As a neutral observer, i watched both films, this one, the acting and graphics were good. Sad that they did not continue with the same actor. Its like making new Iron man movies and changing the actor every time. Hope you understand.

I think this movie was ahead of its time really. Spider-Man had just come out, and the popular image of Hulk came from the Billy Bixby/Lou Ferrigno television series (which INCREDIBLE HULK clearly strived to be like) and thus everyone for both reasons was expecting a more lighthearted and straightforward action film. (Plus the way the studio put this trailer together was very misleading) This was very true the comics, particularly to the themes presented in Peter David's run. I like both films.

How can you have a way too big hulk? Seriously listen to yourselves, look up the DEFINITION of the word hulk. I believe when making a comic book movie its best to keep fan boy's opinions secondary, because nothing will ever please them, but if you deviate too far you just end up with a bad movie. I think this movie had a perfect balance, the acting was good, I liked the transformations better because Bana was more in character.
Marvel studios really dropped the ball, they should have kept the original cast and ditched the director and writer and used the storyline from the second film.

@oreoman47 CGI is the new technology for creating computer generated characters that are animated through a program . for example take Gollum from Lord Of The rings . it depends of the animation studios on how realistic would that CGI Character would look like . And the 2003 hulk along with the 2008 version , the Hulk monster is all cgi but the 2008 hulk was very badly made because the cgi was not composed very well . The cgi work on the 2003 hulk is AMAZING .

I think, Hulk's strength must be recognizable, and that is managed in the 2003 movie. The body proportions are perfect, the movements are smooth and realistic, and the size is correct. The 2008 Hulk is thin and smaller. He can throw a forklift, but has trouble, to lift a jeep or smash a car in two parts. O.K., something could be changed on the skin color and the pants, but otherwise, the 2003 Hulk is much better than the other.
The first one was good for explaining Hulk's origins, but left a little to be desired in terms of special effects and action. The reboot/sequel/who the hell cares is good for action and a sense of continuity from Iron Man. Let us leave it at that.
i have to say i go both ways grpahics in this one weren't to bad but the action scenes were gr8 it had a good story line about him and his father ,the scene in the 2008 version were cool graphics of the hulk was awsome and it was nice to see him fighting the abonimination. my favourite scenes from both movies 2003 hulk breaks out of the base and army attaacks and 2008 culver uni battles where bruce gets chased and changes into hulk and battles the army and the final fight where he speaks

the only problem with this (2003) version is that hulk is WAY TOO TALL. hulk is sopposed to be like, 8-9ft, in this one they made him 18-20ft tall, run at like, 130 mph, and jump 5 miles high...

Other than that, I think it was great. Yeah, the story is a little off from how it actually happened in the comics, but so what? In X Men 3, they made Juggernaut a mutant. That screwed a very significant character.

@saintsfan0913 as much as I love the Dark Knight (5th favorite movie ever 2nd favorite comic book movie) The incredible Hulk (2008) was fun to watch. No over acting but that doesn't mean the acting was bad, it was forced fictional like how Betty looked like a strikingly beautiful smart assistant scientist but came out annoyingly ditsy but likable. Plus Banner was supposed to be nerdishly built and soft spoken like in the comics unlike batman whose alter ego is super athletic.
@Thepizzaman456 Bale's batman was the best, it showed Bruce Wayne's evolution to becoming the Dark Knight. Not only that, unlike the previous batmans (Keaton, Val, Clooney) there were actually important elements from the comics that were not present in the previous Batman films until Bale took part which are unpredictability and using his bat and darkness symbols psychologically in battles, meaning he wasn't only all batarangs, smoke pallets , wushu style fighting James Bond in a Batman Costume.

I seriously hate the new hulk. It's weak compared to this Hulk. This one's bigger and way more powerful. Moves more realistically too. Ang Lee's hulk went unappreciated and extremely underrated. One of the main reasons why it didn't do so well it because Matrix Reloaded came out the same time as this did. The only issue I saw for this film was the pacing issue and that it went off the original story. Although it didn't follow the comic book, the acting and story was deeper than the 2008 version.

I think, Hulk's strength must be recognizable, and that is managed in the 2003 movie. The body proportions are perfect, the movements are smooth and realistic, and the size is correct. The 2008 Hulk is thin and smaller. He can throw a forklift, but has trouble, to lift a jeep or smash a car in two parts. O.K., something could be changed on the skin color and the pants, but otherwise, the 2003 Hulk is much better than the other.

The first one was good for explaining Hulk's origins, but left a little to be desired in terms of special effects and action. The reboot/sequel/who the hell cares is good for action and a sense of continuity from Iron Man. Let us leave it at that.

i have to say i go both ways grpahics in this one weren't to bad but the action scenes were gr8 it had a good story line about him and his father ,the scene in the 2008 version were cool graphics of the hulk was awsome and it was nice to see him fighting the abonimination. my favourite scenes from both movies 2003 hulk breaks out of the base and army attaacks and 2008 culver uni battles where bruce gets chased and changes into hulk and battles the army and the final fight where he speaks

I never understood why so many people hated this movie. Maybe it was the expectations. Great acting, great directing, and an almost gritty version of the story. I hear they're doing a Luke Cage movie and I gotta say I hope it's the same way. Did you know Nic Cage got his last name from the Luke Cage character? So boss! the only problem with this (2003) version is that hulk is WAY TOO TALL. hulk is sopposed to be like, 8-9ft, in this one they made him 18-20ft tall, run at like, 130 mph, and jump 5 miles high...

@jsx6x I tottaly agree. The hulk way to tall the the 2003 movie.It's suppose to be "the Madder Hulk gets, THE STRONGER HULK GETS!" not "The Madder Hulk gets, THE BIGGER HULK GETS!"They did get the jumping right though. In the comics the Hulk can go a distance of three miles with a single jump.

Just watched this again, and I feel empty inside 'cause of how under-rated this movie was. It had everything.
Ang Lee did more with this Hulk in a Dog-fight, than the 2008 Hulk pulled off with a baddie like the Abomination (Overhyped fight with no payoff). Just goes to show that "Hulk Smash" does not a good film make.
An origin story is meant to be slower anyway. Can't believe they moved from this work of art to the dumbed down 2008 version

I only had two problems with this movie.
1. The acting
2. He was too big
Other than that, I think it was great. Yeah, the story is a little off from how it actually happened in the comics, but so what? In X Men 3, they made Juggernaut a mutant. That screwed a very significant character.

@saintsfan0913 as much as I love the Dark Knight (5th favorite movie ever 2nd favorite comic book movie) The incredible Hulk (2008) was fun to watch. No over acting but that doesn't mean the acting was bad, it was forced fictional like how Betty looked like a strikingly beautiful smart assistant scientist but came out annoyingly ditsy but likable. Plus Banner was supposed to be nerdishly built and soft spoken like in the comics unlike batman whose alter ego is super athletic.

@Thepizzaman456 Bale's batman was the best, it showed Bruce Wayne's evolution to becoming the Dark Knight. Not only that, unlike the previous batmans (Keaton, Val, Clooney) there were actually important elements from the comics that were not present in the previous Batman films until Bale took part which are unpredictability and using his bat and darkness symbols psychologically in battles, meaning he wasn't only all batarangs, smoke pallets , wushu style fighting James Bond in a Batman Costume.

Hulk 1 is superior in visual FX, behavior of the hulk, acting of all the cast, plot is complex and intelligent, and its believable. Incredible Hulk is a dumb down version with fake anatomy .....have you ever seen a powerful bald chimps muscles?Muscles do not look ripped like the Incredible Hulk....its incredibly fake . I seriously hate the new hulk. It's weak compared to this Hulk. This one's bigger and way more powerful. Moves more realistically too. Ang Lee's hulk went unappreciated and extremely underrated. One of the main reasons why it didn't do so well it because Matrix Reloaded came out the same time as this did. The only issue I saw for this film was the pacing issue and that it went off the original story. Although it didn't follow the comic book, the acting and story was deeper than the 2008 version.
