This seems so courageous to me, and yet - maybe it's not. Maybe it was easier for her to share her grief in this way that it would have been with words. Either way, it was an amazing response to such a sudden and cruel loss. A lesson in dignity for us all.
OMG I remember watching this and wondering how I would ever make it through that kind of performance if I had ever lost my skating partner and husband...A beautiful tribute to her love indeed. May he RIP.
Oh my gosh - I just realized the music is Mahler Symphony #5. Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir won the Olympics skating to this music together and it was such a romantic performance. To watch Katia perform it solo and at the same time think of Tessa and Scott makes Katia's tribute even more moving.
@kmbmiddlechild I thought of taht too when I saw V/M's free dance. Their coach and choreographer is Marina Zueva. She said to Katia she can only see a single skater skate this music, but I guess she made an exception. RIP, Sergei :( They were a one of a kind couple, no one will ever match G&G
I've often thought if there were ever a time and place when you could capture a spirit on a video, this would be it -- I do think he's around her somehow.
even after all this time, this still makes me cry. I loved to watch them skate because you could see the true partnership, the love & the connection these two had.
Beautiful. I almost wish the audience did not clap when she came out...but then again, it added to the reverie....her and Sergi out on the ice again, together.
*tear* I read her book, I have it sitting on my shelf and everytime I read it and see this...I get a sense of what she was feeling...:( I can't imagine losing someone I love like that...at least she still goes on <3
So extraordinarily beautiful and touching after all these years. What beautiful memories!

The way Daria crosses her hands over her chest, makes her look like the sweetest most loving child ever.

Brings tears to my eyes every time. Beautiful. Katya is sooooo skinny here though, like she hasn't eaten since she lost her Sergei.

The part that really does me in is when Katia picks up Dasha and Dasha pats Katia on the back. Just like, I would imagine, Sergei would've done.
