  • Incredible LIVE performances by ABBA. Great quality :) !

  • best 4 ever......thanks ABBA...

  • ШЕДЕВР!!!

  • amo muito! a melhor banda e musicas da eternidade!

  • I just want to ask.. is this the only live performance of Super Trouper?

  • I think you can tell that this was nearing the end of ABBA... For a LIVE concert, they don't seem overly happy to be there- you can tell they'd lost something... This being 1981, would be the year just after the couples split up.

  • have the voices a chorus fx or am I wrong?

  • This song brings back many memories... loved listening to it when i was a kid.

  • Hell, i thought this was a comedy written by broken lizard . ..

pinch my nutz, and call my Jerry!

  • They sound totally original ,like no one else.I can't begin to figure out how they put their songs together when they write them. What comes 1st,,the vocals or the chords?Who writes their songs?

  • Can't help but notice this is a live performance of a song they did about how much they hate touring & live performing...

  • @AdiRudi Good comment, but I think it's all about putting words to music :)

  • the songwriter of this song genius

  • jag älskär frida

  • da best...

  • I like this version than most ones that I've heard.

  • @royko22 I don't even understand that last statement.

  • Super SUPER trouper!! Love it!!

  • These girls were very good. But they were the essence of the act. It was laughably boiled down by Jay Leno on NBC a few months ago when he said,

"I hear ABBA is not going to do a reunion tour because the guys in ABBA don't want to.

"I hadn't been aware that there were any guys in ABBA."

Good foreign pop group, one of a kind, but shouldn't be in rock 'n roll hall of fame.

  • @royko22 the greatest pop group ever. Period.

  • @royko22 ~You do realize they have over 400 million album/CD sales, of that 300 million in 10 years? Vocalists recognize their kind of vocal arrangement is much harder to sing well than it sounds...they ARE that good that they make it seem easy...they earned the Hall of Fame...

  • @royko22 Who the hell do you think wrote almost all of the music and lyrics, PeeWee Herman. And with more records of all times sold than any other act in history, and outselling the Beatles even now, well, that is why they were elected to the RnR Hall of Fame. Way more popular than the Beatles around the world. Abba Has music man, no the drivelling, soppy ballads of a bunch of illiterate guys.

And the funny thing is, only Agnetha could read and write music.

  • @royko22 I feel sorry for Abba, to be dumped in with a bunch crusty old rock bands who are crap anyway

As duas cantoras do grupo eram excelentes. A loira cantava muito, mas a morena também era talentosa! Que é isso?

  • 3:11 what a bass line cool sound!

  • Aww happy memories...luv ABBA!!!

  • cuantos cabellos alborotados me hubiera encantado vivir aquella epoca

  • ~.ç~.~..

  • one of ABBA's best songs i must say

  • love this song =D

  • That is so cool.

  • my friends and i are all into indie punk music. little do they know about my secret abba collection lol

  • abba só me traz grandes recordaçoes da minha juventude ...........

  • What it must feel like to perform a song that you have written, composed and engineered to the adoring public. I could only dream!

    Thanjs for this timeless memory.

  • when was this song made

  • Wonderful live performance.

  • bonita cancion y gratos recuerdos saludos desde mexico

  • bonita cancion y gratos recuerdos saludos desde mexico

  • Frida's voice is shocking here! I always loveg this song, but now I'm addicted to it!

  • Good song, great voices, but they don't seem really enthusiastic as they used to be...

  • Awesome!

  • I can understand why they wanted to call it quits. They look so burn out and tired.

  • Great vocals, but poor performance really - looks more like a rehearsal.

  • What voices...even when live!!!! Pure melodies more than anything else!!!

  • Warum haben die sich doch gleich Getrennt=? :(

  • Very very good.

  • The best songs came from Agnetha and Agnetha with Frida together!

  • Me loves it!

  • Although some of the songs from Dick Cavett are very sad to watch (especially Slipping Through My Finger and Knowing me Knowing You), I really think that it was possibly the best performance they ever did, especially vocally - the girls are simply amazing

  • i like this song very very much.

  • looks like they did'nt have a lot of fun on stage at this time

  • @attis88

look there singers and wanted to show there vocal talents not jump about the stage like lunatics

  • Ohh i love them they are all so cute ´nd this perfomace its amazing unbelieveable

  • Comment removed

  • Unbelievable live performance! ABBA Forever! :)

  • wow, what an angels voice!

  • Agnetha often said how she hated to be away from her children for any length of time. It would be very hard traveling for weeks on end, but that's how they also became so successful and famous

  • i think most of the time her children were with her. i think she hated the traveling and with kids etc.

  • This is the best live performance of ABBA and there are not so many live ones. Bless them!

  • I disagree with the criticism by some here, this was a great live performance! They didn't have smiles plastered on their faces like they did in the earlier days, but the strain of endless touring, promotion and marriage problems must have been tough, that's what this song is about! Also, this is in front of a small TV studio audience, not a dedicated ABBA concert, it's a totally different atmosphere.

  • it is sad cause by this point there personal problems really hit them. It got to the point where they was getting tired and fed up with each other sadley u can see it in this video that they didnt look happy.

  • i agree with the below comments. I absolutely love Abba and this song but it really is a very average and tired rendition by their standards. Cheers for the upload but i'm going back to the studio version-pure gold

  • A taster of how good their studio live performances could have been if they hadn't (like everyone else) lip-synched through the 1970's.

Pity that by the time these live shows came around, their off-stage problems had sucked the life-blood from their on-stage chemistry, play-acting and mild flirting.

    The girls harmonies are excellent.

Everything else looks like it wants to be elsewhere.

Even the backing band are looking for the exit.

    Shame.

  • I agree. They look tired and jaded. That the managed to keep going for another year was testament to their professionalism. And probably their pain threshold.

  • I´m gonna cry T.T ..........................

  • yo te mando una respuesta , te agradezco todos tus videos son de lo mejor de you tube son mis favoritos

  • Como eu queria ter pertencido a esta época...

Gosto muito de ABBA e demais músicas do gênero...!

  • Thanks for posting this video. This group knew the meaning of music!

  • Thanks to all for stopping by with your comments

    Shay//

  • i love abba! but their energy seems so uck.

  • que linda cancion y apenas yo nacia en el 81 todas sus canciones son hermosas

  • I agree, but still, they sound sooo amazing live! Agnetha once said she thinks ABBA was great to listen to, but not great to watch. She was so humble.

  • I watched some of their earlier performances on Youtube and watching their (Live Last Concert '81) you can tell that the spark was gone. Each song they sing has such a feeling of lasting emptiness. They show must go on was obviously not on their minds during the performances. So tragic, so sad. However thier music lives on. Just think of the joy they brought into so many lives. Agneth, I love you!

  • One of my fave songs when it came out

  • This is not the ABBA of old. They seem bored and tired. If I were at this concert, I would have been very disappointed. It's obvious that he end is near for ABBA.

This is one of the saddest videos I have ever watched.

  • but why are they so bored here?

  • I rather say they're so much tired

  • comme toujours génial

  • simply agnetha!

  • Frida, Frida, Frida, the best.

  • @pinheadq41

    she is the best x

  • Fy fan va Abba värkligen var och är bra!!

  • u suk ericelviss! i love abba! AND momma mia! any1 who reads this should go and c it!

  • shining like the sun!

  • She made mistake she said when YOU called from gelsgow , its was when i called YOU from glasgow

  • que hitaso mas copado!!! mierda!!!

  • What a great group. What a great song!

  • Go die u pointless asshole

  • olha, que lindinho e fofinho!

  • the 2nd best song from the greatest band in the world - EVER!

  • Haha! I'll bite.. what's their 1'st best song? AFAIK, Super Trouper is THE best song, by the second greatest group, ever.

  • idk what my fav Abba song is, i have a new fav one week to the next. i'll return the question, who's the greatest band then? (don't be obvious and say the Beatles!)

  • I was only kidding - definitely Abba for me. I like them more and more all the time - and I first heard them when the songs were released!

  • Go Bjorn! You rock!

  • is maith liom! go raibh maith agat,,,whats great about ABBA, you can have a different favorite song every day if you like,,,I agree this is my favorite version also

  • go raibh maith agat, a chairde,I agree!

  • One of my fave songs when it came out and I was 5 years old and still one of my fave songs today

  • Tesco had to shut down because ABBA shop at Asda I was sick and tired of everything

When I called you last night from Tesco

    he! he!

  • That reminds me, i must do some shopping, the fridge is empty

  • Whenever you feel down, just listen to an Abba song and you'll realise life is not that bad. The songs are just so pretty and make you feel good about life.

  • Not a bad philosophy to have , thanks

  • Mamma Mias version was better too me

  • Yeh...when it comes to singing, Meryl whips these two!

  • you're kidding me right? this is live, not pre-recorded like Meryl's.

  • Well said, Angel

I didnt reply because I thought they were kidding!

  • lol yeah, someone oughta smack these kids :p :p

  • Erm no!

  • I love Meryl Streep and she does a fine job in Mamma Mia but she can not possible give a performance like this.. Frida is really rare in this concert, her marriage is in pieces and it gives the song so much emotional depth. Meryl never tried to emulate Anna or Frida, she understood maybe because many of these songs a deeply personal.

  • No ABBA = no Mamma Mia. No studio pre-recorded = no Meryl Streep´s voice for sing. :) Keep things under perspective.

  • She showed them how to dance too!

  • I love ABBA and all their songs...I was born too late(1988), shit!!!

  • Same here, lol!

  • me tooo....too late :(

  • not me....i'm 45 and abba was and will always be the shit.....great songs with the best vocals ever by a duet (agnetha and frida) in a league of their own...too bad we couldn't jump back to 1977 for a while!!!

  • I'm pretty sure this is one of the shows my parents went to, they have seen quite a few. Very very nice, great song!

  • Wow that would have been special seeing their last concert

  • Exactly, I am jealous, would have loved to see one myself! I guess Swedes got the advantage.

  • A super "Super Trouper",Shay!!! I had never seen this clip before! Very good this live presentation! Really, it is necessary to give the proper value to the group of musicians who accompany them. They are excellent! And Frida´s vocals is marvelous here! Thanks for the lyrics and the post!

  • Some of my fav live vocals here too D, The band was right in sync with them on this show

  • great video and song thanks

  • Cheers A, glad you like it

  • Thanks, Shay -- wonderful. I've noticed, when they appeared live with this particular group of musicians/singers, they seemed to elevate their own performances, regardless of whatever personal issues were occurring. As fans, we may sometimes overlook the importance of those folks behind them...thankfully for us, ABBA didn't. :--)

Just further evidence for me of how great ABBA were.

  • Its a performance that brings me back time after time N,The backing group added nicely to the overall sound, without swamping it

And it was expertly recorded by Michael B Tretow

  • Excellent quality video here Shay! It shows how great Frida did with her great vocals in a live performance! Hadn't seen this particualr performance and it is really

g-r-e-a-t!! Thanks for posting this one Shay!

  • Glad to debut it for you Dallas, Its one I have played many times

  • thanks Shay, I love these videos that I've never seen before!

  • Glad to bring it to you for the 1st time

I remember been knocked out when I first seen it a couple of years ago

  • I can only agree with Sharon and the rest!

they all four was/still are wonderful musicians with fab voices (the girls esp.).

thanks for sharing this great clip Shay.

  • Four wonderful, unique, talents Elin

    We're not worthy..

  • I know time restraints and hectic touring schedules (when they did tour) forced them to decide to sing along with musical tracks on TV performances, along with their high musical standards in wanting their performances to sound as good as their records. But I think if they had a few more musicians with them on their TV appearances, they could have pulled it off without having to depend on music tracks. This proves it right here. One of their greatest live shows! Thanks, Shay!

  • Sure does Sharon! They never really got the credit for their live performances, But this is as good as it gets

  • Not that many artists sound better live without studio tweaking but Abba do/did

    Cheers for posting Shay

    Bill

  • Thanks Bill, there is an extra emotional punch here and when these two voices sing together, you get magic

  • The voices actually do sound better here. Imagine if all their albums had been live.

    Very nice Shay.

  • I would have loved to hear a full 'unplugged' acoustic set too Jim,thanks

  • Great video Shay for some reason the live performances always seemed to be much better listening then the recorded sessions.

    Jim

  • I agree Jim, probably the stripped down sound allowed more emotion to come through on the voices

The hq has not kicked in here yet, it should sound alot better when it does, Thanks
