Breathtaking performance of one of XTC's finest songs! 'The impotency of speech came up and hit me that day and, I would have made this instrumental but the wooooooooords got in the way' - absolute genius. Thank you Andy
This concert from Melbourne with XTC is probably the best shit that is on youtube right now.
The band is so fantastically great fit together that it´s a joy to listen to, Andy Partridge is all over the place like a madman and Dave Gregory is doing everything right on his guitar (as well as adding some nice stuff on the keyboard).
I AM STUNNED!!
I hope that these shots will remain here for a long time since I got really depressed when they disappeared a while ago.
what would I have to do to get my hands on this entire show? I see a handfull of posted clips and have never seen a concert VHS or DVD of XTC. What can I get my hands on to show my friends that XTC rocked the house live?
Fascinating: at 1: 30 Andy makes a mistake: he sings "There is no Language in our lungs" when he should sing "there is no muscle in our tongues" (as in the beginning of the verse). The camera is on Moulding and you see him stepping back and following Andy, who leads into the guitar part one go too early.
I had tickets for myself and fifteen friends to see them on the English Settlement tour, Showbox theatre, Seattle, Washington. Most XTC fans know that the gig never happened. These clips from Australia make me sad at what my friends and I missed... Couldn't you have held it together for ONE more month, Andy?
This is what's call the ECSTASY! !!!!

Hi Petter, yeah think Melbourne is definitely the best XTC concert on video of the few ones that exist.
As long as it's alright with the lads in the band these shots will always remain.
Best,

One of the best songs by one of my favourite bands ever. LOve the guitars in this one. Vintage XTC. Black Sea is certainly an absolute classic!

is this straight edge?~just askin

if by straight edge you mean the very epitome of arranging for 2 guitars and brilliant songwriting, then yes.
Andy partridge was quite a drunk and addicted to valium during this part of his life actually.
