  • oh this is wonderful val!! :)

  • were can one purchase a lute?

  • First make a search for the lute society of your country, there you'll find links to makers ;-)

Warning : lute are expensive instruments (as hand made, not industrial) There are EMS lutes cheaper but lower quality. So start saving money ;-)

    Good luck !

    Val

  • very relaxing ... it's a nice musical support when doing homework.

  • Thanks ;-)

    Val

  • Well done to Arthur! He kept perfect timing! I get very nervous playing infront of a camera, he played just fine!

  • Yes, and all was first and only one take.

    Val

  • Hi, Val.

I got my own lute made by Japanese luthier, and mastered this tune

-only Arthur's part. I am enjoying a lot playing a lute.

  • Nice !

Hope you'll find a duet partner... more fun

    Val

Are you going to upload more duets in the future?...

    :)

    Saludos, R.

  • Thanks !

Perhaps there will be more, I don't know...

    Val

  • Very nice. Played with spirit. Lute music can be a bit colorless to me.

  • Thanks for listening ;-) It is just student work here....

    val

  • Grazie a Arthur e Valery. Finalmente una buona musica.

  • Grazie Mille ;-)

    Val

  • I am an avid guitarist and enthusiast of history and I found these pieces to be very delightful. I am very impressed with your students performance in duet. It's not easy to perform in-sync with another player, especially when you first start out and are really focused on more important things like hitting all the right notes or keeping tempo etc. Keep up the great work Arthur!

  • Thanks for him, it was his first recording and he made it like a pro... one take for all pieces ;-)

    Regards,

    Val

  • Hi, Val. This is a first time for me to give a comment to you tube.

    I really love your music.

I've just started to have lute lessons.

I'd like you to tell me about your instrument by Stephen Murphy, because I have to get my own instrument.

  • Hello, thanks for commenting on my video. Here my student is playing on a student lute by Didier Jarny, and I'm playing on the concert lute by Stephen Murphy. I'll tell you more in private message.

    Best regards

    Valéry

  • Masterful!

  • Thanks ;-)

    V.

    Vincenzo Galilei

    Excellent ! Great thanks !

  • Wonderful! Congrats to Arthur!

  • Loved it! loved your playing and the music. LOL the second piece (La mantovana) sounds like Israel's national Anthem. you should check it out!

  • The melody for Hatikvah is based on "La Mantovana", a 16th century Italian song. Its earliest known appearance in print was in early 17th-century Italy as "Ballo di Mantova." This melody gained wide currency in Renaissance Europe,

  • being recorded variously as the Spanish hymn "Virgen de la Cueva" ("Virgin of the Cave"); the Sephardi melody for the Hallel prayer; the Yiddish folk song " the Prayer for the Dew," the Polish folk song "Pod Krakowem," a Swedish folksong; and as the Ukrainian "Kateryna Kucheryava.". This melody had been famously used by Bedřich Smetana in his symphonic poem Má vlast as "Vltava" (Die Moldau).

  • Thanks for the interesting infos.

    ;-)

    val
