What program do you use to make that animationa and the bodies or the faces....I need to know how to do a good 3d body and animate it....can you help me or just tell me how did you do the bodies and faces
hi man.. i use 3ds max but im still in a learning phase.. i know how to model charachter and i know how to work with piped more or less but i dont know how to make facial animation... correct me if im wrong .. but is for face animation needed to use mophing modifier and later commbining morphing targerts with the reaction menager????? :) can u help mi a little with this :)
hahahah dude awesome job! but can u message me and tell me what programs or program ur using for this because im really interested in this for a career and but I just need a good program to start. thanks man, and keep up the good work!
These animations are some of the funniest STUFF! It making all of us laugh a MARR CHANNEL. Thank for making them! Come check us OUT! You video is on Channel 2!
for those who haven't used the jason osepia rig: it takes no skill at all to animate it well. the only rig used well was made to be awesome even for the crappiest of animators, like this person. you suck hard and often. don't quite your day job.
The head is from Jason Osipa's book on facial animation, the rig at the start is Package Man. You need to credit other artists when you use their work in your reel.
I dunno if you have a newer demo reel, but your animation needs a little work. Specifically your poses need to be more interesting and get the point across. Also work on getting to your poses fast from the anticipations. Just some observations I had, I'm not the greatest animator or anything, but check out a couple things that I posted
First, you seem like a talented modeler and animator. Just a few things to say, though I'm not experienced at character animation: Check stuff like Pixar movies, etc. You'll see that one of the reasons they are so good is that the characters don't have any part of their bodies stop moving, unless it is very intentional. It gives the character a more organic, or, if exaggerated, cartoony feel. However, great job; you obviously are very good at what you do and will continue to improve.
with that bit where it looked like death was walking through the door, i reckon it would be a kinda scary to to have a guy to wake up and see death walking through your house looking for you :P
This demo reel is AWESOME, but the penguine should be closer to the start because its pretty good to, u should keep everything together aswell, keep the head animation together, i think Your key poses could flow better with the inbetweens they seem to pause for about half a second or so i noticed after watching a second time without sound, but its pretty damn good. awesome job! love the start of it good timing with the music and everything
I actually wouldn't include the animation with the Jason Osipa head at all. The head is great for learning from, but because everyone recognizes it as not being your work, it is not a great idea to put on a demo reel. What I do recommend doing is following Osipa's lessons in Stop Staring to create your own original character for lipsync. It will be more impressive.
thanks for the advice. I thought about that, but I'm currently just focusing on animation as opposed to modelling/rigging/etc. I figure i can animate an awesomely modelled/rigged character that someone else made a lot better than i can with one that i made. osipa's dome has tons of expressions and controls and is really great to animate. however, my upcoming reel probably won't have anymore osipa in it. i'm focusing on more full body animation now. check out some of my newer videos!
You know, I had an instructor who mentioned something about it being good that you use other people's pre-modeled and pre-rigged characters in your demo reel, but ONLY if the reel is focusing on animation. He said the reason why is because it shows your "devotion" to doing pure animation, which, if you're giving a company an animation reel, is what they're looking at hiring you for anyway. I kind of am more of an advocate of doing the entire piece myself, though, but that's just me.
You really shouldn't have cursing in your demo reel, even if it is bleeped out, you'd be surprise how easily it could offend and not get you a job. Otherwise, that was highly impressive and I'm inspired.
You should always put credits in your demo, especially when you are using someone else's model from a book. Jason Osipa's "Stop Staring: Facial Modeling done right" deserves some credit for the head. If I was evaluating your work for a position in my production, I would have to question what else in your demo you didn't really do.
One tip is to render your animation with just the silhouette of your character. If it reads, then you're good to add all your secondary animation. You have too much squash and stretch/secondary movement in your ears. A good guideline to follow is squash and stretch in meant to be felt, not seen. Many companies hiring animators don't even listen to the sound, so if they can't figure out what's going on in your piece, you're out of luck.
You need more head movement, especially in your single head, side to side more up and down (think about adding a body to it or something so it's not just on top of black, its not interesting to look at). Again if you can read the emotion in the head without the facial animation then you can do your animation.
I really suggest that you go back and rework your full-body animation on your acting pieces. It feels very unnatural, awkward, and stiff, basically unpolished. Before you do any facial animation be absolutely sure you can read the emotion in your gestures. You're lacking that readability that pretty much all animators will drill you on in a critique.
