i like the background music. but i liked the song until the sweaty man started sweating and spitting and yelling with his raspy voice. i see his taleent, i just think the music behind him has more potential than to be paired with drooling raspy yelling. he and the music dont coenside together. but separate theyd be awesome.
I'm in Asia. And I'm just listening to this beautiful thing and the only way I can express myself is that thing black women do in church agreeing with full faith the words of the pastor. Dan must be god because man, you read my heart out so well. I'm sure you read and reach the hearts of many.
It's all about the lyrics and to be honest It's what music should be all about, Pop "artist" doesn't care about lyrics as long everything sounds catchy, and listener is the opposite of that. Heart is what makes listener a good band, emotional coneccion towards the lyrics.
@richidt17 ummm no music shouldnt be all about lyrics cause then there wouldn't be any music, your looking for poetry my good friend and even that has a beat to it. people forget that the voice is an instrument too and that we use it melodically even when were just talking. poetry can be music but music can be much much more then poetry ever could some of the best tracks iv heard where instrumental only and i got so much out of it. of course subjectivity plays a big part in this hahahaha
The first time I heard this song was when I put my Ipod on shuffle after a friend uploaded a ton of music to it. My first reaction was, "Wow this is horrible, skip" but one night while my Ipod was on shuffle , this song came on again, and I was too lazy to reach for my Ipod, and I listened to the full song, and loved it, I saw the beauty that was actually there.
@YoungBotchHeads shame indeed. these guys make beautiful music. this is pure heart right here. it's just too bad so many kids are so obsessed with image and what "sounds cool" that they can't appreciate soul like this.
I feel like he was cloned from the DNA of the lead singers of mewithoutYou, EP-era Against Me, and Gogol Bordello. Either way, he knows his way around blank piece of paper.
Every time something strays from the mainstream, people have to hate and call it "hipster". All it is is people being themselves; being creative and new. They are expressing themselves. They are being a leader, rather than a follower. That's why when you guys call something "hipster", I think it's the greatest compliment you can give because all it means is that it's more daring, brave, and courageous than anything you'll ever come up with musically.
@Emiester21 considering he did an extremely commendable job at combining a sense of 19th century Victorian Florid prose, but still allowing the sentences to be concise and compelling he succeeded in the art of spoken word in a capacity that far exceeds any poet I've heard of recent with maybe the exception of Hughes.
You need to listen to it more than once to truly appreciate it. I've been listening to this for a while, I'm surprised there isn't a "replay limit" or else I would've gotten it a few times. Really, though, great song.
@caitlinxcatastrophex I tend to agree. Rather than bashing him, maybe they could take into consideration the sincerity, and vulnerability in these songs, and that they aren't really meant for us or him, but to bring glory to God.
@TheTortillaChip Those are both the least hipster bands, When my 50 year old mom is talking to me about mumford and sons and how it's played in her spinning class.... I don't think it's hipster.
Hipster is shit like Mumford and Sons and Rattata. Thats what hipsters think is "creative" when it's really just re-done bullshit to feed the hipster generation.
@emiester21 you sat through the video so why bother talking shit? if you don't like it don't listen, don't hate on something others think is beautiful just because you have nothing better to do.
there is nothing pretentious or hipster about this. Ive seen this guy play with nothing but metal and hardcore bands, not fleet foxes or the shins. Its just poetry, nothing more.

People obviously don't know what hipster is, calling this Hipster.
Hipster is something that people find creative that people have done over and over in the past, trying to fit in with the latest trend.
This is definitely unique in its own, and if you're calling this hipster, you need to get your head checked.
