Thank you for posting this vid, never thought I'd see a devil being held and petted. Cute though cantankerous little beasties it truly saddens me that they have become endangered by the viral cancer that is killing them off. What it seems that some people who deride these wonderful critters as that they are a part of the eco system, and the carrion eaters, be they wasps, seagulls, eagles, or devils, are important members of the 'overall' in that they help keep the environment clean of debris

When dealing with wild animals there are various ways of handling each species. I expect that these people who are dealing with Tasmanian Devils every day have worked out that holding them by their tails is the safest way of doing so.

It must be less stressful than using some some form of capture loop that you use for restraining dangerous dogs.

I remember hearing on a Steve Irwin program a while back that is how to handle them and things like Wallabies.
