@Entropy56 Entropy is a property of a thermodynamically closed system that expresses the difference between the total amount of energy in the system and the amount of energy available to perform work. Since neither the genome or the human body is a closed system, there is no "genetic entropy". Sanford based his delusion on Shannon Entropy, a misnamed description of errors caused by data compression of computer programs. Since DNA is not compressed data, it is still false.
@DClayTorosco I found this study: "Mutational robustness of ribosomal protein genes" by Lind, Berg, and Andersson. Have you read it? I am no scientist, so this stuff is way over my head. Do you this study doesn't apply to the human body or anything else on earth?
@Entropy56 The essential conclusion was;"The obtained DFE appears to be unimodal, where most mutations (120 out of 126) are weakly deleterious and the remaining ones are potentially neutral. The DFEs for synonymous and nonsynonymous substitutions are similar, suggesting that in some genes, strong fitness constraints are PRESENT at the level of the messenger RNA." This disproves Sanford's claim altogether: he argues that these mutations accumulate, thus destroying the genome integrity. Well done!
@DClayTorosco So even though 95 percent of the mutations were harmful, the result was that fitness in SOME genes leads to the conclusion that there are NO harmful accumulations of ANY mutations? Did John Sanford say that ALL 95 percent of those mutations are passed on to their offspring?
@Entropy56 What part of " strong fitness constraints are PRESENT at the level of the messenger RNA." do you not understand? " Most mutations (120 out of 126) are WEAKLY deleterious". The mRNA prevents the accumulation of truly harmful mutations while ignoring those that have little or no impact.According to Sanford this is not possible---he ignores the role of RNA in producing DNA.
The more subtle and far more important point that most people seem to ignore is: If live gradually got more complex through descent with modification (an assumption) then HOW did this occur at the genetic level (assuming basic genetic expression is already in place)? Think about that in light of Sanford's hypothesis about entropy. Even if UCA is true, that still leaves mutation/selection wanting as the primary mechanism.
@odinata Man can engineer molecules! It shows how it takes INTELLIGENCE in controlled laboratory conditions to mimic, manipulate, plagiarize a cell's Design! Scientists COPY genetic sequences!! They dont create anything!!
Its all Man made Synthetic chemistry! and it has nothing to do with the origin of life!! Homochirality is a disaster for any sort of naturalistic origins! There is no demonstrated source for such non-racemic mixture of sugars in any plausible pre-biotic environment!
I love his conclusion for the problem of genetic entropy and the entropy in the 2nd law of thermodynamics (everything is in the process of breaking down or dying). The only hope we have for all of this death is Christ. This is an undeniable truth that everyone needs to realize. It also doesn't even begin to address the spiritual side of us slowly dying. We are spiritual beings inside physical bodies. Bodies that will one day die and spirits that, through sin, are going to eternal damnation.
Too bad there is no such thing as genetic entropy. The genome is not a closed system, nor is the human body. Sanford lies.

@DClayTorosco I'm interested how you know that there is no such thing as genetic entropy.

@DClayTorosco So there is no accumulation of harmful genes? How so? I thought Sanford said this is a fact which is tested.

DFE= Distribution of Fitness Effects, defined as localization of harmful or deleterious effects of mutations.

Religious opinions make for NO scientific facts.
Sanford is a laughing stock.
