@zXCFXz no you are paying for the pretty lights the actual quality and components are pretty shit go to overclockers . co . uk and pick a prebuilt gaming pc much better quality for a much better price
@juggalo6876 lol or maybe you just can't take care of it, my friend has had one and he's had one for like a few months now and not even a scratch! lol
when i connect my laptop to a monitor, the images dose not look as good as what is see on my laptop?...im not that tectie. so my question is will it never look as good on my laptop? or is there some setting i have to look in my laptop to make is look better. "THANKS"
@v3nomoso likely because the monitor you are connecting to has a different resolution to that of the laptop. when you plug it in is it showing the same desktop on both (as in basicly a mirror image of the desktop on both screens) or does the laptop remain with the desktop and the other screen just gets your background? in any case you need to change the resolution of the second screen to the native res of that monitor
@explodinglamas change the res on the monitor?...ok form the laptop i change that or the monitor? i dont see anything like changeing the res on the monitor? "im going to try, and thank you"
@v3nomoso on your laptop, right click anywhere on the desktop in open space, select "screen resolution", then select the second display, and chase the resolution there. you might also have to change it so that instead of "duplicate this display" it says "extend this display" or something like that.
@explodinglamas u know what, i found it!!! it did make it look better. not as good as what the laptop is showing me, but still good!!! im thinking of selling my ps3 cuz of my laptop. STEAM is really a good game provider!!! im loving it!!! im getting demos and comparing to what the ps3 has. thanks again fool. "helps alot!"
@killercraftXD i dont think so but i have never looked myself, the reflective screen is only a problem if youre outside, you stop noticing it after awhile. most of the stuff i do on mine is coding anyway so im looking at a white screen for the most part.
@ShadowIrOnIcz well it plays crysis 2 on low pretty good. the only real issue is the cpu. however the newest versions have I7's so that shouldnt be a problem
@ShadowIrOnIcz check the Alienware website because what you can get in your region will differ to mine. for Australia there are 3 versions, two with i5's and one with an i7. personally id say fork out the money and get the best one. the price difference (in Australia) is not enough to warrant anything less
@xdudeyourcool the only time i have issue with the small screen is when im doing work and i want to look at multiple things at once, i cant spread them out over the screen like i can on my desktop.
@yomomas2891 depends where you live, any electronics store that sells dell laptops should be able to help you. in australia ive seen them in JB HiFi and Office Works
@yomomas2891 personally i bought mine in a store, but i would suggest ordering online as there are many customisation options available, where as in a store, whats there is what you get
another Q is it possible to get a regular labtop like window's 7 or vista and change the Intel graphics into a NVIDIA graphics card plzz reply fast X-mas is like a week away?
@RLGgames graphics chips on laptops are integrated into the motherboard of the system, so unless you plan on replacing the whole board, and you know what you are doing very specificity, then no, its not an option. the only "interchangable" parts of a laptop in general terms are RAM, HDD, and depending on the make and model CPU
Should i get this. I dont have much money to spend, but my computer is butt poop. I do like playing games (which is kinda why im thinking about getting it). If i get just the computer, without any upgrades, just the standard edition, would it still play new/upcoming games on normal or low settings?
@RLGgames it meets the system requirements, but personally i havent played it on there so i cant tell you how it runs. though it should be perfectly fine
My current laptop that is just your standard, run of the mill machine that is not made for gaming runs it just fine so I'm sure the alienware will eat right through it.
@MrMasterpod personally for the games i had that did have disks, i made images of them on my desktop and transferred them over my home network. however this may not be possible for you or others for what ever reason. the easiest way is to purchase a USB dvd drive (prices range from $40-$120 AUD) or download digital distribution versions if possible.
I am seriously thinking about getting one. But i need some orientation, is this laptop only good games?, or it is good for working on it also, the thing is that is the only one with such good performance at 11", and i´m looking for a small laptop, for mobility, not a netbook.

@cheaplightning the head on the lid glows yes, and it is only white, this is because it is lit not by any dedicated lighting LED's but the screen itself. and due to how LCD's work this is always going to be white or very light grey.
is the screen so small that if you were playing mw2 or wow you would have to put your face really close to see everything. i dont know if this will give really bad disadvantes cause i want this for gaming
@IntenseGaming007 from what ive played on it i cant find fault with the screen size, yeah its small but it gets the job done. its all about your perception.
@MultiDeejai it can handle any game, the only problem is the graphic settings, crysis for example, wont run as smooth on the highest settings, but will run good on medium settings. so depending on how demanding the game u want to play, it should run pretty good.
thanks for the review! i have some questions and i really hope you could help me.
First, what do you think of Alienware's performance for simple tasks (not gaming) and how much time does it take to perform the everyday task (from the time you click to open until it's ready to be used)? And what about the start-up time
Second, does the non-removable battery make a big issue?
And last, does the glossy screen and case attract the dust and finger prints so much?
@penisipinguin its performance for simple tasks is great as far as i can see, however i have noticed start up times are rather slow in comparison to other machines, but it recovers from standby (closing the top) in about 5 seconds so i dont have a problem.
as for the battery, ive got no problems with it, it lasts long enough that i wouldnt need a spare anyway, the screen can be too glossy at times but the brightness counters it. the case does get marked but traveling in a bag wipes them off.
@penisipinguin well when set to integrated graphics, the machine lasts up to 8 hours, when using dedicated you get about 2-3 depending on what youre doing. in terms of making it last longer, you cant really extend it, but you can maintain it. be sure to keep it off the power for as long as possible, hell run it until it dies as much as you can, it keeps the battery working and makes it more receptive to charge.
@andi1701 when youre just running integrated graphics, and its on a flat surface (a table or a book or something) the fan rarely turns on, if youve got it in your lap, as long as the vent isnt blocked it will turn on occasionally, and its not loud at all. when dedicated graphics are running though the fan is on constantly
@pimpboy9009 there are several areas that can be coloured individually, as can be seen i have mine in an all red style but the keyboard, front panels, logo, alien head and status indicators (caps lock, wireless etc) can all be set individually to any colour. there are also settings for pulsing lights and changes between colours.
this is probably a bad time to ask but does it have volume buttons like the m17x. its a bad time to ask because its coming on the 15 th.please awser so i can pre face palm before than.
@wayhey90 actually, a solid state drive only improves loading. It will make loading maps faster, but as for framerates, they will stay the same. What you need is ram, which will improve framerates signifcantly
2. Minimal difference, if at all. My high-end gaming desktop doesn't even have 8gb. (It has 6gb, even that is more than you'll need)
BTW the Pentium Dual Core is almost exactly the same as the Core 2 Duo, just with a bit less cache. It, like the Core 2 Duo, can be overclocked. Performance difference is minimal
what reason would i have to go for 8gb of ram vs. 4gb of ram. why would i ever need more than 4gb of ram. please help me out. cuz you sound like you know your stuff
just want to clarify some things, yes, SU7300 is not the best option and on paper, it is rather a low end processor, but that said, some CPU intensive games like L4D2, Football Manager 2010 which eats up Processor and RAM with it's huge database, still runs very nicely on a OCed SU7300
and you might be surprised that it's not a big difference with the lowest i3 core, although on paper, i3 beat the hell out of SU7300
There is no celeron or singlecore as far as I know.
Intel® Pentium® Dual Core ULV SU4100 is the cheapest, but it is still allmost as good as the Su7300. You might notice a bit difference in benshmarking, but not in normal gaming or usage. They are both 1.3 and both overclockable :-)
Should I buy this?

just want to clarify some things, yes, SU7300 is not the best option and on paper, it is rather a low end processor, but that said, some CPU intensive games like L4D2, Football Manager 2010 which eats up Processor and RAM with it's huge database, still runs very nicely on a OCed SU7300
and you might be surprised that it's not a big difference with the lowest i3 core, although on paper, i3 beat the hell out of SU7300
