  • There are other ships that are bigger.

  • Seawise Giant (1979-1989) Jhara Viking (Idk) Knock Nevis (Idk) is 1,504.10 feet long. It weighs 563,763 tons and is powered by a humungus steam turbine. Japan alongated it after they dicided to. Now, 2 years after Knock Nevis was rammed into a indian beach and taken apart, it was still the largest oil tanker in the world!

  • Knock Nevis is bigger!

  • jahre viking is the biggest ship ever build

  • titanic was bigger

  • there are bigger ships.

  • UMM Just in case no-body told you the nock nevis was bigger, this is a gherkin jerkers boat, stick to pickle tickling leave the boat vids to the adults.

  • now that there taking knock nevis apart this boat probably the biggest:)

  • I live in Duluth,MN. ive seen more ships go under the Ariel Bridge than i can count, but when a 1000 footer passes silently in the canal, than hits the horn and your chest vibrates, its like its my first time. At that moment, it is the biggest ship ever. I dont think ThedevilsWater could have come up with a better title.

  • The British nautical long ton - being the ratio of the length, width and height, multiplied by the draft divided by the dead weight tonnage, makes the Gay Fair, the largest super tanker ever created. Knock Knevis was under weight by 170,000 tons alone.

  • i worked on that ship hell ya matt caputo

  • this is not" the biggest ship in the world"

  • @39blaze, ships don't have keels. Flat bottom is very common in oceangoing ships because it's cheaper.

  • The last laker constructed that has any charisma at all is the Roger Blough. All the 1,000 footers are basically powered barges. I weep for Great Lakes shipping.

  • @htc6600 that is so true once the lakers went to the one superstructure ....

  • Technically, not a ship. If it sails the Lakes, it's a "boat". From canoe to mega ore/taconite carrier, they're all "boats".

Still, it must have been awesome to pass in a pleasure craft.

  • @BenAliGtor, the sailing area has nothing to do with classification.

  • Knock Nevis is bigger.

lol sorry, had to go there. Thats still a good size canoe there.

  • biggest boat ive seen but so small

  • i'm joking

  • knock nevis in bigger...muahahuah

  • I saw the Mesabi Miner a few years back in Duluth too! Amazingly huge.

  • @thehoff1982 They should also probably take 12 seconds to read the description

  • no this is not the biggest ship ever !!

knock nevis is the biggest ship ever!!

  • Well, your mom is pretty much right! The Masabi is one of 13 ships of this size built for The Great Lakes! She is 306 meters long! The Tregurtha only exceeds her in length by 3 meters! There were 13 lakers of this size built (Masabi was the 4th, Tregurtha was the 13th) The Masabi Miner IS one of the biggest on the lakes! You are 100% right mom!

Other ships mentioned here are not lake freighters! Hope you got some good photos!

  • knock nevis is the biggest ship ever, and that ship does not be it.

  • no the jahre viking at 1504 ft is the largest

  • happy giant, seawise giant , jahre viking knock nevis, is the same boat, it has that 4 names

  • Those are EX names from different owners

  • @619cactusjack technically Knock Nevis WAS the biggest ship ever. as of this year she is scrapped.

  • @619cactusjack Knock Nevis is not a ship, It is a FSO.

Jahre Viking was the biggest ship ever, biceaus then she still sailed.

Currently, TI Europe class are the largest ships in the world (in tonnage, not in length).

    Jahre Viking is scrapped allready.

  • @sjem618 You do realize that Knock Nevis and Jahre Viking is one and the same ship, right?

  • @streetstream Ofcourse, but Knock Nevis is Jahre Viking converted into a FSO.

Many people forget that a FSO is not really a ship.

  • Gotta be hard to post a video when all these ship-nerds have to point out that its not the biggest ship in the world... Anyway its a pretty massive ship to experience closehand :)

  • so true!

and i also read a post by a guy saying that TITANIC never was a big ship, lol

  • We don't use feet and other imperial units to describe the length of a vessel.

  • yeah its massive biggest in the world so you'd expect it to be !!

  • the knoch nervis or jahre viking as we call it is the biggest ship in the world!

  • yeah i know mate was the seawise giant then Jahre Viking now its called the Knock Nevis 564,650 DWT its massive but not sailing anymore its just a floating oil store in the middle east owned by Fred Ollsen shipping

  • sorry your talking about the great lakes :-(

  • Oh, no problem. The Knock Nevis sounds like a monster!

  • dont want to spoil the party but the Knock Nevis is nearly 500 ft longer at 1504 ft long and 225 ft wide weighing in when loaded at 564,650 DWT Still thats a big ship by any means

  • She is big, but not the largest ship on the great lakes. That title would be held by the 1013' Paul R Tregurtha.

  • Yeah, I have seen the Paul as well - quite impressive! I just titled it this because you can hear my mom saying that in the background! :)

  • Lol then tell her what I just told you!

  • Haha, yeah, I filmed this before we knew about the Paul, but since then we've discovered this webcam of the canal, it has the shipping schedule of the incoming and outgoing ships plus their lengths. We'll both sit and watch it, but it doesn't compare to being right up there with the ships! ;)

  • dang thats a big mo' fo
