I have not yet seen the film, but I would have to say that anything that teaches the American people where they may have came from is not "bad" even if the film is bad it may help someone to want to know where they came from, in my case I am mostly Celtic, but the Norse Pagan is brother to the Celtic Pagan, so there is always an upside to a shitty film, but like I said I have not seen it and cannot judge it from another persons opinion.
@TheCauthBodva "teaches the American people where they came from". What does that even mean? I think what you mean is, "teaches a very small group of Americans of Nordic descent only, where they came from". Also, the Nordics came from the east, while Celts were already all over Europe... and very mixed ethnically. Only most recently were they pushed west onto the British Isles. There are still Celts in Austria, the Lowlands, etc. There is no single "origin" of anybody.

In Canada the legend is Vikings settled peacefully with natives there. That makes me happy!
I like the concept. It's brilliant actually. Too bad it's pretty much ruined by the horrible editing, camera angles, random annoying stuff (like closeup of a dude dropping logs!, or headbanging to the background music) and the swedish dubbed random voices that accompany sentences of totally different meaning, which is very disturbing to experience when one knows scandinavian.
Haha yeah. This movie is terrible. The audio is so disturbing for anyone understanding scandinavian languages, or maybe for everyone. Too bad they used old Ingmar Bergman audio:P
to add to the fun, theres people randomly headbanging to metal in the middle of the movie, huge salmon sized fished in small, rocky creeks, they say only like 100 words in the entire movie, theres absolutely 0 historically accuracy, theres Satan worshipping Vikings, and tame dogs are supposed to be wild angry wolves.
It was 2 guys chopping wood, walking around, or looking at lakes half the time. Whoever did the camerawork couldnt hold the camera straight. And I could make a better movie in a nearby park with 2 guys.
This movie would've been so much better if it had better dialog. Seriously, the Norse didn't say shit like "This fish is really killer...". I'm sick of movies being made nowadays, it's like they're being written with 13 year old's in mind. Not only that, playing the same songs over and over and over... A song with "666" in the lyrics put to that church burning clip... LAME. The Norse didn't worship Satan so that didn't fit at all. I'm glad I watched this at a friend's house and didn't buy it.
when watching the movie just realize the uncertainty and the futile situation one may have gone through.

in a nutshell:the way a european and an american thinks(I'm not taking sides here, saying either is right or wrong) about these things is totally different and one has to realize/respect that in order to avoid unnecessairy misunderstandings...
@ironbird01 The best beowulf movie is Beowulf and Grendel and the 13th warrior. The icelandic viking movies are the best. Check them out, they are on tpb. White viking is one of them.
It was interesting, not bad, I didn't mind it. Too bad those "white nationalists", like Strmfront, will be sitting around jerking off to it and dressing up in their little "Vinland" costumes and all that, lol....
I don't care for any racial "nationalists" personally (even though none of them/none of you, HAVE a "nation" to be a nationalist for anyway). In this regard "nationalism" is just a new word for racism or at least racial separatism. Totally antiquated & dead idea; you are living in a different time, plain & simple. It's up to you to change your own thinking; it's harder on you to live w/that kind of mindset than it is for the rest of the world to ignore you.
exactly my thoughts man.you should keep in mind however that it's much more difficult for say a european or someone for example from china, japan, egypt or mesopotamia/the middle east or any other country/region with rich historical past to deny their history/national heritage(even though it may be an illusion as you said)all these countries for many reasons(social, economic, political etc)have invested heavily in instilling to their people a sense of national pride...
while your country the US on the other hand was created on exactly the opposite:the ability to assimilate people from different historical/national backrounds.there isn't much ''original/common'' american history, except for that of the pre-colombian natives(latinos).most of the others are immigrants and have nothing to connect them to this land(america) so it's easier for them to sever their ties with their homelands and adopt a whole different mentality, like the one you demonstrate here.
Today's "latinos" (as everyone tends to call them) are generally Mestizos (Latin and Native descent). How are Mexican Natives from Pre-Columbian time considered people from Latin Europe? That doesn't make any sense.
oh,ok,now I see where your objection comes from.you're right.these people have nothing to do genetically with europeans...I was only calling them ''latinos'' 'cause they speak latin-influenced dialects/idioms(mainly spanish influences to be more exact) and many of them(I think the majority)are catholic christians...
Many don't know where they come from or what tribal/ethnic group they would've belong to apart from the eponymous Aztec/Maya/Inca which are identities too broad yet are employed by people not willing to explore their genealogy. Apart from that, genuine Natives in "Latin America" typically have very reserved perceptions on Latinos seeing that Latinos tend to discriminate against Natives and is quite evident in many derogatory terms used that employ the usage of the word "Indio".
I liked this movie for what it was, in response to responses:
There was no gay sub plot, he was fighting between his own bloodlust and one set of gods and curiosity with a new religion.. it was all symbolism for current scandinavian youth and what part social constructs play etc. etc. blah blah
Peruvians are descendants of Incans, Inca has never had anything to do with Mexico, you are all argueing and you're all wrong
man,I don't see your point...all I ever said was that today's latinos,chicanos,indians,mestizos...-or whatever else you wanna'call them-have close ancestral links with the original indian natives of america, nothing more...
@chiprommel...yeah,right...I hope, for your sake, you're not older than 8-10 years old kiddo...otherwise,you're a helpless retard and God have mercy on your soul-amen...
That viking was headbanging forever in the movie, like it went on for a couple minutes and that was all the scene was. I tried watching this movie when I was on netflix but honestly I thought it really sucked and didnt even make it half way through before I backed out of it. aha
Just finished watching it. Was extremely impressive. Finally an impressive viking film since Douglass' classic. Anyways, if you're searching for it, Netflix has it to rent.
LongLocksofHair&BEARD(mind you)+woodman ship-correct bark or time to fashion a sweeping tool=Instant VIKING WISK. i support this trailor 100%, like I said, Native American tribes fended off the Chinese and likely West Africans before so depicting the PAiute Cerimonial dress would be nice, also i guess you can say the VIkgs were the men who worked hardest and people like the Scottish and Irish monks or men who involve themselves in ScottishRite could piggy back on the work vikngs did on the route
I wasn't aware that vikings (from which I decend) had such long flowing and well groomed hair and sat on treebranches headbanging to rock? Well... I guess I was wrong all along...
ZBRMusic, I didn't see anyone headbanging to rock in this clip. You shouldn't exaggerate. So you don't think people were capable of grooming? You don't think people had long flowing hair? Did they visit the barber? Come on, get a life.
does someone know whats the name of the song thats played when the vikings burn down the little church? not in the trailer, but in the movie! i must know that song before or i will never be able to sleep againg.
critics aren't artists and never can be. that's hollywood for you!! if you go to the official myspace page you'll find my photograph, which also urges you to sprint into the woods naked, hunt and then leap upon an enormously powerful, giant, stud moose and gnaw his throat out or commit blood eagle on yourself.
historic comment:it would be badass if you touched upon the story of the redhaired dress women would wear. donning what i believe to be last of the vikings' scalp furs and strands director
what do u think about the idea of Hewbrews, being constantly depicted in ancient art as red, and redhaired...something's up with that. The redhaired race..yeah the bearded viking pic is me and my heritage is from northern Norway and established in Oslo also.
Heathendude if you are in some way responsible for the making of this film, than you are truly a special person. thank you. this trailer makes me want to rape a man. it makes me want to melt the polar ice caps. i want to hug a child to protect it from my kill energy and shoot death rays out of me in all directions at cannibals.
This trailer makes me want to stand on top of a mountain and hurl thunderbolts at everything in sight. I want to rip the eyes from my own head and fight a bear. I want to burn a village while weeping and tear a giant wooden cross apart with my bear hands. I will name my son "severed ways" and he will kill me while i sleep.
The Vikings were already in the process of becoming Christianized by then, so the presence of a cross is at the very least possible, and probably likely. According to the Greenlander's Saga, Leif Erikson himself converted circa 1000 during a trip to Norway. And they say converts tend to be more zealous . . .

LongLocksofHair&BEARD(mind you)+woodman ship-correct bark or time to fashion a sweeping tool=Instant VIKING WISK. i support this trailor 100%, like I said, Native American tribes fended off the Chinese and likely West Africans before so depicting the PAiute Cerimonial dress would be nice, also i guess you can say the VIkgs were the men who worked hardest and people like the Scottish and Irish monks or men who involve themselves in ScottishRite could piggy back on the work vikngs did on the route

not every viking had blue eyes and blond hair or red...
afuckingbadass 3 years ago
I wasn't aware that vikings (from which I decend) had such long flowing and well groomed hair and sat on treebranches headbanging to rock? Well... I guess I was wrong all along...
ZBRMusic 3 years ago 2
dead wrong.
heathendude 3 years ago
ZBRMusic, I didn't see anyone headbanging to rock in this clip. You shouldn't exaggerate. So you don't think people were capable of grooming? You don't think people had long flowing hair? Did they visit the barber? Come on, get a life.

0:44 ... A carefully wellgroomed fellow is headbanging to rock music.
I have a wellfunctioning life, that also includes humor.
ZBRMusic 3 years ago
ZBRMusic, ok I see your point...lol That is kind of ridiculous and hilarious at the same time. I wonder if this movie is going to be any good at all.

critics aren't artists and never can be. that's hollywood for you!! if you go to the official myspace page you'll find my photograph, which also urges you to sprint into the woods naked, hunt and then leap upon an enormously powerful, giant, stud moose and gnaw his throat out or commit blood eagle on yourself.
historic comment:it would be badass if you touched upon the story of the redhaired dress women would wear. donning what i believe to be last of the vikings' scalp furs and strands director

what do u think about the idea of Hewbrews, being constantly depicted in ancient art as red, and redhaired...something's up with that.

Why would there be a cross in North America in 1007 AD?
Onnarashi 4 years ago
prehaps teh mormon faith is real lmao
sounirvalice1 4 years ago
The Vikings were already in the process of becoming Christianized by then, so the presence of a cross is at the very least possible, and probably likely. According to the Greenlander's Saga, Leif Erikson himself converted circa 1000 during a trip to Norway. And they say converts tend to be more zealous . . .
