@Catapultandclingfilm From what I understand, he simply resigned because he saw the outcome. If black queen takes white queen, black will be a knight up at the end, and has better end-game position, most probably using better pawn position to get a queen.

Profession chess players shouldve spotted this trap. Only amateurs and beginners fall for this. Maybe it has something to do with it being played way back in the 1800s when chess was just invented.

Another line to stop Qh2# is not showed here is Qe5. But black still wins after Nxe2. and then it is either Qxe2 Qh2# or Kh1 Rxh2#. Or maybe Ng3+ (instead of Ne2) Kh1 Rxh2# is more beautifull.

Hmm, the overall strategy seems to be to focus all your power pieces in the area where the other king is, on the board. White should have made an escape route earlier in the game, by moving out a pawn, before or after castleing.
