Regarding my experiences with mods, this mod is awesome!!!. I've just finished to do it with my cutter ( i don't have a dreamel) and i feel the difference right away. I've done a few classic mods to my zhanchi but this mod change the feel of it. As personal preference, i love it. Many thanks for sharing this. FYI: i use lubix as lube for my cubes and i lube them following their recommendations.
@HippoTrooper Yes but's like that for almost every mod, because everything searches the way of weakest resistance. But doing it manually makes the process alot quicker.
I really don't see any reason to mod a zhan chi it's really perfection in my eyes for 3x3s these 48 point egde mods and this mod is to reduce clicking which I think was put there intentually to help reduce overturning I mean it's ok to do if you have super control over your cube but a lot of cubers are rough cubers and really should have that clicking there to help in most cases not having that there can actually in cress your times because of haveing to adjust for over turning
@ThisIsGOKKAR You can mod your lubix if you want to. If the CPM didn't change performance I wouldn't be doing the mod. I tried several mods and most of them had no effect
I did the Center-Stem mod on my test GuHong to a few months back and can only agree with what you said regarding it. And nice that you actually share what you do to the cubes you sell - unlike others. Nice for price transparency and people actually get to see what they can expect. I like this a lot!
@asianboy2060 as far as I know Lubix only does the 48 point edge mod on the Zhanchi (correct me if I'm wrong). I've already tried that mod by itself and I didn't notice any change. The one problem that I found was the corner bases rubbing against the center stem. So modding the stem is quicker.
Question - do you think maybe they leave those little edges on, on purpose, to aid in making more precise, or "complete" turns, as opposed to possible over-turning with a really smooth stem, like you've made it? I'm sure you would get used to either way if you practiced on either cube, but I'm wondering if that was the reason they changed it from the lingyun (lunhui?).
@Roobitz I'm not sure actually... but the Lunhui is the only Dayan made with round stems. I don't think the octagon has a mechanical purpose other than it was simply molded that way.
@Zwhite10 It doesn't feel any different before or after the CPM. Over the course of 2 weeks I tested out various mods and most of them had no effect. The only one where I found some change was the centers. I also do this to the Godly Guhong.
@Stewarteunice with a higher grit youll get better results

can i use sand paper ??
kevinchungwujosue 2 months ago
@kevinchungwujosue Yes. Sandpaper is great for modding; I prefer 35 grit.
Also, I did this mod, but now my cube doesn't cut corners very well, locks up, and it is VERY loose; Did I do something wrong?

Is there any reason to mod a Lubix Ultimate Zhanchi? Also, do your Zhanchi mods improve the performance, or just the feel of the cube?

I like showing people how to mod so if they decide to do it themselves they can save money. I also show people to encourage buying.

I see the difference but you should compare to a lubix zhan chi

drumgod1997 6 months ago
@drumgod1997 Dayan's 2-5 3x3's all have that problem. I could probably take care of the excess plastic for free. hmmm...
