Some or most young people can be fooled, but I have a good ear when it comes to Who sounds like Elvis. The best I have done was to have my voice compared with other sound a likes but claiming my voice as elvis. No one suspected my voice was not Elvis and yet all 10 people tested, claimed they could tell the difference between Elvis and the sound a likes. then I surprised them and told them the voice was not Elvis but me...heh!

Ronnie McDowell did the singing for ALL the Elvis TV Movies and Shows, starting with "ELVIS: The Movie" produced by Dick Clark and directed by John Carpenter. The OST was released on Vinyl in Canada, UK and AU. I recently replaced my Dad's old worn out copy rather cheaply from eBay. Also I found a great LIVE concert Elvis Tribute LP with Ronnie released that same year. I highly recommend both.

BACK IN 1979 ON A RADIO STATION IN DALLAS, THEY WERE PLAYING A SONG THOUGHT TO BE ELVIS SINGING WITH JERRY LEE LEWIS. THEY ASKED LISTENERS TO CALL IN AND SAY WHETHER IT WAS ELVIS OR NOT. I COULDNT BELIEVE HOW MANY WERE SAING IT WAS ELVIS....I CALLED IN AND SAID IT WAS NOT, DONT SOUND NOTHING LIKE ELVIS...TURNED OUT TO BE ORION...I LIKE ORION AND BOUGHT ALL HIS ALBUMS,BUT HE DIDNT FOOL ME...

@elvidom2 Orion did the best imitation of Elvis the way he sounded just before he died. I did a mix CD of his and Elvis' "Country" albums, alternating tracks. I love to play it for people who think they know Elvis and have them pick out when it's Elvis or Orion.However the best Elvis from 1950's-1970 is Ronnie.

Oddly enough Andy Kaufman did an impressive Elvis while he was still doing "Foreign Man" as his persona before they turned that into "Latka Gravas" on Taxi. He even did it on one of Johnny Cash's Christmas specials!

Ronnie Mcdowell is a Top Class Entertainer in his own right. I've seen him in concert twice and he only sang one Elvis song at each. He did It Hurts Me and introduced it only as a song written by Charlie Daniels. But the closest I've ever heard to the voice of Elvis was Dale Eli Culbertson.

He dont sound like Elvis but one thing is for sure. He comes as close as any one I ever seen. He also puts as much heart and pride in to his singing as Elvis if not more. He is one of the greatest singers I have ever heard. I said ONE OF THE GREATEST NOT THE GREATEST. bECAUSE THEIR ARE MANY MANY GREAT SINGERS IN THE WORLD. Too many to be a greatest. But I listen to the likes of Conway Twitty & Elvis and many others from the past and man there isnt much great music like back then. I am 31.

I really like'THE KING IS GONE' but Ronnie McDowell does not sound like Elvis..No one sounds like Elvis /that's why he was so great.people will always try to imitate him but will not be able to duplicate that great voice. Ronnie did have some very good hits of his own like 'walking thru Ga' and I Love you,I love You but to me he doesnt have 'THE RIGHT VOICE,CANT PUT MY FINGER ON IT BUT I JUST KNOW IT'S NOT RIGHT.he sure made a lot of money tho.I guess thats what counts..end

I saw Ronnie Mcdowell one time in concert. Everybody came to see him sing some of Elvis' hits. He sang two lines from "King Creole" I asked him after the show why he did not sing anymore Elvis songs, Ronnie Mcdowell replied, "Elvis did not sing any of my songs." I completely disagree. Ronnie sounds nothing like Elvis. He has an Elvis sound but doesn't sound exactly like Elvis. I have heard better - Jimmy Ellis, Johnny Harra and a few others. I like Ronnie but I hate when they say he is Elvis' double or sound close to the original. He doesn't in my opinion. Only one Elvis and shall ever be one Elvis.

Reading all of the below comments prompted me to say something. I've been an Elvis fan all my life. Never liked to hear or see anyone else sing his songs or try to look/act like him. I got to see the Elvis Connection about 3 weekends ago in Paducah, Ky. I took my Mom and was expecting to be dissappointed. Ronnie came out, he did sing Elvis' songs and some of his own. He was completely a CLASS ACT. Thanks Ronnie!!

Good, however, he does really mostly on copying Elvis. If he did not sing as Elvis he probably would not have had a good career. I have nothing bad to say about him, but reality is that he is very much considered the # 1 Elvis closest equal.
