Majority of the Muslim population in Canada including me avoid usury but its hard not to because of the way the system is setup. I have pay as you go credit card. No interest at all. I paid of my debt on my student Visa which I regret to this day. May God forgive me for that. I am not planning to buy a house unless God bless me with hard earned money. Actually you're wrong. By controlling the interest rates, the Fed controls how much money is in the system. The lower the interest rate, the higher the money supply, and of course the higher the inflation.
That money is deposited in private banks who loan it out at interest, creating money out of nothing, inflating the currency.
