that is a fun ride thru there you have to watch the road very good. And the road down to San Jose is a better road than coming thru patterson all and all it's a good days ride.
hihi! i live down in san jose and love this trip up the mountain sooooo much! it breaks me sometimes from stress in the valley. i really like it that you did this - do more! what about the other side? mount uminum? i never knew how to spell that right hehe :P thats a fun one up hicks? i think? keep jammin! i love your song choice too! :) apop rules! hugs
Thanks for the positive response! I need to get back up there with the camera and test some new angles / style. I generally go up Mt. Ham / out Del Puerto to Patterson then back to Mines - I was out of tape and battery WAY before I could catch all that. I'll get more up when I can!
Does this road go all the way through Milpitas to San Jose? I'm not sure if I was on this road last night. I got there by accident. I don't regret it though. It was awesome! I was trying to find my way back from Oakland. I was waiting at Best Buy in Gilroy, but I got bored and took off. Missed my ticket! Oops! At the very top I saw a great view of the city at night! It was like 3:00 in the morning! Someone please verify where this is! I have a picture here.
Yep, it's a technical ride. That day was FULL of bicyclists - more than I think I've ever seen up there. I prefer the Del Puerto section - little traffic and 20+ miles of nice sweeping fun! =)
I don't see what everyone likes about Del Puerto. Mines road is obviously superior. Del Puerto always has hidden gravel in the turns and is less challenging than Mines road. Mt. Hamilton is way bumpier and has more gravel than Del Puerto, and it is still more fun!
Del Puerto is not as technical true...but it has less traffic and therefore less enforcement. Hamilton / 130 / lunch at the Junction (or in Patterson) / Del Puerto / Mines is a good day of riding. =)
Yeah, I have to agree. After posting about this video, I did a fast Mines/Jct/Del Puerto loop. Mines was a blast, but the deteriorating pavement on Del Puerto makes it difficult to go fast on that road. Gravel, chuck holes, and missing edges make me a bit nervous whenever I ride it.
nasty road! going down hill aint fun! hehe did you guys end up at 1-5?
