just finished reading this. Not as hardcore as I thought it would be , but it definately benefits from Caves' narrative. He puts so much more emphasis on the bits that need to stand out. Love it.
@simonx49 Well, I think we have yet to see the rest of the Nick Cave as Artist saga unfold. I was once a good creative writing student, so I remember the painful task of having to interrupt orations like this during workshops. Fortunately for Cave, his music is very appealing to the sensitivities writers use to construct the mood of their material. So I'm grateful for his part in that, as are many others out there who often need to kill a bad case of Writer's Block.
@simonx49 Well, considering how he might react if a well-meaning fan sent him a much-needed copy of "The Elements of Style"... oh God, "Labia of Arabia"? Did he actually WRITE that?? AAAAAAHHHHH... (Brain hemorrhage. Game Over.)
Just finished the book. While it wasn't exactly flawless, I thought it was a great story. Nick Cave is great both with the bad seeds and as a novelist. Bunny sounds like Lazarus from Dig, Lazarus, Dig!
I haven't come across a protaganist that I was so scared for and scared by since Raskolnikov in Dostoyevsky's Crime and Punishment - Bunny just got me thinking, "I never wanna be this bad!" Brilliantly written and extremely funny, too. A great fear-inducing novel that'll have you praying for redemption by the end. In short, it'll make you a better person. If it doesn't, then like Bunny - YOU ARE DAMNED!!!
but i met him finally by chance it was in the middle of a zebra crossing in brixton .well as u can imagine ineir\ther of us was in a position to stop n chat cos he was going one way unt me zee uvver so i never got to say all the stuff about satie the french piano player thay i love and that on the boatmans call reminded me so how did the conversation go in the middle of the road.well i said "thank u very much" and he said"ur welcome well at least i got my point across without having to queue
this raised my spirits "and the ass saw the angel "was probabbly my favorite book
i know wha\en i read this i will get that feeling i wont want it to end.hios imagary is like a machine gun full of rose heads blitzkreiging (however u would spell that fukin word) maH MIND.i used to love go see the birthda party and then the bad seeds .i could never queue up to talk to him after any show but got a chance to talk to him twice.once in heaven funily enough .i wanted to say so my\uch
