Bullshit. I'm running a heavily overclocked twin fan version of this card as well as 4 hard drives with a 65W CPU and it's running on my 400W PSU just fine. If you're buying a PSU for use with this GPU, just make sure it can provide more than 25 Amps on the 12V rail(s) and that it is a continuous power supply. A 550W no-name power supply is no good, as it is rated for peak watts, not continuous output. A decent 400-450W branded PSU will do fine.

Also because when no-name PSUs get anywhere near their rated power, they either burn out immediately or the shitty capacitors in them start whining. I am talking from experience because I used to get cheap and shitty PSUs for one of my builds, and when the PSU went, everything else died with it, since they have no protection.

@ImEatingRiCE Depending on what models you're comparing. Choose the one with the highest 12V amperage and preferably single 12V Rail instead of Dual/Quad. I'd probably go with the Corsair, unless the Thermaltake you mention has 80Plus Silver/Gold Efficiency.

@GoodGame03 no, its about on the same level with the 5750. the 5770 is closer to the gtx260, but not quiet as good (im talking like 2-10 fps depending on the game no big deal). the 5770 makes up for it though because it is way cooler and has dx11. if you need physx or cuda wait for the new midrange gtx4** cards coming out in in june or july.

The GTS 240 is an overclocked 9800gt, and it's mostly only in systems that are built for you.

What do you want to play? What resolution?

At 1920x1200, the 9800gt with 1 GB can do FEAR 2, COD4, COD5, L4D, Dead Space, Bioshock all very well.

Fallout 3 and Far Cry 2 also high res and settings, but probably have to scale back the AA a bit.

GTS 240 is a bit faster.

The GTS 250, especially the 1 GB version OC is even more powerful than the GTS 240.

i think it will last from a few months to a few years.depending on ho mutch you get addicted to the new graphics level.

if you want to stay at the same level it wont take too long before it will degrade(especilly in october thats when all the new heavy games come out(crysis 2 mdern warfare 2)

of you buy a gt300 series card when you find it too slow. pop this one in as physx and your pc wil be flying again. it wil definatly increase the lifespan of the gpu

to be exact the 9800GTX+ is faster due to the higher voltage input you can overclock it more if you bios flash a 9800GTX+ to a GTS250 you can overclock it alot more even l0ol the gts250 is a tammed and volt modded 9800gtx with a more efficient core

I don't support false advertising ! The stock GTS 250 doesn't come with higher clock speeds than the stock 9800GTX+ - they perform the same - - why because they're essentially the same, and that's why you can run SLi with 9800GTX+ 512mb and GTS 250 512MB.
