Ok so you are using the tokina 11-16mm? I am using the stock t3i lens which is 18-55mm f/3.5 and the other night I was not getting a good enough exposure at iso 100 f/3.5 and a 30 second shutter. I had to go into bulb longer than 30 seconds to get the shot I wanted. Do you have trouble with underexposure on the 2.8 or should I go into the f/1 range?

Hey. Just read about youre problem. Im no expert my self but I think it might have something to do with the earths rotation. You can google Polar alignment
ive bought over $5000 in canon L gear in the last 8 months and i cant get night shots like this.. when i do long exposures the whoile sky gets blown out.... maybe i need to go farther out of the city
Truly amazing video! I was completely blown away by the stuff from around 00:38!
How did u do that? What camera settings did you use to get such awsome imagequality on that sky and the stars?!
And btw! I found your video when i was searching for reviews on Tokina 11 - 16. I guess thats the lens you are using. What do u have to say about this lens? Worth the penny? :)

I have to ask:
How do you do a moving time-lapse like this?
Was this done in editing or was it actually shot while moving?

@SeanFilms: The panning is done in realtime, with a star pan/tilt tracking device from Maede.

Yes, ligth pollution is a big issue. Get as far away from artificial lights as possible. For the best starscapes also try to shoot at new moon.

Thansk. I'm very happy with the 11-16. The milky way lapse at 00:38 was shot with 90s exposures at ISO800 f2.8 11mm.
