What is the point of this? The links these guys have to Cyril Davies are all so tenuous as to be superfluous and, of more importance, there seems no obvious attempt to in any way re-create the sound of The All-Stars. Same thing happened in the 80s and 90s with the Alexis Korner Tribute gigs; they became less and less relevant/supported and so soon withered on the vine and ended......
Cyril was my father's uncle. My father was influenced by him and had lessons in playing the guitar by Bert Jansch. I was touched to see how remembered Cyril is. Thanks Mary Davies
I 1st heard Cyril Davies on an EP left at my parents' house when I was about 10, the 1st time I played "Sweet Mary" it just blew me away!! tried to find it on here, but to no avail... a guy posted 55 secs of it once (??!!) anyone out there got a copy? anyone post it??
Based on O'Leary's playing, he'd be better off doing a Paul Butterfield tribute gig! There's no doubt he's managed to copy the great PB's licks......
