Not to mention pleading with Dumbledore to keep Lily safe, and have her die anyway. He still pushed on. (Yes I get crazy when it comes to Snape.)

Something else just occurred to me. Rickman covers himself in his cloak here almost self-consciously. In Deathly Hallows, Young Snape hid himself under a over-sized "bat like" men's coat the first time he met Lily evans. Here we see Adult Snape is still hiding himself in front of "Lily's" eyes! Rickman is a genius!

And Hermione is acting exactly as I imagine young Lily Would have her first day in class.
