back with an original song. I LOVE both music and singing and also your lyrics of course. It's a fragile song, and you sing it so beautifuly.

    Wonderful, simply wornderful.

Thanks for sharing this one with us.

    A bientôt,

    Chris

  • Hi Chris!

Thanks for stopping by. You always write the nicest things! :)

    Take care,

    Karen

  • I love this, it's beautiful. you're an amazing songwriter this is such deep stuff. Wow.

  • Thanks!

  • You are killing me softly with your song.Impressive rendition, nicely done.

  • Thanks, hokurin!

  • squeaky strings can be real annoying. I tried everything. And the one and only solution is this: ELEXIR strings. Perdiod. (I tried ALL strings available) and these Elexir are maybe a bit expensive (22€) but they last 2x as long AND NO squeaky noize.

    Nice video!

    Pascal.

  • Hey Pascal,

They are Elixir strings! :) I love them, and I wouldn't get anything else. They've helped alot. I think the chord progression of this song makes it a little bit unavoidable. The squeak is just so irritating. I agree with your recommendation, though. Elixir strings are great! Thanks for watching

  • Tommy Emmanuel uses a little trick: he humidifies his left hand fingers with a little sweat from his forehead (just a touch tough...) of course, if you are not sweating....lol.

  • I'm a hopeless cause :)

  • Lovely haunting melody :) you can lift your fingers off the strings instead of sliding them down...sometimes you can also just release the pressure and slide lightly down the strings..sometimes also the squeak is unavoidable depending on the song setup itself.

    great tune :)

  • Thanks for the recommendations. I'll keep working on it! Thanks for listening :)

  • Toujours aussi lumineuse

It's so nice to see you again, specially after all these months.

    Haunting, Lovely...Just RevelingInReverie

(I hope, secretly, that one day you'll post a bad work with a dreadful rendition.

I could change, at last, my vocabulary and be more 'constructive'.

But, after a video like this, It's hopeless...)

    P.S : I found the 'surround' sound : Just Sensational !

    Sébastien

  • Hi Sébastien,

You're too nice! Thanks for such supportive comments. Glad to see you stopped by.

    Take care,

    -Karen

  • I love it! You put the adult in adult contemporary :) this is grown up, intelligent and wonderful.. and as always, you're fearless, like that sustained note, exceptional only happens without fear

  • Not such pleasant subject matter, but I needed to get it out of my system. As always, thanks for your comments, Rob. I'm always grateful!

  • it's good and very "drownning me"

  • Thank you!

  • Karen!!! I love it! I'm so glad you posted a new video :)

    You're fabulous!! :D

  • Hi Michelle,

    Thanks so much. You're awesome!

  • Love the haunting melody, songs got potential!

    Rick

  • Thanks for watching, Rick!

  • I don't use this word often (I think it gets used too much) but this is haunting...such a sad and beautiful melody, and you have an incredibly lovely voice.

  • Thank you, Sharron.

  • Phonomenal Karen. Sounds amazing.

I can't wait to hear our colab.

    This is beautiful! WELL DONE!!!

  • Hey Gary! Thanks for listening :)

    Hopefully soon!

  • Fantastic job, Karen ! 10 stars !

You're very talented, my friend !

I know it's hard to sing and play.

I'm doing that in the band when our

lead singer can't make practices. :-)
