If you go to an all white community say in places like western pennsylvania or places like iowa or Kansas. Then, it's the culture thing. China is the contry which has almost 95%yellow skin Chinese( rest of them are minority ethnics). 15 years ago, peole there barely saw foreigners. If you look up the story yourself and read what really happened, you will find the real reason why the Chinese public reacted the way they did. Lou Jing's mother was married to a Chinese man when she an extramarital affair with Lou Jing's father, which resulted in the pregnancy. That's what infuriated the Chinese public, not so much her skin colour. Lou Jing said herself she didn't have much problems growing up.

As a Black-American I really appreciate this video. There are plenty of youtube vid. showing Blk ppl having the time of their lives in China. I even watched some vids of Blk expatriates living in S.Korea. The Chinese seem to be more curious than anything else to me. There are NO reports of her or the thousands of Africans in China being chased home from school, called Nigger, or protests in the streets telling them to "Go Home". well, there's an easy way to see for yourself, go round and ask the black ppl how they are treated by the chinese!!!!!as a chinese, my first friend and best friend in the UK after over 10 years is black who from nigeria. i invited him and his mom to China in 2006, and covered nearly all expences exept the airplane tikets.

I'm a Chinese girl.
First of all, we can't believe hundred percent what the media told us. It's hard to say which perspective is right, which is wrong.
Then, it's the culture thing. China is the contry which has almost 95%yellow skin Chinese( rest of them are minority ethnics). 15 years ago, peole there barely saw foreigners. Curiosity makes people dig more about the girl, they want to know the story. It's not like the mixed culture in the US, in contrary, Chinese people do not get used to it.

I think that CNN report was just trying to make the Chinese people look racist. If you look up the story yourself and read what really happened, you will find the real reason why the Chinese public reacted the way they did. Lou Jing's mother was married to a Chinese man when she an extramarital affair with Lou Jing's father, which resulted in the pregnancy. That's what infuriated the Chinese public, not so much her skin colour. Lou Jing said herself she didn't have much problems growing up.

There's a Chinese/Black mixed guy in the Chinese national volleyball team who may compete in the 2012 Olympics. There wasn't a racist backlash from the Chinese public about him or his ethnicity. my point is it's not a very valid "backlash" because it has nothing to do with that girls skill and or anything else that is happening in the "now"
So if they're going to base something on that than it's not going to be seen mutually by other people. And racism is going to be taken into account as well- because I'm sure it exists.

I agree. Such sensationalist stories sell esp in countries such as America...if racism was so rampant and bad in China, Lou Jing wouldn't have participated in the show. She herself said that it was only after she went online & read nasty comments by certain netizens did she feel like she shouldn't have participated. Her family, friends, and teachers @ school were supportive throughout.

...heritage to a white patriarch, why don't we stress their white roots? We don't because they look black and so does Obama. In this country, all that matters is your skin tone not your ancestry. This passive aggressive, "he is half white, half black" thing is just another tactic to some how water down his cultural significance to blacks. The irony is that, historically, whites have always rejected or looked down on white/black people and in turn these people have associated themselves as black.

with all due respect, you don't experience racism that often because you are white. Being Indian, I have experienced my fair share. I and most minorities obviously see things differently from you. If i remember right, LOu Jing's mother isn't poor or uneducated for that matter. It's apparent if you look at their apartment. You need to be middle class in Shanghai to have that kind of an apartment. I would think you'd be smart enough to not stereotype all women who date foreign men as "poor, uneducated and desperate".

No offense, but u exactly sounded like a white who told me that I exaggerated about in racism after I was told by some white dudes "Nip" and "go back to your fucking country". I thought America was my home. Like he said, it's all media or government fault and we all have to refuse to listen to them. The truth is the whites get better treatments than any other race in america, especially in Asia (oh trust me on this). I work in entertaiment buiness n if ur white and blonde, ur ahead of game.

@ cal31BRIAN23- w/ 75% of Blk children being raised in single-parent homes, it's no wonder that Asian culture which strongly value the presence of a FATHER being in the home, would look at the Blk community, esp. Blk males & BE VERY CONCERNED. BTW, women from all races are attracted to white males. Not just Asian females. I'm a Blk woman & find white men to be very atttractive as well. Men who have strong family values & believe in hard-work will be HIGHLY PRIZED in the eyes of ANY woman.

sure, that could be a reason for some women to date white men but since when did white men become solely synonymous with wealth? In today's day and age, an African American man and an Asian American man can and is often more successful than many white men. As an educated Asian woman myself, i wouldn't date or marry a man for his wealth. Instead, i'd judge a man by his character and the chemistry.

As a Black-American I really appreciate this video. There are plenty of youtube vid. showing Blk ppl having the time of their lives in China. I even watched some vids of Blk expatriates living in S.Korea. The Chinese seem to be more curious than anything else to me. There are NO reports of her or the thousands of Africans in China being chased home from school, called Nigger, or protests in the streets telling them to "Go Home". To me, this says ALOT about the Chinese.

Tell you the truth i am Black, Jamaican from Nyc . And most Asian girls over here all i have seen so far worship white men! I dated one Asian girl(her mom didn't like that, but yet she was married to a white man) and its fucking rare to Asian and blacks together. Almost everyday i go into the city, i see white men/ Asian girl couple. To me they worship white people, even in anime WHY DO ALL THE CHARACTERS LOOK WHITE? blue eyes, green eyes etc. And what about that half black/half asian singer?>

I truly think its because most Black men seem to be really really irresponsible when it comes to help raising the child whom he created. Black men likes to screw woman, but when they accidently make a baby, they'll run away completely. I tried not to think this way but its hard when I always see the same result. Not to say all Black men are this way, because I know a very few who are my friend and they seem descent. But I have to say there is alooot of these kind who fucks then leave. Its sad.
