  • nice video. do you use ant topwater baits?

  • New word: aerodynamicy :-p

  • i was fishing shallow like 3 feet last night and reds everywhere in the grass beds. so i texas rigged my 4" gulp shrimp and they were hitting this thing like crazy. but they wouldnt get hooked. i had it rigged right but it just wasnt hooking them. on second the fish is on the line then next thing i know it was gone. so what is a way that i can fix this problem cuz they were hitting it just not getting hooked. i was getting so frustrated. any ideas would help a lot.

  • @xXxjoemanxXx Gulp is great for certain applications, but since it's essentially fish food, it's subject to getting pecked at by every tiny fish in that grass bed,. Was your gulp all beat up? Was it Reds hitting your gulp? Any sizable red would have snarfed it up. That's why I like DOA shimp over gulp. The little fish leave it alone. Since Reds are scent oriented fish, try some shrimp flavored "procure" on the DOA shrimp. Or...a weedless gold spoon with some red yard to hold the scent.

  • @VinnyjojoFish red YARN...not yard.

  • @VinnyjojoFish it wasnt little fish, when they hit it my pole would nearly hit the water and my drag goes crazy. but i think they were just biting the end of the shrimp and not getting there mouth up by the hook. cuz i only hooked 2 and he was about 10 feet from me and broke the surface and i saw him and then he spit out the hook. i was gettin big hits almost every cast and only hooked 2 and they eventually got off. im gonna buy a gold spoon and try that. thanks

  • @xXxjoemanxXx My favorite lure in those conditions - Zoom Fluke or a "Gotcha trout killer" (I like the gold glitter color for those) texas rigged with a 3/0 or 4/0 EWG Gamakatsu hook. Work slow as heck... slow, subtle lift off the bottom and let it fall.

  • caught a nice flounder with the doa shrimp texas rigged thank you so much for the video

  • Looks ugly but works

  • would I be able to use this on smaller fish? We usually catch smaller fish at the area we go to.

  • trying to catch snook on blackburn pt rd. will this work?

  • Very good video, no loud distracting music, straight up information and how to!

  • How would you fish this?

  • This is great info. Keep up the great work and I will be trying this soon!

  • I like it. The theory is good. That is what its all about.

  • I've spent hours watching videos on "fishing techniques" that were, at best, ego-boosters for the people in the video. This, sir, is one of the best fishing technique videos I have ever seen - and it didn't even have a caught fish in it. Thanks! If only there were more people who could make useful fishing videos...

  • What kind of knot would yall tie on this.?

  • @yeal9320 Typically, I tie on a loop/rapala knot on all jig heads for that little extra action.

  • @VinnyjojoFish Ok. Thanks. Ps: This would work very good on where i fish at because there are a lot of rocks and docks so im gonna try this out ASAP.

  • Wow! Thanks for the info. Good stuff. I'll give it a shot today. Thanks again.

  • You forgot one thing..a couple sprays of Jacks Juice(shrimp)!

  • Awesome video man, I have been trying to figure out a way to make my DOA weedless, the SOB gets caught up and snagged, I am going to try this as soon as I get home, This is a 4/0 hook offset correct?

  • Interesting idea. I've never heard of this or seen this on DOA, of course I've seen texas rigging a shrip. I might just have to destroy one of my DOAs to give it a try.

  • would that rig be good for jack crevalles and similar fish, or would i have to go with a smaller hook and just cut a little more off the tail?

  • and i mean smaller jack crevalles, like the 1 footers. not the big 20 pounders.

  • Crevalle aren't picky at all....they'll certainly hit a DOA shrimp. If you're targeting small Jacks, you certainly don't need a slow moving bait like this though.

  • well if i do use this rig, would the hook be too big or is it decent size. Where i fish, theres usually the jacks with the occasional school of mangrove snappers. the school of snappers are usually just about keeper size, so im thinking that a 4/0 hook might be a bit too big.

  • Remember, it'd a 4/0 offset worn hook...so very little of the hook point is actually exposed. Jacks inhale baits and you'd have no prob setting a hook.

Again if your targeting Jacks, which tend to work a little higher in the water column, you really wouldn't need a weedless DOA shrimp. Crevalle will hit virtually any lure you put in front if their faces.
