Hey Ed i was just wondering what you use for the panels that you use to do the lightning or some of the others that you have done like the carbon fiber with the shelf liner. I hope its nothing that i should already know or im going to feel stupid!
Ed, I've done a few brushed dashboards in my days and an easy way to get your circles straight is to use a drill press. I've also done some pretty wild designs with bridgeports and cnc mills. I've also used the scotch bright pads and flamed stainless panels for cabinets.
First of all let me thank you for the availability of your vids here.
I would love to learn the technics you show, but as I am not a English speaker I need to know if the DVD includes transcriptions/subtitles.
If so I will buy your videos. If not, pls consider that ppl from other countries also want to buy, but with so many diferent technics and materials, it is not an easy task.
@Mistersensato No,sorry it does not.I have thought about it. But it would be a lot more work to add it and I would have to raise all of my prices on my videos to every one.
@edhubbs Got it!! :) you give a lot of free info and advise, which is sooo awesome man, I really appreciate all the vids you put together. It has really helped with my airbrushing. Thank you!!
Hey Ed, what did you lay down on the panel before shooting the candy? Was it a basecoat blender or a clear coat of some sort? I want to job with this technique but don't want to even attempt it before knowing all the steps first. Thanks
@HackerGuitarist I own a tool and die shop and we machine all types of metals, basic to exotic (stellite, titanium, ect.) Cutting , grinding or polishing aluminum is not a problem if you know what you are doing. You saw Ed do it in the video. Do you think it was a trick done with mirror's or something?
if you own a tool and die shop than ..I hope to god, you know the difference between a sander and a grinder ! if you don't than I wonder what kind of operation your running. Do you actually know the difference between a sander and a grinder?
The operation is called Full Blown Kustoms, not Full Blown Kustom Tools, but that would be cool... Dude Full Blown Kustom Tools put NOS on my paint gun and super charged my air compressor! The tool he used is called an angled air die grinder.
Ed, did you fade kandy colors on the panel or is that just a reflection at 0:10?
thanks for the video man :) love the look of ground metal!! also good to see you using auto air cause what i use to...... have you seen the panel done by simon murray with ground metal then he masked out flames? looks killer :)
have you ever tried to paint an rc shell? you have to paint the clear shell from the inside out. kinda tricky. would love to see how you would do at it! maybe a future video! lol

cool tho this is "sanded" metal ..you would never want to "grind' aluminum..
cool effect
HackerGuitarist 1 year ago
If you don't mind me asking, what is your opinion why you shouldn't grind aluminum?
Because I disagree with you and would like to know why you think that. Thanks.
Ed Hubbs.
edhubbs 1 year ago
Hi Ed ! I consider "grinding" as, using a hard wheel like a larger handheld grinder , bench grinder..ect
aluminum is so soft that it will clog the wheel/disc instantly, than heat up and melt into the surface or cut.
I have seen a couple grinding wheels explode in my day when the aluminum built up enough to cause the disc to crack.
A machinist would never grind aluminum.

Oh Ok Man now I understand what you are saying. Because what I do isn't really like that and that is I didn't understand. Thank you for replying.

It might be a out of this world question to you but ,how can you polish a scratched ipod? the back is like aluminum..
Jed9133 1 year ago
Really not sure about that one.
edhubbs 1 year ago
Use buffing compounds and a buffing wheel.
SpankyTheHouseRat 1 year ago
try some rubbing compound but im not too sure due to the thickness of the metal.
