Please check out my music video that features my 1985 dodge 600es convertible here in the UK. You never know if I can get enough hits it might put the value up !!!
I had two K-Cars, a 88 Reliant and a 86 Daytona, both great running little cars, dependable. My Daytona, a Shelby-Z, could smoke 5.0 Mustangs all day. Also, I believe base HP for the 2.2 was 86, not 22, and right at about a hundred for the 2.5. I've heard of the 2.6 Hemi, but I never drove a car with one. It was when you hooked a turbo up to the k-cars and all those other little modifications that they became screamers. Want proof of newer four banger performance, race a Dodge Neon.
After 6 months of watching this on and off, it is still hilarious!! A friend of mine had the wagon, and it had the 2.6 "hemi" as they called it, which with that hemi option I think it put out, oh about 23 hp, instead of the stocker's 22hp. Oh yeah, and the carb needed to make that extra horsey, it was a total nightmare to get set up right. Be loud, be proud of that "K"!!
Hey man, funny video. We had a K car years ago. It was the mother of all cars. Never broke down once. Plowed through snow, ice and rain like a hot knife through butter. Killer car.
Great job! I was ROFLMAO! I have a couple of these, a convertible and a wagon and I like them quirks and all! The Conv has the 146HP turbo. The K car actually saved Chrysler Corp from bankruptcy in the 80's as it was so successful. Lee Iacocca would love this!
GREAT job, very witty! I was ROFLMAO. As for me...I have owned a couple of these cars, one a bare bones wagon version that I delivered mail in, and now for a fun second car I have a 1986 Chrysler Lebaron engine!
In truth it was a very successful car in its time. The K car is the car that saved Chrysler Corporation in the 1980's, and was the brainchild of Lee Iacocca. He would probably get a kick out of seeing this!
I used to have to drive one of the older wagons at my job. The quality control on these things was just unbelievably bad. The doors wouldn't always want to open, if they did it was even money they wouldn't close again. The metal groaned like a sinking ship. It steered like a truck and the accelerator pedal felt like an exercise machine for your ankle...lots of resistance. These cars were used where I work as replacements for the Ford Pintos we had earlier...
I had a Reliant K wagon. It'd actually hit (confirmed, on the highway O.O) 85MPH, with a little more left. Of course, I had the optional engine. 2.5 SOHC, EFI, 110hp.
My Micra has a 1 litre 50hp engine, and I got that up to 95mph. I have a 4 speed manual box in it. It all boils down to the type of gearbox (manual or auto) & gear ratios, if they're too close, the car will have a slow top speed.
Haha, you stole my idea! One of my friends had one of these. It's SO slow! I don't know if you edited this or what, but awsome job. Make it just a bit shorter and it'd be like a real commerical!
I had an Aries, and I had to floor it to get up this hill to get to my house, which was about a 30-degree angle. Floored, I still couldn't exceed the 25 mph speed limit. Oh, yeah, that's wicked.
It sucked in the summer though, when I had to choose between having the air conditioner on, or having the engine work.
