  • It's the first time I install Winamp since version 5.1x and it crashed upon start.

Probably because my winamp.ini was never edited or removed because I've been using it since early 2.7 series (2.78 was my favorite version).

Never uninstalled, never removed, kept it safe in a second partition so all my skins, plugins and etc are still there since the first version I ever installed.

Even though I use MPC:HC most of the time I'll never move my music folder from my "D:\Program\Winamp\Music\"

    NEVER!

  • WinAMP, WinAMP!

It really whips the Llama's ass

  • I never see ANY ads in my Winamp and I don't have the Pro version. Maybe it's because I have all music in a playlist and it just fills most of the player in that window? Anyways, it works the best for me, has for years and I personally won't change unless they stop releasing updates.

  • I really enjoy these videos, is there any chance of doing a brief history of Windows Media Player, or DOS?

  • I wish they's make a MacAmp.

  • haha i used Winamp way back in summer of 97 when i was in my first year of uni so yeah im old:)

  • i really enjoyed the video, and then i realize you also did the chain of fools video! congrats man keep it up. ive been an avid winamp supporter for over 10 years and i was looking forward to someone eventually making a video like this.

  • I still use it. Fuck itunes

  • Winamp Classic UI (L)

  • Cool video brah

  • This brings back memories :)

  • @TheRasteri Are you only going to do these type of videos only for Windows-related things, or also other (sub-)OSs? I find your videos very entertaining and informative, and wouldn't mind seeing more stuff if doing only Windows-related stuff is holding you back a bit.

  • @Paraboxify I'd certainly be open to the idea of doing things with other OSs. I don't know much about Mac OS so I'm probably the wrong person for that, but Linux is something I'm very familiar with. I did consider installing a bunch of older Linux versions but I didn't think it'd be very interesting.

  • I've used every version of Winamp on and off since version 2.0 and I'll say you hit the nail on the head for pretty much every user response to each version and the changes they carried.

  • Was my favourite media player for a long time.

  • AIMP3 is the best alternative to the original winamp.

  • LOLwinamp, everyone with a brain should use foobar

  • Maybe I just don't notice when the software I'm using is obscure, but are people really using VLC as an audio player over the likes of XMPlay and Xion? VLC's interface really isn't designed with being an audio player in mind. Personally I stopped using Winamp after version 3, I want my audio player to do just that, play audio files. I don't need it to handle video files or have a 'media library' (I hate those kinds of things, that's what folder hierarchies are for).

  • I still use 2.95.

  • really enjoy your videos mate, please keep up the good work!! i always hope ya have a new video releasing soon!!

  • Why use winamp if installing K-Lite codec pack can play every single file format out there in just WMP?

  • WinAmp 3.0 4 lief.

  • Ah, Winamp, I remember it well from my Windows XP days.

  • That was a very interesting video. Frankly, I only use WinAmp for its encoding abilities.

  • Sorry for the re-upload, youtube is being screwy for me tonight. I spent longer fiddling with codecs than I did cutting the video together...

  • Reupload?
