@TheNoseyGekko Because the land is in strategic areas usually overlooking legal Israeli settlements, and when they give this high-lying land back, terrorists use it to rain rockets down on said legal settlements. Right, a couple of problems: First off, the '47 borders were a huge problem - many Jews lived in Jerusalem, and the Arabs living in Palestine (they didn't identify as Palestinians at that point) blocked the road to Jerusalem and were trying to starve the Jews out. It would be excellent if we could guarantee that wouldn't happen again, but we can't. Also, some of Israel's political prisoners are TERRORISTS serving multiple life sentences. I want a 2 state solution, but not your way, sorry.

The 1949 map leaves Israel DEFENSELESS. There is thin strip of land in the middle ( around 9 miles) and enemy would split the country in half by gaining control of that small area, leaving Israel in super weak position . I agree with the two state solution but the 1949 border are based on Israeli/ arab population demographics which no longer hold today.
I wish your solution was possible. I'm Israeli and I'm really ashamed of the settlements. It's a shame. Also, you say 49' borders, but the discussion currently is about the 67' borders. There is no way Israel will go back to the 67' borders - that's like America giving back New Mexico..

The Jewish people have been targets of racism for thousands of years. blood libels, pogroms, inquisitions and even a holocaust was waged against them. I think the majority of Israeli's would be willing to give up 9/10s of the land if they truly believed that would bring peace. But every single peace agreement falls through, partially bc the palestinians have this mantra- "not one inch to the jews". But if you look at Jerusalem- the holiest city to the jews only 1/4 is jewish, and their holiest site (not the western wall btw) the temple mount, is kept off limits for any Jew. Only muslims can go there. Can you imagine that happening in Mecca?
it's easier said then done. you can't negociate or even get to an agreement with a side that doesn't want parts, they want it all. they don't want Israel to exist... so there goes your theory of having both, because the palestinians will refuse to have both, hence why we're still in the same place 5 years later.
As a Palestinian-Canadian teenager (who is often mistakenly called Pakistani - I laughed at that) I think that a lot of the bias embedded in both sides is due to the past generations telling horror stories to today's youth. A solution can only be reached as the barriers of bias are removed and both sides begin to relate to each other. Both Palestinians and Israelis have some beautiful traditions and history, and some events that they may regret in hindsight. It's up to the youth to connect now.

I feel that this whole Palestine vs. Israel is deeply rooted in antisemitism. For example, I have yet to hear of one country recognizing the annexation of Golan Heights and West Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip and the West Bank are considered "occupied territories" as opposed to Israeli territories. If any other country had done this, the change in ownership would have been recognized.The world is just using Palestine as excuse to continue in their hatred of Jews.

Palestine was a scrubby wasteland that the Palestinians SOLD to the Israelis in pieces over many years. The Israelis worked their asses off and turned much of it into a garden state... so now the Palestinians (who even their brother Arabs didn't want) are screaming to have their "homeland" back. Israel has fought I believe six wars, and only one of those was started by Israel after proof that Egypt was going to attack. Israel cannot afford to go back to the 1948 borders because the Arab countries' opinions of Israel has not changed. They would not hesitate to attack again if Israel was reduced back to indefensible borders like the 1948 ones. I agree that a deal is the only way for lasting peace, but it is not an agreement that reduces Israel to being unable to protect itself.

I live in Israel (very close to the gaza strip) and I agree that there should be two countries... This video was made more than two years ago, and not much has changed. we had some quite times, but it's only temporary. We have some period that we have to stay close to the shelters. A terrorist organisation is specifically an organisation that has designs to literally scare a population or civilisation into submission. Also as Israel is a geographical location by itself and not a group it cannot be classified as a terrorist organisation.

John, you forgot that Jordan was created immediately before Britain started to think about an Israel-Palestine solution. The situation was then made worse when the seven neighboring arab states refused to accept the Palestinians. There is a legitimate argument buried deep inside this issue, but the conflict we see today is almost completely of arab design.
I remember in college seeing Muslims Student Association and Hillel (and another Jewish organization) counter protesting each other. Not once did I ever see them say hi to each other or hug or anything that gave them a sign of peace. I hope for one day that there will be peace but both sides must be willing to give up something and both must be willing to play fair. I just don't think it will happen soon.

The Jewish people have been targets of racism for thousands of years. blood libels, pogroms, inquisitions and even a holocaust was waged against them. I think the majority of Israeli's would be willing to give up 9/10s of the land if they truly believed that would bring peace. But every single peace agreement falls through, partially bc the palestinians have this mantra- "not one inch to the jews". But if you look at Jerusalem- the holiest city to the jews only 1/4 is jewish, and their holiest site (not the western wall btw) the temple mount, is kept off limits for any Jew. Only muslims can go there. Can you imagine that happening in Mecca?

As a Palestinian-Canadian teenager (who is often mistakenly called Pakistani - I laughed at that) I think that a lot of the bias embedded in both sides is due to the past generations telling horror stories to today's youth. A solution can only be reached as the barriers of bias are removed and both sides begin to relate to each other. Both Palestinians and Israelis have some beautiful traditions and history, and some events that they may regret in hindsight. It's up to the youth to connect now.

I feel that this whole Palestine vs. Israel is deeply rooted in antisemitism. For example, I have yet to hear of one country recognizing the annexation of Golan Heights and West Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip and the West Bank are considered "occupied territories" as opposed to Israeli territories. If any other country had done this, the change in ownership would have been recognized.The world is just using Palestine as excuse to continue in their hatred of Jews.

Palestine was a scrubby wasteland that the Palestinians SOLD to the Israelis in pieces over many years. The Israelis worked their asses off and turned much of it into a garden state... so now the Palestinians (who even their brother Arabs didn't want) are screaming to have their "homeland" back. Palestinian Rule is the last thng the Palestinians that assimilated (and enjoy the health benefits, education system, jobs, and infrastructure) want. They'll fuck it up ~ always have, always will.

You forgot to mention that in 1947,Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and "Palestine" (non country at that time) all attacked Israel AT THE SAME TIME to try and wipe them out and take over the whole land.
Israel, on the other hand, agreed to the UN arrangement and simply defended its decided borders.

Israel has fought I believe six wars, and only one of those was started by Israel after proof that Egypt was going to attack. Israel cannot afford to go back to the 1948 borders because the Arab countries' opinions of Israel has not changed. They would not hesitate to attack again if Israel was reduced back to indefensible borders like the 1948 ones. I agree that a deal is the only way for lasting peace, but it is not an agreement that reduces Israel to being unable to protect itself.

I live in Israel (very close to the gaza strip) and I agree that there should be two countries... This video was made more than two years ago, and not much has changed. we had some quite times, but it's only temporary. We have some period that we have to stay close to the shelters. I hope our leaders will wake up soon and realize we (the Israeli and Palestinians) can't live like that for much longer...

If Israel gives up any more land than she has now, anywhere, it'll be a major security breach. The surrounding countries - or at least, most of them - refuse to consider the existence of Israel in any size or shape, and the more land she gives away the more she'll be at risk. Israel's number one priority is making sure her people are safe, because if they aren't, she'll have no people to make sure are safe. John, you forgot that Jordan was created immediately before Britain started to think about an Israel-Palestine solution. The situation was then made worse when the seven neighboring arab states refused to accept the Palestinians. There is a legitimate argument buried deep inside this issue, but the conflict we see today is almost completely of arab design.

I remember in college seeing Muslims Student Association and Hillel (and another Jewish organization) counter protesting each other. Not once did I ever see them say hi to each other or hug or anything that gave them a sign of peace. I hope for one day that there will be peace but both sides must be willing to give up something and both must be willing to play fair. I just don't think it will happen soon.

It's a video of Ron Paul explaining that Hamas whas set up by the Mossad (Israeli Intelligence) to counter and divide Arafat and the PLO (Palestinian Liberation Organisation). You pretty much forgot to mention the attacks, raids, bombings and terror Israel commits on Gaza and the West Bank. In my opinion the entire mandate should be reversed, and the Israelis should settle in a nice and peaceful place, maybe something like Oregon.

@maluse227 Yes, but then there was that issue with there being no new sounds for him to hear, so he wouldn't do the tilt for a while. And then I see this, and I'm listening to news about Israel and Palestine, but I'm picturing the muted sounds that must be going on in the background.

and its funny about slpitting jerusalum (sorry if i spelled that wrong)...i thought of that idea when the only thing i knew was the israel and pallestine hated each other, told my mom and she was like
"Pfft. We desrve it more than they do!"

This proves that it's only the conservitive muslims and the conservistive jews that are holding this plan back.

@milkyway531 Nobody wants Jerusalem shared. Only people who doesn't have nothing at stake wants it shared. People like you, who wouldn't want to share your own major cities anymore than Jews and Muslims.
But if you do want to share your cities, let's talk about Manhattan, shall we? I want it for the capital of my own Lenape independent state. Please stop building there.

@eladps Don't worry you were not harsh. I know that Israel is as humane as they can be. Israel is truly a greater country because of this. Unfortunately, most Americans don't see what Israel has sacrificed while trying to achieve peace. Thank you for clarifying what I tried to say earlier.

A shared Jerusalem is one of the most insanest ideas ever concoted by man. When has such travesty *ever* worked? There is *no* such arrangement in place today, and there will never be. It's stupid. Let Jerusalem to the Jews, London to the British and Mecca to the Arabs. Easy like that.

@NathanielBearMedia and if you know a thing or two about the israely wars you also know that we have a fairly humane army...as far as armies go... in the last war we actually compromised our own safety so that some palestinian civilians could be saved and a lot of the time they died because hamas wouldn't let them leave...not because the israely army intended to kill them.
all this is a courtesy never shown by hamas.
