I remember my friend's pervert older brother (much older) thought he could "get me in the mood" by playing this while I waited for her to show up from basketball practice. I was 13, and 24 was O-L-D and totally uncool to me. Ended up having to knee him in the crotch and run out. Tainted this song for me for years, which really sucks, because I liked it.
I saw these guys at the sports aroma here in San Diego, California. I think around "72" or so, I really can't remember. I sat center stage, row eight. These guys played this cut for about a half hour, they rocked it. They sounded good then, and still do today. Thank you, MrSnookies. Love your taste in music, and love your show.
WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO SEE THIS CONCERT IN 1971 AT THE MIAMI MARINE STADIUM....>PETE RIVERA...GIL BRIDGES....MARK OLSON....JOHN PERSH.....RAY MONETTE....EDDIE GUZMAN.........LIVE FOREVER.........>ULISES...MIAMI FLA
Absolutely phoenominal the entire band, one of the best drummers and bassists in the business Peter Rivera and John Persh, Mark Olson on keyboards, Ray Monette on lead guitar, Gil Bridges on saxophone and flute and last but not least Eddie Guzman on percussion. They all compliment each other with their indivisual talent. It has to be one of my favorite songs and solo instrumentals of all time.
I WAS IN THIS CONCERT HERE IN MIAMI AT THE MIAMI MARINE STADIUM IN 1971 WILL NEVER FORGET........REMENBER MY FAVORITE BASS PLAYER JOHN PERSH..............ULISES....MIAMI FLA
@nocheoscura1956 i wish i was there but i wasn't and if i have been hearing it good there planning a remake but i don't gonna enjoy that like this version
esta musica me remonta a mi infancia, recuerdo a mi hermano amis hermanas altamente desodenadas, en fin algo bonito gracias a esta bella musica soy de mexico
I saw them and the full version of get ready while in the service in Germany. What a kick ass concert. Ten Years After was the opener. Hey, it got me all the way through two tours in Vietnam! I came back medi-vac with a bullet in my back but this song has made it past that. Rock And Roll!!!!!!
Does it get any better than this? When white rock and rollers take on a black motown-type classic, they turn that great song into a classic itself. Rare Earth was such a band and Pete Rivera was such a drummer and singer. I saw them in San Antonio in 1971 when I was 17. I was hooked. I was also hooked on pot for in those days concerts were filed with the smell of the good stuff, passed around freely among brothers and sisters. The came the love making!!! Oh yeah!
This has to be my favorite all time song and instrumental of all. Peter Rivera on drums and lead vocals what an outstanding voice he has, the late John Parrish on bass, he's one of my top 5 bassists of all time, Gil bridges on saxophone and flute,
Eddie Guzman on congas and percussion, his cave man look was oh so cool, the late Mark Olson on keyboards and last but certainly not least Ray Monette on guitars. What an awesome band. Keep on rocking men as we love your music to the hilt!
I wore out three 8-tracks of this album from 1971 to 1973 just for this tune alone. Even after all these years, this is still an incredible piece of music and performance. Just wish the recording technology had been better back then.
@dogbarbill the other live version has somewhat better sound quality and who knows maybe someone will take the time to remaster this one.Me,i love it just the way it is. gimme dat analog sound anyday...
NEVER MIND , I NEVER WANT TO COME DOWN , Nor CALM DOWN My EAR ARE BLEEDING , and HAVING A FUULLLL CARDIARC ARRESSSSSSST GET ME A DIFFIBLULATER I AM HIGH AS THE ORION GALAXY NEBULA !!!!!! DAAAMMMMMMMMMM !!! That feels GOOOOODDDDDDD
I learned how to splice an 8-track back together and re-wind 3 feet of tape back into the casing because of this album. When I was in high school we played this "Live" album so much that the tape broke repeatedly while "cruising" in my car.
I learned this album, scotch tape, a razor blade and a flashlight could impress your date! lol
the first concert i ever went to was Rare Earth at the Coliseum in Indianapolis. Needless to say the first time is almost always the best or at least the one you REALLY remember. No exception here.
i totally agree, i heard this song a very very very long time ago and still it gives a thrill!!! In a little bar in Groningen (holland) with barseats with saddles on it. I'll always will remember that.
@ciadanixy : Heluva critic's review, m8.. Lester Bangs & Cub Koda are smiling down on ya from heaven.. I bet mark Olson, John Persh, & Eddie Guzman are having a laff too..
One of the gretaest jams from one of the greatest bands ever...
Theme song for a Generation ...the ONLY "White" band to be signed TO Motown....& Go for the Gold & The Plat...Not Bad for a Bunch a White Guys with a Fullback for a Drummer LEAD SINGER!!! Now Children put this in Your Pipes....Singer is Peter Hoorelbeke ... Rock Hall ????....I think so!!!!......PEACE
Mention me one better band? Mention me one better song? What even your taste is, doesn't matter. This is the only one. Isn't?
