  • Hi, I have a question. Is there a continous glocuse tester AND insulin giver too? I mean.. that'd be awesome. I don't have diabetes, but this new dr I have said I have insulin resistance and I'm trying to learn about this stuff.:) HOpe you're well, pardon my wording. LOL.

  • Thanks man for the great comment on my channel. Glad you took the time to post that.

  • Thanks for the video. I wish they would make an app so all the data and software could be used/viewed on an Iphone/Droid. It sucks to have have to carry around an insulin pump, cell phone, a dexcom 7 receiver, and keys! However full my pockets may be though, I will still never carry a murse (man purse). With all the technology today there should be a smaller receiver at least...better yet have the receiver be my cell phone.

  • I love the little jungle thing at the end. and love the lizard on the wall

  • I think I would like watch my BG like a tv show and get all obsessed LOL but I have thought about it because I always wonder what my BG is up to in between checks :)

  • @forensicsupernerd Not too far off from that point. It's really neat to see how my sugars react to certain things like; doing presentations, exercise, when I get emotional, stress and others. You would be amazed on the small sometimes large changes.

  • Thank you for the information. Would like to have a CGMS. But have just gotten my pump and getting it started this Sat. Will put off untill they have improved the units

  • @Rhinnoman1 Good luck on your pump start... how is it going so far? The time you put upfront on gettng the right basal pattern and carb/correction ratios is well worth it.

The CGMS units are not bad by any means. They can be overwhelming to some. It's just more information and more insertions.... :-)

  • Thank you for your honesty with the good and the not so great. I have started the process of researching the CGMS systems out there (along with a new pump as well) and real opinions like this are so great.

  • Sometimes my Dexcom readings are way off too. It could be the lack of uploading my meter numbers to the dexcom. Plus when my sugars swing, the numbers can be off too. Always check with a meter.

However this is NEW TECHNOLOGY! I manage my diabetes better with my Dexcom. That is true. But they are not for everyone. For someone to think this device relaces finger sticks completely is horribly MISLEAD.

The Dexcom is a tool to help with your control.

  • i have one in right now. Its nice to have, but sometimes its WAAAAAAAY off. just this morning it said i was 360 and i was actually 130 when i used my meter... thats not good :(

  • @vballcarlie93 I had some numbers way off this weekend. Made me think of your comment.

After I made the correction.... and waited a few hours... My BG was 92 tested on meter and 93 on the Dexcom. Pretty good... But really the 93 number on my dexcom is delayed 15 minutes... so even when you think your numbers are close... are they really though?

  • Thanks I will wait untill they improve on it before I get one

  • @willowsl I wouldn't discourage you from one. I use one and like the data and infromation it gives me. Better then guessing at my numbers in a way. One problem with CGMS devices in general, is that they test blood sugars in the body, not in the finger tip. So because of that there is always going to be differences in the numbers for now.

But you are right... most if not all of the CGMS devices are only first or barely second generation device technology.
