Strip-search machines take a very long time compared to magnetometers. Even Italy stopped using the strip search machines because of privacy issues and how slow they are. @Asteriks Behavioural profiling, which is done Israeli's TSA equivalent ISA, it not criminal in the US. Racial Profiling is criminal, it is also ineffective as a general rule. Once a terrorist group knows you are looking for 16-35 year old Arab males, they can send anything but that can have no problem. Behavioural profiling is very effective, it is also difficult. ISA is heavily trained and you go through several more ISA officers then TSA officers.
Really it comes down to money in the US, as always. TSA earn $20-35K per year, and requires a HS degree and no criminal record. The training is minimal. ISA on the other hand has former military people who have been trained to spot all kinds of small tell that might indicate someone is a security risk. To get that in the US you would need to at least double or triple the salary paid to the TSA officers to bring in the people with the skills needed to get the job done right.
People may say, but those "full body scanners are costly too" and they are right, they cost ~$150K per unit, but that is the per year cost difference between a really good security and a TSA is $25K per you, it is far cheaper to have the full body scanners then one good officer. Good security are costly, far more so then technology in the US.

Behavior-discernment is different, but it will not work in USA because it requires intelligence and we are brainwashed against admitting if we see suspicious behavior in the "wrong" ethnic type.

TSA is a federal government bureaucracy, not a "business".
Airlines' rules and policies were usurped by the federal government. Airlines were sued by the wartime Muslim enemy, C.A.I.R., with government leaders advocating for them, because airlines had changed their policy after 9/11 to look for the next pack of young Muslim men trying to hijack more of their airplanes.

@Asteriks Behavioural profiling, which is done Israeli's TSA equivalent ISA, it not criminal in the US. Racial Profiling is criminal, it is also ineffective as a general rule. Once a terrorist group knows you are looking for 16-35 year old Arab males, they can send anything but that can have no problem. Behavioural profiling is very effective, it is also difficult. ISA is heavily trained and you go through several more ISA officers then TSA officers.

Really it comes down to money in the US, as always. TSA earn $20-35K per year, and requires a HS degree and no criminal record. The training is minimal. ISA on the other hand has former military people who have been trained to spot all kinds of small tell that might indicate someone is a security risk. To get that in the US you would need to at least double or triple the salary paid to the TSA officers to bring in the people with the skills needed to get the job done right.

People may say, but those "full body scanners are costly too" and they are right, they cost ~$150K per unit, but that is the per year cost difference between a really good security and a TSA is $25K per you, it is far cheaper to have the full body scanners then one good officer. Good security are costly, far more so then technology in the US.

@Asteriks looking at behavior is not "profiling". "profiling" is looking at race, ehtnicity, etc and that is why it is wrong. Behavior-discernment is different, but it will not work in USA because it requires intelligence and we are brainwashed against admitting if we see suspicious behavior in the "wrong" ethnic type.
