  • nice indulgence.nice footwork and your breathing so little that i wonder why nobody faints. You suck hard but you have a great bodyconnection.

  • Correction, this was a beginners laban notation class.

  • i'd say this is a release class that is focusing on letting the body slowly register the different movements and in time be able to do it in a more, "drop and come back"-kind of way (as my teacher said) and of course a lot faster

  • whys does everyone get critical... jeeze

Laban are immense at what they do...

its a bit of fun putting up a video. not everyones amazing...

get over it. they must have something if they got into Laban...

  • this is not release technique

  • Just to clarify this was a beginners release class..That particular phrase was being taught to be laban notated..

  • Not a release class. Come to New York and take a release class. You'll find out what is it.

  • @saululerio

good question. im looking for great release classes in nyc. do you have any suggestions? i just relocated here and am looking for instructors.

  • @gohdancer

Well, at movement research you will find great classes. Check the MELT workshop series... during the summer and winter.

There is another studio called Dance New Amsterdam. Check it out.

Also, I recommend you to take Klein Technique classes.

  • what studio and where

  • Laban Dance Centre Studio 7 :)

  • release is a drop and buoyant quality in the movement. Seeing that this is a technique class, maybe the dancers could consider buoyancy in their heads, arms and pelvis. Also I agree with you in tension. However, their is room to play with that quality even more. Tension happens in the physicality and time. You dont want a dancer to be gripped. That is not tension as I see in their legs and use of the arms. I do like the phrase

  • that is not release technique....way too held at so many points to be called that.....that teacher lied to you

  • actually it is release technique. a good release dancer should be able to create tension and hold points in the movement so then they have something to actually release. if you are released the whole time more or less it looks messy and can be quite boring and typical of a contemporary dancer. however i will admit the dancers could have been a bit more released in this.
