  • Beautiful arrangement!

  • This is definitely the best version of this song. Love you Art!

  • Wow, That's a Cool Album cover.

  • sublime

  • Art is the leader of fashion, as he weared cloth back in late 60th, now is the leading now.

  • May I recommend the book 'An Essential Guide To Music In The 1970s' by Johnny Zero. The author is a big fan of this track.

  • I sang this along with my best man to my wife at our wedding (ex now...guess my singing sucked...) But I still love this song...

  • How can you not love this just the best!

  • one of his solo hits i rememberd as a young kid.both him and the flamingos versions are excellent.thanks for this one.

  • Btw, the song was written in the 30's. Check Wikipedia.

  • Flamingo's still have the best version of this song, imho.

  • @khrysenthem I agree, but Art G did an amazingly good follow-up with this one!!

  • I always thought Art's was the original - didn't realise others did remakes of this song. I think he does it the best!

  • Sure hope everyone listens to youtube with headphones on.

  • Laurie Bird; I loved her in "Two-Lane Blacktop." I've met and gotten hooked up with cute chicks like her character in this classic "road" movie. Can't hang on to them: Chicks such as this one are like birds, they fly away the first chance they get. Very sad that she committed suicide. I'd be devastated, too, if she was my girlfriend.

  • The best he has ever sounded with this incredible remake.

  • yummy

  • Apparently, when this song was first written back many years ago, it was a faster track than this, but I much prefer this romantic interpretation. Art really does it justice. Thanks for posting.

  • @katie7714 I love this as well. Shame that Arthur Mullard did a cover of it.

  • @Stemax1960 Did he? I never knew. Dread to think what that sounded like- I dont think I'll bother to find out!

  • cool song... thanx for sharing

  • cool

  • Love it! I always thought that this could have been Prefab Sprout singing this. Art's voice is very much like Paddy's here.

  • What I would give to go back to 1975 and know what I know now. Granted I would have been 12 years old back then when this sappy song came out, but still, 12 years old is a good age to start-over and in 1975.......Bill Gates would be working for me right now in 2010 and I would be owning alot of gold.

  • One of my Wedding songs!

  • Incredible!

  • Very nice!

  • my personal favourite masterful

  • Laurie Bird was only 25 when she died. Art dedicated his album Scissors Cut to Laurie. She had too brief of an acting career.

  • I love this song and I just saw this Original LP in a store!! Great album cover!! :-)

  • I'd forgotten how good this one is !!

  • a beautiful song for a beautiful era.

  • You are here, so am I.......and I only have eyes for you........... My favorite love song, ever.

  • I only have eyes...for two!?!?

  • I Only Have Eyes for You could be the perfect wedding song!

  • @jettwonder Never thought of it that way, but mostly as romantic love song, perhaps the music that would lead to marriage, but now that you mentioned it, I suppose it would be the perfect wedding song. Good call.

  • Absolutely the most "Beautiful" song of all time by "The Great Art Garfunkel!"

  • LOL....Absolutely great song....one of the best love songs I've ever heard....From the album cover however it doesn't seem he only has eyes for only one....doesn't he have his arm around two ladies ?? : )

  • I thought this was off the "Watermark' album?????

  • A work of art like Picasso.

  • This song was played at my dads funeral I think the song is very beautiful and was very fitting to my dad R.I.P will always love you and I shall miss you loads x x x x

  • The best ever version made of this song! Loved this song as a kid!

  • By far the best version of this song ever done. I have loved this one since I was a kid.

  • I miss the chibump/chibump part the flamingos put in.

  • I had no idea that Art Garfunkel recorded this! WOW! I'm speechless! It's strictly a Double A - awesome and amazing!

  • Great version. I think I like this more than The Flamingos.

  • Not as good as the Flamingos, but still very good.

  • Sexy song to me for some reason.

  • Wow! Thanks for posting one of the most beautiful love songs of all time. I always get sentimental when I hear it. Art's angelic voice accompanied by the soft instrumentals... one can imagine himself with his lover "in a garden or a crowded avenue."

  • @snglatndad

This version reminds me of something out of the 50's. My favorite era of all time.

  • This would've been lovely sung by Michael Jackson. As it is it's just beautiful and a favorite of all time.

  • I love this song......it was the song my husband and I danced to at our wedding....I am now happily divorced from that fool but this song still holds a special place in my heart!!

  • @pidgeondrum Oh how sad - on both counts. However I hope that you're happy now. If not look me up and we can dance all night to this! lol

  • @waldenhouse ...I'm lucky that I can say I am happy!! And I would LOVE TO DANCE ALL NIGHT LONG.....under the light of the moon :0)

  • Little known fact: Andrew Gold played all the instruments in this arrangement.

  • hold on to your girls lads see if they believe you hola

  • I've been sitting here with my headfones on listening to this tune for well over an hour.

What an awesome tune, hes voice is so calming and loving.

I've just ordered the album online :o)

  • After 30 years I came realized I could get this album in amazon, had lost the long-play years ago, in my mind its music had been going on and on, one of those things you think you will never come across again, well, I love it, the lush arrangements, the very-very clever performances by the musicians, the voice, the songs, very classy indeed.

  • Thanks for posting, this is one of my absolute all-time favorites!

This takes me back to my college days.

    Thanks again!

  • @doggzeke yep....fall 75, freshman year.

  • Charles Hughes ,,are you listening?

  • This is the best love song ever written and no one sings it better that Art Garfunkel.

  • This is absolutely lovely.

  • Oh i absolutely love this song its pure class!!

  • I adore this. This is one of the most mind blowing, romantic songs that I could possibly think of (Harry Nillson; I Wonder Who's Kissing Her Now has to be a winner for me). They don't 'do' songs like they used to. This has to be in my Top Ten.

  • I know this was an old song when Artie recorded it but I can't help but feel as though it was written just for him in this arrangement. It fits his voice so well.

  • I remember Art singing this live on Top of the Pops, truly magic! And if you read this Jenny I still miss you!

  • I used to own the 45 of this.

  • Great cover. Classic.

  • mmmm 1975 the autumn 35 years ago i just cant believe it seems like yesterday listening to it on my red leatherette clad radio. My Grandad had passed away in the april and my first summer of the dreaded hay fever!! not much in the way of tablets back then you had to suffer!!! i turned 8 that july!! great music and mems!!

  • his best song, just love it!!! thank you so much for posting it!!!

  • I just love this song its so relaxing :)

  • This song was number one the week I was born. I'm glad I found out about it, it's fab :)

  • Although music is a part of everyones life this is some of the best music ever made . Brings back some very fond memories of my youth. Thank Very Much M

  • I'm out, this knocks me dead. The ultimate slow dance. Snatch the cd at your local, be amazed.

  • Who's the chick to his left?

  • @Kemster79 It Is Laurie Bird. She was his lover from 1975 until her suicide in 1979. Her death led to his depression in the 80's

  • @kylecrazyford Thank you mate. Give's the song a whole new meaning.

  • @kylecrazyford ouch ,.that cover makes that situation ultra ironic,.,.

  • @Feesharp9er How Do You Mean

  • @kylecrazyford IMO,. it seems as tho the album title was sort of a "warning" about his relationship with her ,,.i.e "breakaway" ,.seem's like his friend to his right, though not really mouthing out any particular word looks like he's warning him to breakaway before the relationship destroys him,..,that's what I took from it,.

  • @kylecrazyford

Who is the girl on the right? Or is that even a girl? Lol.......

  • @GoBlueGirl100 Do You Mean Mine Or Art's Right.

  • @GoBlueGirl100 that is Mick Jagger

  • @GoBlueGirl100 what the hell is the one on his left..is that keith richards in drag??...rofl!

  • Hit #1 AC, #18 pop in Billboard. God bless!

  • We danced to this version for our wedding song. We are no longer married, but I still get sentimental and choked up when I hear it. The band we picked sounded just like this arrangement and so did the vocals. Amazing song.

  • Great song great arrangment....kudos

thanks for posting it.... I saw garfunkel back in the 70s in Calif. but the 70s are kind of a blur unsure what date it was...

    chow

  • Glad You liked it, and i agree on the arrangements, you just gotta love that flange guitar part.

  • Great song it's been around along time and it's still one of my all time favs

  • JUST Beautiful... Art's voice is pure silk... I think he'd sound Great with Billy Joe Royal too for a DUET... similiar voices, but BOTH all their OWN... Simon and Garfunkel is the BEST! Classic, timeless... (:

  • Yeah, that woud be great.

  • yeppers... (:

  • Yes!! He was the modern Sinatra as far as I'm concerned too kylecrazyford

  • I havent heard this lovely song for years and yesterday I woke up singin it and now I can't stop. He's got a lovely voice.

  • Yes He has, and it's such a great song, no wonder it did better than the original.

  • Yeah, taht's what makes it so great.

  • Brings to mind the two great loves of my life.......

  • And Who Are They?

  • .....the BEST version!!! =^.~=

  • I agree! It's so atmospheric.

Brings back memories of much happier times for me.

  • SO SMOOTH AND ROMANTIC

  • He was the modern Sinatra as far as I'm concerned.

  • i hope you don't always talk to yourself on line, great album

  • i was replying to other people's comments.

  • thanks for sharing :) great version

  • Amazing

  • Stunning song, sung by anyone else, just does not cut it! Beautiful and so romantic!

  • Have to agree, except that the Flamingos had the #1 version of this, and Art's version is exactly the same. They're both great, as far as I'm concerned....

  • very nice...

  • This is a superb interpretation of the 1934 classic by Harry Warren and Al Dubin!!

  • I would never admit to my friends that I love this song. I sometimes listen to it more than once a day.

  • why not? are you a forest living in heavy metal head banger with black clothes and make up?

  • no doubt one of his best works...Thanks for the video M.
