The problem with that was the fact that the Russians were going to invade a few days after the Germans invaded. The Germans were at the gates of Moscow when the Russian winter had frozen the breaches of their tanks, but they were five weeks late. They were late because the Italian Campaign in the Balkans, which the German forces were forced to clean up. Had the Italians captured the Balkans without German help, Moscow would have been captured, ending the war.

Why always the crimes of Germany? Not one of the ordinary German soldier knew about the holocaust. But what did the russians do with the Germans in russia? This is a foolish lie. Remember, Germany invaded Russia, not the other way around. Germany starved 3 million russian POW's to death just within 2 years. Germany burned down over 900 villages in Belarus with all their inhabitants. The soviet/ allied warcrimes committed against the German people was PAYBACK for what the Germans did earlier. Many soldiers in the SS knew all about the Holocaust. Do not defend them, because they are villains. Even in the Wehrmacht war crimes were committed. Of course not all Wehrmacht soldiers were involved but I am sure many knew, but could do little, or did not care.

I am sure many German soldiers DID know but let me state that I have no personal quarrel with the average Heer, Kriegsmarine or Luftwaffe pilot. I am just saying many in the Wehrmacht committed crimes as well, alongside the SS, which is more infamous. I have respect for the Wehrmacht in general, but there were some bad things done. Just remember that.

Killing soldiers who surrended, or even just civilians. With that said, the Germans did more of the last part, but did have many Hiwis(Hilfswilleger)(volunteer helpers) in their ranks. The Russians were ruthless to "former Russians" and on one occasion, deserters in the Operation Barbarossa were actually being fired upon by the Russians, so German tanks advanced to cover them. I just found that interesting.

POWs was never killed on purpose. Conditions where harsh so not everyone survived. But what did you expected? A 5 star hotel for murderous invaders? Sorry but in fact in comparsion to what OUR POWs survived (mostly not) in nazi captivity - nazi POWs in our captivity where INDEED in 5 star hotel. Just as we never slaughtered civilians - any who would try would be shot without a trial where they stood. Also Russians launching Op. Barbarossa is very interesting bullshit

Both sides were responsible for civil deaths throughout the war, but Russians would not hunt loyal Russians.

Yeah, the nazis considered the Russians and the slavs for sub-humans, intill the Red army completely annihilated the 6th army in Stalingrad. Hitler later on acknowledged the slavs to be tough and determined fighters.

However if it were not for the US and Britain giving trucks, tanks, and equipment the Union would have not been able to defeat the Reich and take it's capital Berlin. Sad how the soviets lived through the war and committed many evil acts. Poor women and children of Germany. They were beat but their spirit and strength will forever be eternal.

Plus the Battle of Britian was a waste of good Luftwaffe Pilots and planes,, they really had no conception of SeaLion.. total waste of material and manpower. Something about the Finns.. they really stalled alot when it cameto Leningrad and did little to commit in Full Operational Strength.

@iluvflagunlaws I think the Finns could have done alot more in the Winter of 1941, especially after the blooding they gave the Russian earlier, and the fact they had to give territory to the Russians, they did fight, but only really half heartedly as I dont think they really believed the Germans would come out on top.

We are always very better than the Russians because the Russian girls tried to escape in Bulgaria from the ex-USSR and marry Bulgarian. My memory is not short, I remember the Russians wanted to transform us in "Задунайская губерния" after the Liberation war. Then in 1885 they were AGAINST the Unification of Bulgaria, after that we were enemies in the WWI, in the WWII they declared war to Bulgaria even we didn't send any soldier to the Eastern Front because of the brotherhood!

OK, For all those who believe that every german soldier was a nazi, NO, I say again NO that is not true. Some people who are ignorant seem to forget what the term "Nazi" means? Nazi was a political party term kinda like the republicans and democrats of the United States. A big majority of germans were NOT a political party member therefore they are not considered as nazis.

Russians were good men too but they were ordered to do some crazy things or be shot, such as forcing them to not fall back and training dogs to go under tanks with explosive mines on their backs.
My grandfather sent letters home i still have some, he stated that he hoped everyone she shot died instantly and painlessly (he was in the Wehrmacht in Russia).

stalin was a major cunt but the people saying the russians were worse than the nazis are clueless, russia has the highest casualties of the war. Germany deserved to be crushed.
Of course the civilians didnt deserve what they got but war is hell. The red army wasnt some highly disciplined group of specialists but a swarm of patriots with vengance in their hearts

germans fought also with bravery... Russians were with a lot more, and the high command sucked enormous wich caused unneeded casulties.

thankfull??? Oke I respect the russians they fought for what they believed in too, but they braught decennia of communism in East Europe, look now there is still a big difference between east european countries and western civilisation

thats true but the point still stands, my country was not raped by germany because of the soviet union (and of course the other allies). I guess its pretty selfish

well i'm Belgium and Germany overrun Belgium. If Germany captured Belgium i wouldn't care. Oke the Nazis were bad in some ways but in some ways their way of looking was correct. Honestly i know less armies with such a great art of military.
