  • why do you always get the sword or LBL, it's useless

    get the flamethrower

  • Can I pass Robocop 3 second level somehow?

  • Like most of u guys... i had the same robocop 3 pirated cartridge and i was looking for this game for more than 4 days but yesterday i`ve managed to find it! Solbrain is way better than Shatterhand :D :P

  • Both of them look pretty good to me

  • Tokkyuu Shirei Solbrain Famicom game is based a Super Sentai (not to be confused with Hentai) live action TV series for Japan(so no ActionCarl Shatterhand did not come first) and like so many Super Sentai games on Famicom we got a butchered NES port just like the Power Blade game that was something else.

  • the solbrain sprites for the money and main guy look like shit, it's obvious shatterhand came first and then got half-assedly redrawn for a tv tie-in

  • @ActionCarl WTF are you talking about the Shatterhand sprite looks poor compared to the cyborg looking one. They managed to sell it as a Robocop III cart to many of us for a reason.

  • havent played this game for a while..

  • I love this game. I prefer Solbrain over Shatterhand, but both are excellent.

It's interesting that Area C was changed from an Amusement Park to a Submarine for the NES game. Both stages are fun and have great music.

It's also worth noting that some of the bosses are different. In Solbrain, there are 2 female bosses at the end of Area C, who are replaced by the boss of Area B in Shatterhand. Shatterhand's Area B boss is now a pair of robots...

  • I used to play this game on the NES. I wanted to find this game but it was hard to find. Because the cart I had back then was called Robocop 3.

  • Exactly the same with me !!!!!! Damn you cant imagine how long i "googled" to find it.

  • @PaulNat360

Exactly,I had the same Robocop 3 black cartridge and I was looking for this game like crazy because of the false name.

  • @PaulNat360

Exactly,I had the same Robocop 3 black cartridge and I was looking for this game like crazy because of the false name.

Awesome game and the soundtrack is just Amazing, one of the best music on the nes in my opinion with TMNT the manhattan project.

  • @PaulNat360 Puff same here!

  • @PaulNat360 LOL SAME MAN! I found it by accident once... the japanese one is way better!

  • @PaulNat360 same in serbia.

  • I found this games yesterday. They have really good animations.

  • I had the solbrain as a "robocop" pirated cartidge, but when I searched for the Shatterhand rom I noticed a stage and some bosses are modified.. heck, the last area is different. They did a decent job changing a game somewhat from the other.

  • I had the SAME robocop cart. !!!

Only afew months ago i discovered that the game is Solbrain.

  • Me too! I had that Robocop cart (Robocop 4 I think it was written...) and a couple years ago found it was Solbrain. Thet game has one of the most AWESOME soundtracks I've ever heard. I'm from Argentina BTW...

  • @nikito370

    this game is very good

  • @Astraknight

I had the same thing it was a black and heavy cartridge =D

  • @Astraknight I had it too! The game was glitched so the boss at Stage 2 looped over and over and I never managed to get any further no matter how many times I beat him! I had headaches for months trying to figure out what was I doing wrong!

  • @MasterMacLeod Hell yeah! I remember playing it like hell but never managed to get past stage 2 lol! I used to beat up this elevator boss over and over again for nothing lol!

I also remember pausing the game and holding SELECT button + up did restore your health, or something like that...

  • @SeiyaK0u That SELECT thing I didn't know... Maybe I will look for the rom to try it some day.

  • @MasterMacLeod It's actually u press START + UP simultaneously, but this will only work on pirated cartridge. I was also stuck on stage 2 where the boss fight had loop over and over again, again this is the pirated cartridge, but i did enjoy kicking his ass!! =D

  • @orochi316 My cart was pirated too... but I never tried that. You see, I was so obsessed with defeating the looping boss from Stage 2, I managed to get almost unharmed through both stages, only to get stuck there.

  • the guy playing the game sucks ass but the game itself is magnificent.

  • the superhero time lasts more in solbrain...those 15 seconds last more like 45 and in shatterhand like 30

  • I think Tokkey is better. The Tokkey hero fit game theme much more. I not really sure that Shatterhand was first.

  • I gotta go with Japanese version... FTW

  • You got to go with elitist fanwhoredom all the way, PsicJaden. By the way, did you also notice that the poster of this video never even showed covers to either game?

  • Both Iku Mizutani and Kouichi Yamanishi did an mazing job with the game's musical themes.

    Great video, BTW.

  • el mejor juego del NES a mi consideracio incluso mucho mejor que muchos del SUPER NES XD

  • I don't know wich is the original, but I used to play the Jap. version when I was a child and I still thinking that was one of the BEST games ever made in that time.

Maybe better than much games for the SNES

  • yea dude i played the jap version of this game as well.i remember it being called super rescue in my cart.but anyways i was never able to beat it since at stage 3 or 2 there the boss never dies no matter how many times you kill him he keeps coming back :(

  • Maybe you did something wrong.

  • LOVE this game! Awesome music, Natsume had a knack for putting great music in their games.

Ill say this, the last level is a bitch to get thru...but VERY possible once you learn it (like any NES game I suppose). But this was a very under appreciated game no doubt

  • You were close, Solbrain is by Toei Company, not their Animation studio, but still thanks for uploading this vid. ^_^

  • Nice to see this game again! This was one of the last awesome games for the Nes!! I played this every chance I got!! I could beat it without losin' I life! I, unfortunately, sold it and haven't found it since. That sucks. :( Cool video though!

  • I like the look of the character more in this version.

  • I actually downloaded that Tokkyuu Shirei - Solbrain today, and played it through in 20 minutes.

  • I've got both versions of this game.

And it's pretty weird, because the Submarine stage is replaced in the japanese version, as an fun park, which is pretty fun.

And some of the bosses looks have changed in japanese version.

  • search Google for English version

    Tokkyuu Shirei - Solbrain (J) [T+Eng1.01_AGTP]

  • in my cartridge it says Robocop 3

  • Heh. Mine too. Pirated, presumably.

  • i used to have too much famicom pirated games :(

  • There was actually a real Robocop 3 game that was made for the NES interestingly enough, cLaRkDamn.

  • yesh ive played that one .. it was quite hard... never get past the "flying" part tho :(

  • Este juego lo jugaba cuando era chico (el del robot comercializado como ROBOCOP3). Me trajo muchos recuerdos. Que nostalgia!!!

    Gracias por el post

  • I've never seen this game before, but I think that it shares a lot of code with the batman game for nes

  • this game has really good music kinda like double dragon music

  • The fate of the world is in his hands: a fist full of power.

  • japanese version wouldn't let me play level 3,it just makes me fight the ninja boss over and over again..does anyone else have this problem?

  • yeah I remember having this problem like, idk, 15 years ago when I had it on my nes...

  • yeah i had the same...that pissed me off

  • yea same for me.. I tought that must fight by a special way but the ninja appeared again.

  • thats true...meaybe it was a stupid bug or...i dont know but the game is stiil awesome ;]

  • exactly the same problem! we thought we hadn't enough points for entering the next stage.... lol

  • I played the japanese version on Famicon when I was a child... that does not used to happen

  • this has got to be one of the best licensed games not made by konami.

japanese ver didn't get a cool intro like the US one though.

  • This was a kickass game, one of my favorite NES action games along Journey to Silius and Blaster Master.

  • Didn't really know this about Shatterhand... still, a cool game with even cooler soundtrack.

  • Jap version is better than US version :D

  • lol nevermind...my bad coz i dont see all movie :D

  • can u whrite me both version of this game???...shatter hand ok and ???

  • THE BEST GAME EVER MADE!!!

  • Both versions are badass go suck ur xbox's cock if u dont like it

  • define bad?

    Jap version > US version

  • this game is good any other way ^_^

  • I kinda wish Solbrain had the GigaStreamer(Chain Machine Gun-like, Super Gun)that would really kick ass ! It was given to him by his old Predecessor, Winspector in Episode 23 ! Also Solbrain was made in (1991) that 2 years before The word, or Show, Power Rangers ever came to be, in (1993) ! that makes me wonder what Americans would ever call soulbrain, before The word power rangers was ever invented ! I'm guessing Robotman, Robocop, or even Dynaman, or Bioman !

  • Isn't the 'Special' supergun you get by picking the same 'helper' code at the end of the Japanese video the GigaStreamer?

  • What ever people think of what was better, US, or Japanese, Eder way Solbrain was still a kick ass show ! also the officer guy, is Hiroshi Miyauchi ! he is the first Blue Ranger in history, he is also KamenRider-V3, Zubat, & Big One from JAKQ ! Also the Game is fare from the Actual tv show, Also this Game makes Solbrain look more like his successers the Vr Troopers, & The big bad Beetle Borgs ! the tv show it self was more like Dekaranger, & GoGo-V !

  • I prefer the US version. I'm not a fan of Japanese Power Ranger style stuff. I like how the main guy in the US game just looks like some dude :P

  • I like robots, but I have to agree that some dude blowing stuff up with his fists is simply awesome. I guess thay have the western market pegged!

  • I've been searching for this game. Thanks for putting it up, comrade. At least now, I know what it's called.

  • Shatterhand had a weird plot compared to Solbrain, but I acutally think they're both fun games.

  • I'm thinking about that. Also, Armake only reviewed one good game, and I'm not sure if he's gonna do more. Super Nintendo Guy doesn't do that, and neither does Fat Mann Judgeth or PlayItBogart.

    Good suggestion by the way.

  • I didn't know the Japanese version was that much different.

  • hmm,, great video,, is very interesting, actually I like more the NES version than the famicom one. what the story of shatterhand anyway?? where I can see the manual booklet?

  • Didn't know that one of my favorite NES games originally came from a Famicon game based on one of my favorite Metal Hero shows.

  • ..more contra sound effects..

  • I played both versions of this game and i remeber the jap. version's charicter looked like a power ranger.

  • Cool, you took my request.

Anyway, the correct word is "tokusatsu" (special effects in japanese). Not "tokkatsu".

And I'm not sure which one is a bastardization of the other, since the japanese version has little to relate to the television series I used to watch.

  • Wow, what a difference. At least most of the Power Rangers games we got were better than the Sentai ones (although the Hurricanger game is awesome).
