As Bakshi has said, John has no intellect. He just can't let things go and say "okay, this is story/ joke is terrible, let me try something else." No discipline. Like the episode where Stimpy is in the bathroom and hears Ren and thinks he's a ghost. That gag is unfunny in the first place, but why would you make it run for 5 minutes?

I know you should make cartoons/ art for yourself, but you should think about audience reaction. Don't pad out a scene from 3 minutes to 7 just because you like it
