Very nice job...its easy to follow and both new and advanced players can enjoy it, I've been playing for 7 years and I really enjoyed this, keep it up good sir!
i wish i could get lessons from you...im good at playing sheet music in concert band...but when it comes to doing a solo for jazz band whic requires improvosation. im horrible at it.
one thing I have to mention is what are the main note tones for a scale to to play aggenst chord changes...
first off you never! want to play the 4th in anything that is not minor. even then it is only a passing tone. Next you want to use 1 3 5 and some times 7. 2 6b and 6 are examples of passing tones. the 6b is needed to be seldom played, mostly in bebop. Never use 6b as a crutch. It will make your solo cheesy. Not to reprimand your teaching skills I wanted to let you know...
@missionimprovisation it doesnt even depent on the "right backing instruments..". i heard saxophone SOLOS without accompaniyng instuments and just a single note was worth a lot.. (just heard Wayne shorter some days ago. he would be an example..)
Well knowing all the scales will not make you a great improviser. In the improvisation, the biggest -and the hardest- part is to be creativ, accurate, soulful and playing with the entire band, not just thinking about "the best sax solo price" ! But this is a thing no one can teach, musician has it or has not !
