This was one of the most depressing games I ever bought (I have the PC version).

Godawful controls, especially in OFF mode, crashes to desktop, and terrible optimization (I had to play it at 800x600 and still had slowdown, my PC handles things like Oblivion at fairly high settings without a sweat).

Maybe the 360 version is better, but this game came off as an extremely poor quality ripoff of the Ace Combat series.

@SomeDumbYankee I dunno what you're talking about. My computer can play it on max resolution with DX10 full graphics without any slow down. I bought my computer 2 years ago.

It's never crashed on me once, and controls work great if you have a joystick. I would say it's decent, definitely not extremely poor quality.

yes it could be improved, but it's not horrible. I would give it at least 6.5/10 maybe 7/10 ^_^

@Lypur It's possibly the GeForce 8500, which isn't exactly a super video card, but it works just fine for many of the things I do. The crashes and/or optimization problems may be Vista issues, but again I don't see them in other games.

My main control issues were the ridiculous forced minimum speeds and that OFF mode was driven based on the camera instead of the aircraft. Neither would be addressed by a joystick.

The 360 would not really have any problem handeling 256 players online, seeing as it is all run on a server, and not the console it self. However the 360 would not be able to do games like Uncharted, MGS4 and Killzone 2. Still a great console though.

if you like arcade style air combat, then I would suggest this game to anyone who wants some fun. Of course Ace Combat is another good one. But remember it has been around for a long time, and Hawx is new.

And again, if we are talking realistic, go get LOMAC or Falcon 4.0

I want to tell to Ooga001 , it is very easy to drive but very difficult to shoot is like 3d and is very nice we're like a real fighter left and right click to shoot and WSAD to move around and move mouse to turn your face and space to bomb, backup by typing backup(fighters you need example backup22)so 22 of your friends fighter come in 5 minutes.There are many planes there and i love is ThunderBolt AV01! HAWX was fun but I'd still prefer Ace Combat 6, it had better production values such as a higher level of detail and better soundtrack and dialogue, plus, even though Ace Combat 6 had an arcade feel, the planes had somewhat of a realistic feel to them as well as the missile and gun physics which felt spot on. HAWX was still fun and good for people who want to jump right in to an easy to play arcade flight game but i prefer Ace Combats level of detail and semi-realism.

That is all true. I mean there is NO SUCH THING as a game being better then another game. I mean any game can be good but seriously, it is preference. For all anyone knows, Perfect Dark for the N64 could be better than Halo or GOW. It is all choice. One thing I did want in HAWX is the ability to take-off and land. Especially on AirCraft carriers. I think that would add a whole new level of fun. That is one reason why I want to try a flight sim with as good as graphics or better than HAWX.

and now to the other part of your comment, real life aircraft have more than 2 missiles... depending on their role they have a galing gun, 2 (mostly) AAMs radar guided, 2 AAMs IR guided, and then special armaments, like Ungiuded or laser and gps guided bombs, or those 4 targets simultanious missiles, etc.. so, while not with unlimited arms, real fghtrs are very heavily armed

I have H.A.W.X. for the PC with a 360 controller... I'm not a huge fan of one thing; the control stick seems to have a pretty large dead-zone. It's hard to make slight tweaks... eh, I'll probably get used to it. But anyway, I usually wait for my targets to stop turning too, but in H.A.W.X. you ahve a much better chance of hitting them mid-turn than you did in AC 4, 5 and probably 6.

it is turning the exhaust from the main engines in any direction other than just parallel with the jet. Think about the harrier jet. it can rotate its exhaust so it is pointing straight down and allows it to hover. Jets like the F-22 have something similar, they cant hover but they can angle their exhaust so they can make sharper turns, and that's thrust vectoring.
