  • i mean i know they have the money to rebuild the engine 100x over but those bearings must be toast after each run! the surge is just painful to listen to

  • i see the future of DIRT!!

  • what's the sqeeking sound when come to corners????

  • @SoneKin94 turbo

  • That turbo chatter is insane !

  • @tomtaylorU Blow off valve is doing that, not the turbo.. amazing isn't it?

  • didnt like the sound editing.

  • 2:07 God Damn Flash.

  • NICE!!!

  • 100% copy of Ari Vatanen with Peugeot 406 t16 pikes pike video...

no imagination for creating a new video????

  • @stefvs6 maybe they could be doing it as sort of a tribute

  • @stefvs6 because that video was awesome and they also want to make an awesome video

  • RESPECT GREAT DRIVER!!

  • ouh and btw the driver has the title as worlds best rally driver that ever existed, with 26y!

  • lol lil fanboy get some facts before call ford bullshit. as s1 came out ford had already the escort and sierra cosworth which made 450hp from 2l/4cylinders,s1 with his 500hp from 2,5l/5cylinder is rediculous compared to the fords.audi is a piece of shit with much faked image for dumb tv-kids like you ;)

  • @Wilson84KS Amen !!!!

  • Four Overworked Refuge Drivers.

  • Vatanen told him to wear sun glasses? ;)

  • Turbo Flutter FTW

  • The sound of European rallycars!

  • Love the sounds that cars makin

  • Go Blue Oval!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • he is driving slow like a fucking retarded, Walter Röhrl and Audi S1 Quattro forever not that front driven ford bullshit!

  • @MultiPinasco Except that it's rear-wheel drive, retard.

  • @MattuhliciousTM actually, this is 4WD mate XD

  • SEE so what if they fucking beat the record. It's not the same Pikes Peak anymore. TOO MUCH PAVEMENT ! !

  • i cant belive the want to tar this road :(

  • fuck you pavement, you just ruined the dirt joy.

  • Top speed of 85 woooooahhhh.

    jk jk

  • 85 people are redneck NASCAR fans

  • freakin awesome^^. hell jeah. nice one

  • anyone can tell me the name of the start songs?? thank you

  • i like it when it says 2.0L duratec turbo 800HP

  • What road is it ??

  • @AlexxGGamer - What road is it? Are you serious?

  • these cars are so beautiful

  • nice

  • who edited this video??? a five year old???

they took away the best of rallying...

  • What is that sound? it is brakes??

  • @MikeJoshua123

The blow off valve from the turbo

  • @MikeJoshua123 Anti-lag.

  • @MikeJoshua123 Compressor surge

  • what is that horrible sound?

  • @161194 well, we can debate if it's "horrible", let's just say it is "unique"...:) but from the technical standpoint it is a dump valve - which is controlling (limiting) safe levels of pressure in the intake manifold.

  • @tubocaldo i thought that should only sound when throttle is released? it looks to me that it comes when he is not releasing the throttle on straight lines

  • @161194 you are thinking of a blow-off valve, which releases boost pressure to avoid compressor surge. A dump valve is controlling the pressurized air that is trying to get back through the turbo compressor. The fluttering sound is the sound of this air against the blades of the spinning turbo compressor.

  • I wonder how many different cameras they had set up lol

  • Sexiest sounds ive ever heard... damn

  • that's great

  • So what was his time?????

  • @skamatt23 ... no to be a smart ass... but I'm guessing about 9 minutes.

  • @Medium0Rare The world record is 9:51 set just this past year, so no, he's def over 10 minutes

  • I wonder how massive the turbo is, to get that 2L thing up to 800hp ...

And I love the rugged artisanal (= full of duct tape) cockpit :)

  • Montage is akward.

  • Reall cheap for ford to copy Peugeot commercial.

  • This is mister stick.

  • do you have to use the clutch each time you shift with a sequential transmission or just for take off?

  • @1337gam3r07 just for launching, after that you just pull/push the shifter

  • That chirping noise is really annoying, it's gotten to the point of not improving the sound of the car, but masking it. and lol, love the duct tape in the car.

  • hate that blow-off valve sound. too much of it

  • @Parus0 right, its too much at that point

  • wowie awesome quality! thumbs up for that :)

  • I want a 4wd ford fiesta too.. :(

  • Can someone plz tell me what's the name of blow off valve that makes this sound???

  • @kontrakides93 I think its called a dump valve....

  • @kontrakides93 There is no blow off / dump valve.. the sound is the air blowing back through the turbo

  • @CbrBlackblade aKa compressor surge, turbo flutter, turbo chatter ect

  • LIsten to the fucking TURBO!

  • Remember this is MARCUS GRONHOLM driving, 2x WRC Champion and a Finn ! Bloody hell his driving style is so smooth and attack attack attack! Come Back to WRC MARCUS !

  • "blow off valve" - not "low off valve". Before you skewer me it was just a typo, I'm on my iPod.

  • Some of you seriously need to go to automotive 101 before attempting to provide advice. The noise you hear is in fact a low off valve (BOV). It sits on the intake side of the turbo. When it senses vacuum the internal piston/valve within the BOV is instantly opened the moment you let off the gas, allowing the charged air an ALTERNATE route to take instead of flowing backwards through the turbo. It can now vent to the atmosphere, which eliminates compressor surge and maintains spool up of the tu

  • @flre180

No, it goes back through the turbo. That is the noise you are hearing. It doesn't cause lag because they know how to drive and keep rpms up. Lag is not a factor in most racing but more of a factor in daily driving.

It is however hard on turbos and is not recommended for a daily driver. In other words... don't try this at home.

  • ach komm, der walter röhrl würde dann auch zweiter werden auf dem genialen audi!

  • @MangoTangoFOx they should make it as DLC

  • Darnit, Dirt 3 is such a fun game, but I want a 20 minute or longer rally/hill climb like this.

  • HAHA this is filmed like CLIMB DANCE of Ari Vatanen...

  • I wanna drive this on DiRT.........

  • great

  • how does no one no wat turbo wastegate chatter is reeeeally, basically happens from running alot of boost its the turbo eating away at its self but worth it for the sound :P

  • This video is freaken awesome i do wish though we could have seen a little more footwork.

  • doesnt ford make make ecoboost 4 cylinder for the fiesta?

  • @punchmaster123

Not yet... The Fiesta ST should come around in a few years.

  • Speed limit 20? Screw that

  • Great video. I love all of the camera angles and great sound.

  • Sounds like a loose anus.

  • Man these rally Fiestas are just badass. The Quattro and Stratos and WRX were cool, but come on guys....move into the 2010s. This thing is so hot right now.

  • It was one hit wonder!

  • A true thing of beauty to watch. Excellent vid, thanks!

  • Heres the thing about your car, its so safe, so much safety! 7 airbags 1-2-3-4-5-6-siete

  • you can hear when turbo whistle :D

  • fu*k nascar this is real driving sport

  • @xjanosikx

Why would you even remind us of that horrible anal ring known as nascar?

  • @jshaw6600 I reminded you so you can know why you forgot abut it

  • @xjanosikx right and you assume that on several words I typed, wow you are a WIZARD...

  • @xjanosikx you obviously know nothing about racing

  • @xjanosikx nascar they just go round and round :D not the most creative thing ever

  • @xjanosikx atleast here they turn right

  • @xjanosikx well at least, say F U C K NASCAR...DUDE

  • you will do much better with WRX (y)

  • I think they may have stuck one of the recording microphones INSIDE the blow-off valve :)

  • @ProperJimmied

This car does not have a blow off valve. This is backpressure on the turbo from the throttle plate closing.

  • @roor20 yes it does ....

  • @lloydieb123

I understand how a BOV and back pressure on a turbo sound similar to a novice and that is ok but you are incorrect. This car DOES NOT have a BOV. This is the turbo "fluttering" from back pressure as the throttle plate closes.

If you still are too full of yourself to actually browse youtube for other cases of this same sound then at least entertain us with the make and model BOV this car uses.

I was under the hood of this car the same day it went up this "hill". Were you?

  • 2:09 BAM!!!

  • I would love to see Pike's Peak become one of the WRC's official race...

  • fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

  • every gear change sounds like an orgasm to my ears. yum

  • thats the bov=blow of valve

  • @TheKillahAkASuperP blow 'off' valve

  • @TheKillahAkASuperP

No BOV on this car. Its back pressure on the turbo from the throttle plate closing.

  • what's that giggling sound of the engine?

  • Just drove Pikes Peak Highway last month. The top section is paved now for the first time. I'm not a hillclimb expert but I'm predicting some shattered records this year.

  • yo manejo mejor derrapando..

  • una verga yo manejo mejor ..

  • this track must be in dirt 3 :P

  • Nice driving but Ari Vatannen still rocks

  • @katmandu699 if ur referring toe the fluttering sound its the blow off valve from the massive turbo when u shift all the built up pressure has to go somewhere and its better if it goes out through a blow off valve than through the turbo where it came from.

  • Ford Fiesta back on PP in 2011???

  • OOOPS! 2:08

  • rally>nasscar

  • thats a hell of a bov

  • The Rear Spoiler probably weighs more than the whole car! LOL

  • Comment removed

  • @MultiBlam It's the turbo blow-off valve.

  • why is it that this thing barks like a dog when it shifts? lmao

  • @MultiBlam Dont know exactly but I've heard it has to do with the teeth of the gear. They are more thin, than the normal, and when switching gears they do that noise.

  • Still no Walter Rohrl

  • @KombatKarl88 Search Targa Tasmania Walter Reohrl......Great videos

  • @KombatKarl88 Search Targa Tasmania Walter Reohrl......Porsche YouTube channel.....Great videos

  • @KombatKarl88 Search Targa Tasmania Walter Reohrl......

  • i want this car !!! :D

  • Very nice

  • its doesnt look like 800 bhp car run

  • This run looks so much faster than the sx4. WRC drivers #1.

  • I don't get the rear wing... why the huge slot gap/bi-wing set-up? It doesn't make any sense to me.

  • @heelandtoe33 The wing makes the car MORE stable at high speeds.

It also makes the car behave far differently with it because of it size meaning that the driver has WAY MORE control not only in high speeds but everywhere. :) More grip on the rear tires as well but that the depends on how heavy the wing is. :p

  • @StudiosXPS No, I understand the purpose of having a wing, but I don't understand why they have set up the flap of the wing to be almost horizontal. If you look at every other high-downforce rear wing ever designed, there is a LOT of camber and a very high angle of attack courtesy of several elements mounted closely together. What I see here are two slim profiles that would produce very little downforce, despite their span and chord.

  • @heelandtoe33 this seems more like compromise between stability and top speed

  • @TheOKapal That's exactly my point. Every other car has huge camber in the wing, and a big AOA. This one has a weird low-downforce set-up, and it doesn't make sense. They are never going fast enough to gain much from the low drag. Personally, I think it was set-up by someone that knows a lot about suspension or engines, but hardly anything about aerodynamics.

  • @heelandtoe33

Reduces drag, doubles the effective downforce without a massive wing resulting in huge drag figures.

I'd guess lower wing kicks up the air following the line of the roof, upper wing probably is to maintain downforce at higher speeds when the air is being less deflected down the roof line. Its a similar sort of idea to the double deck diffusers in formula 1 (which are now banned - as they made driving the car too easy as it was so good as generating downforce)

  • @Joey2911 (1) Reducing drag isn't much of an issue at Pikes Peak. Look at Millen's car. Look at the Audis, Peugeots, Toyotas and Suzukis that have run there... you think they're wrong with their set-up? They all got records... (2) Double-diffusers don't work how you think they work. By having a hole in the floor of an F1 car, linked to an expansion chamber (upper diffuser), it creates a low pressure zone around the hole in the floor. It doesn't act like a bi-wing.

  • @heelandtoe33

Cool, I was just guessing, but thanks for the info. Don't follow Pikes Peak so don't exactly know what the requirements are. If you find out why they use a bi-wing then please do tell, it would be interesting to find out.

  • I'd love to see an old Quattro or Lancia Delta or Stratos climb this :X

  • @Ievolovel

I feel you. the days back then we're awesome

  • @Ievolovel Who wouldn't? :)

  • never trought i would say that, but now i wanna have a fiesta !

  • love the turbo!

  • @imstm They got 800-hp from a 2.0-liter Duratec Ford engine.

  • SBO !

  • this car mid engine?

  • lol at the 20 mph speed limit signs.

  • must be nice to run with out a bov, i know compressor surge is bad but it sounds so good.

  • it must be because that car is 99% custom made that it held together..... my moms 02 focus hit 100k miles and literally fell apart

  • Thanks for the race Gronholm! =-)

  • i thing that is a bad copy from the "climp dance'.but the little ford is cool

  • Whats the average speed, lets say time is 7.866 minutes (from 0:50 to 8:42) so is 0.1311 hours (7.866/60)

Length is 12.42 miles, so average speed is (12.42/ 0.1311) = 94.7 mph. Surely I've done something wrong, do they really go that fast? Woah lol

  • @TheGrinningSkull Nope, sorry, checking another vid, time (Rhys Millen), taking his time at 12.16 minutes, doing same calculations and average speed is around 61.3 mph. Still faster than the national speed limit haha :P

  • listen to that blow off valve

  • @2bidfilmsguy sounds like compressor surge to me, I don't even think that they are using a bov

  • I CANT HANDLE THA "CALMNESS" xD

  • Comment removed

  • @RangerNerf Wait I meant 5:38. What is that noise

  • Gronholm is a great driver.

Looking forward to seeing Sebastien Loeb in that race.

  • i like how ford has their shit duct taped down.....

  • @Drummin4Ish ya me to...i wonder if that's how it came from the factory

  • Scandinavians are seriously Good drivers. They are born for speed. yet most of us are try to speed.

  • you people do realise the cars running pikes peak are in excess of 1000hp right? that turbo is putting down some seriously high boost!

  • ken blocks no moster.

that man truly knows how to drive

  • the engine is near off 'out' !

  • That pffting sound is killing the turbo...it`s called turbo flutter..

  • @80AFT is that what bov get rid of? and surely if the rally car is doing it the engineers most either not care or it has some benefit

  • @80AFT Do you think that really matters to them lol
