@aklane666 I'm not sure what he's using, but it really doesn't matter. Any leather thick enough to protect your legs will be fine, I've even used an old pair of jeans

nice!! i have a hard time finding big pieces of obsidian like that up in northern nevada. any specific places that might giv me a sign that lots of obsidian will be? thanks

Best bet is to make a trip to Davis Creek, Ca or Glass Buttes Oregon. There's plenty of large rock at both places and its not far from northern Nevada. You need to dig for the large rock, but it is worth it.
