With the Rex-5, can you look through the lens while filming? I've just bought a H16 Reflex (1957), and I'm a bit worried about shooting without it being a actual SLR camera. I guess that's part of the fun! Haha.
it was really just a test reel but thanks. i guess its just a tribute to BW. the transfer cost a couple hundred for 200ft / 30 minutes of transfer time (w/ student discount) at Fotokem in LA. However, i do not recommend using fotokem. the colorists there are rather life-less and they're pretty expensive. if your in the LA area go to Cinelicious. those guys will do the same thing much cheaper and they're really down to earth. Seattle area...go to AlphaCine...people there are also great
Thanks very much. I'm in Melbourne, Australia, alas! But there's a place in Australia that does do the proper "frame by frame" telecine. I might use it one day, if I have a finished film edited together on actual filmstock, or something.
Nice exposure. What film stock did you use?

the rex-5 is pretty nice. yeah you'll have fun working with that h16 though. i mean thats what field reporters used before the slr came out.

What do you MEAN, you didn't really know what you were doing!? Haha! The exposure is and focus is very nice.
I really like the graininess, and it almost looks like it has a Pro Mist filter on it, with the nice diffusion of light. Very nice.
How did you do the transfer to digital? It's a nice transfer.

Really cool video - I like it much better than the official one! Shame it had to be a Honda Jazz reversing at the start though...
