Sure, you could get a similar guitar, all koa, HSS, floyd rose, etc, but it wouldn't be anywhere near as nice or sound anywhere near as good, I know because I have played many Carvins, including the top of the line CS6 and DC400
The guitar is great, but your amp is not that good right? Too much distortion and a thin tone. But the guitar is beautifull and looks beautifully crafted as it should being a Suhr instrument.

I'm thinking to get a suhr with gold hardware as well. What's the pros and cons of gold hardware that you would advice me. cos some guitars do look gorgeous with gold hardware but some people say the gold will wear off after some time?... I'm not sure if I should get one with gold cos I live in a pretty humid environment so will it speed up the process even more? and how does suhr gold hardware condition goes?
I have a Suhr Modern Trans Orange Custom and recently I ordered a Modern with a curly Koa top...and I wanted the same color as yours(kinda chocolate) and they said that it was "natural gloss"...so right now,I m not sure anymore,could you show me the specs of you guitar to see the name of the color cause I didn t find "stained koa wood" in the Suhr color chart.

I got a guitar with a thin neck too man, only problem with thin necks is that over time, ur neck will start moving as in, the action will be perfect during one set, and when you put the guitar down during intermmission into the next set, sometimes the action will be totally different! Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Nice guitar and some nice speedy licks. To all those bellends out there slagging off the tone, it's the camera mic not the amp. I've got a flextone III and it's by far and away the most versatile amp I've ever. It does everything. Perfect jazz tones, funk and reggea clean, dirty blues right through to angrier, purer (and louder) than my shredtastic mates Engle beast. It even out Marshall's my previous JCM!

They way it works with Suhr is that everything guitar is basically custom to order. Since the Pro's are less customizable and have less fancy asthetics they are more affordable. However, they are still over 2k. I buy all my gear from MattsMusic. He will get you a quote. Trust me, i have a wife and a baby....i know what its like :P

I play tons of Reb too are you the guy on his forums with that same icon. I think we have talked a couple times. I think that you are one of the only people other than myself that i have seen pick with their fingers and keep you hand still. If you want to play beach you have to learn extreme palm muting. You cant sound good on winger tunes and have your wrists flappin all over. Ill see you on the forums if this in fact you.
They are handmade in the USA from the finest selection of woods. They are the best playing guitars. They are plek'ed so the playability is amazing. My Suhr plays like its been my #1 for a decade...like an old pair of jeans!
Thanks for taking the time to leave two negative comments. The funny thing is, I never claim to be Steve Vai in my videos and acually these videos arent so easy. I don't practice for them or even prepare for them. I wing it so my playing is sometimes awful. Also, from a tone standpoint. I was playing through a crappy Line 6 amp and relying on the tiny mic on the video camera for the audio. So next time have a little consideration before posting.

Yeah he picks with his thumb and index and middle fingers extended. I always tell people not to pick like that when they are starting out, but this guy can actually play like that and with good speed. Goes to show you, like marty friedman, any one can make it work.
Far too much gain, have to admit ive always hated way reb has his guita setup. Bridge warbles the notes to much when picking. Tremsetter or more springs would help a lot.
the thin tone is more of how he's picking. When you turn your pick up like that, it slices the strings instead of hitting with the meat of the pick.
Also, you get a messier sound because the palm can't mute those bass strings as you play. See how he stops the strings after he plays a lick. Watch EJ or someone mute out the low strings as they play. Now that's good technique.
No I'm a luthier. The more mass a guitar has the more tone it has. The less mass it has the thinner it sounds. A thinner neck sounds thinner than a les pauls thick 59 neck. It all has to do with mass when it comes to tone.
I dont understand when you say on the 2:05 "YOU CAN DO THIS ON THIS GUITAR".... that thing than you do if anybody have the technique can do it,STUPID!Its not necesary have a SUHR to do it...

When I was at GIT I took some lessons from Paul Gilbert. He showed me how he used to hold his pick....you hold yours the same way.

I was playing through a crappy Line 6 amp and relying on the tiny mic on the video camera for the audio. So next time have a little consideration before posting.

Yeah he picks with his thumb and index and middle fingers extended. I always tell people not to pick like that when they are starting out, but this guy can actually play like that and with good speed. Goes to show you, like marty friedman, any one can make it work.

Depends on what pickups you are using. There are MANY passives that level EMG's for dynamics.

Far too much gain, have to admit ive always hated way reb has his guita setup. Bridge warbles the notes to much when picking. Tremsetter or more springs would help a lot.

the thin tone is more of how he's picking. When you turn your pick up like that, it slices the strings instead of hitting with the meat of the pick.
Also, you get a messier sound because the palm can't mute those bass strings as you play. See how he stops the strings after he plays a lick. Watch EJ or someone mute out the low strings as they play. Now that's good technique.

No I'm a luthier. The more mass a guitar has the more tone it has. The less mass it has the thinner it sounds. A thinner neck sounds thinner than a les pauls thick 59 neck. It all has to do with mass when it comes to tone.

I should have looked at it as is? I'm a guitar instructor at Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA. I hear them all and excuses, Sorry also to have misspelled Talant I know that must make you feel better to have point that out? Suhr's are great guitars, but Koa (like Reb Beech) sounds sterile, so Ill give you the benefit or its your technique, Now get back and try to learn something?

This is one of the worst tones from a Suhr that I've ever heard! Total Buzz-Saw? Your playing has "NO TALANT" at all. But I'm sure you'll justify with some excuse. Go and get some lesson, at least 10yrs and leave guitar playing to those that can, serious.
