  • This is what's call the ECSTASY! !!!!

  • A beautiful poem this.

  • Breathtaking performance of one of XTC's finest songs! 'The impotency of speech came up and hit me that day and, I would have made this instrumental but the wooooooooords got in the way' - absolute genius. Thank you Andy

  • wonderful song, great guitars parts, super band......

  • andy also suffer'd from stage fright

  • no signs of stage fright from andy in this clip.

  • do'es anybody know where this was taped i think i was there

  • Sheer magic. Pure genius. My goosebumps have goosebumps.

  • i felt just like a crusader ...

    - lion heart ,a holy land invader

...i would have made this instrumental but the words got in the way ...

...what lyrics , what band !!! THANK YOU

  • One lazy eye from being the proto-Thom Yorke.

  • add &fmt=18 to the url for slightly better quality. makes it presentable, actually.

  • Hi Petter, yeah think Melbourne is definitely the best XTC concert on video of the few ones that exist.

As long as it's alright with the lads in the band these shots will always remain.

    Best,

    lokrume

  • This concert from Melbourne with XTC is probably the best shit that is on youtube right now.

The band is so fantastically great fit together that it´s a joy to listen to, Andy Partridge is all over the place like a madman and Dave Gregory is doing everything right on his guitar (as well as adding some nice stuff on the keyboard).

    I AM STUNNED!!

I hope that these shots will remain here for a long time since I got really depressed when they disappeared a while ago.

    peace from Petter

  • This song is awsome! Whoever chose this for F&G is a freakin genuise!

  • bill haverchuck picked last for softball. He'll show Coach Fredericks.

  • yea this music will forever be matched with that scene. I think they work perfectly together.

  • haha classic!

  • shit this song is so fucking good

  • One of the best songs by one of my favourite bands ever. LOve the guitars in this one. Vintage XTC. Black Sea is certainly an absolute classic!

  • is this straight edge?~just askin

  • if by straight edge you mean the very epitome of arranging for 2 guitars and brilliant songwriting, then yes.

Andy partridge was quite a drunk and addicted to valium during this part of his life actually.

  • "we're leaving nothing behind, just chiseled stones... no chance to speak before we're bones"

    Damn, I love these guys

  • I love this song! For me, it's one of the best of XTC!And XTC are great

  • 3:26. Rock nirvana. Period.

  • "I would have made this instrumental, but the words got in the way" Can you believe this one is over 25 years old...groundbreakingly brilliant!

  • currently the best thing on the internet is this video... thankx lokrume04

  • Love this song too! It's on my XTC Top 10 list. Glad you like it!

  • goddam!! that was good...

  • Wow - honestly!!!

  • genius.

  • this has always been one of my fave xtc songs.

the guitar sound seems coming right from Abbey Road

    side 1!

  • With every new XTC experience I find on Youtube I am reminded why I think these boys are the greatest. Thanks for posting these!

  • One of the greatest songs from XTC. I would also like to get my hands on a DVD. Anyone ??

Is there any clips from the fabulous albums Apple Venus/Wasp Star about?

  • what would I have to do to get my hands on this entire show? I see a handfull of posted clips and have never seen a concert VHS or DVD of XTC. What can I get my hands on to show my friends that XTC rocked the house live?

  • Fascinating: at 1: 30 Andy makes a mistake: he sings "There is no Language in our lungs" when he should sing "there is no muscle in our tongues" (as in the beginning of the verse). The camera is on Moulding and you see him stepping back and following Andy, who leads into the guitar part one go too early.

  • I'd give my left nut. Seriously. Get the knife.

  • I had tickets for myself and fifteen friends to see them on the English Settlement tour, Showbox theatre, Seattle, Washington. Most XTC fans know that the gig never happened. These clips from Australia make me sad at what my friends and I missed... Couldn't you have held it together for ONE more month, Andy?

  • Sorry to hear... I would kill to see them live.

  • Marvelous! Could be the best XTC song ever writen...nah! but definitive top 5 in the excellent XTC song book!
