  • hi i am planning on making a silicone baby and i was wondering if you had any kits what would be suitable ? thank you

  • @aidenn22 The Gel-10 starter kit is a good starting point. Sculpt your baby out of a block of Monster Clay, mold it with 1512 resin or 74-30 and cast away!

  • love these vids. I have a question, im doing a popeye short film and i want to make the arms out of latex or whatever is best, ive never done any of this before. how would you suggest me going about doing it?

  • @VALENTINEproductions That is going to be a very complicated process if you are new to this. We have more complete info on our DVDs on the webstore. You might want to start with a lifecasting dvd.

  • That look AWESOME! X-D Where did you get the bones from? I'm looking to do something like this for Halloween. :-)

  • @TheSpeakingWolf These bones were cast into a silicone mold using R5 rigid foam. We may post a video on just that process.

  • thanks for the tip man and i will try a platsil gel 10 face in stead

  • thanks i might make half of the head like just the fase

  • hey i am going to get the starter kit but can you make a head cast and fill it with platsil gel 10 and make a fake head?

  • @specialfxwiz87 Yes, you can, but it is tricky pouring something as large as a headcast full of silicone. Very risky.

  • If your hand was at a 90 degree angle, would you still be able to just slide it out of the mold, or would you need to break the mold to do it?

  • @MusicFeedsYourSoul You might have to make a cut in the alginate.

  • thanks -this vid was very good-im going to get a kit of gel-10,i,ve never used it beforeBity-mold carries everything i need, right?

  • @tuuexx As long as what you need is supplies for making spfx stuff in silicone, yes. If you want equipment to tune a piano or if you want a pet monkey we cannot help you.

  • @guvner777 An alginate mold can yield several casts, but it is not the best option. A fiberglass mold or a 1512 resin mold or a 74-30 mold would be better but there would be seams to chase.

  • What did you say that you use along with the pigments? sounded like flocking but i couldn't make it out, also where can i buy this from?

    Thanks

    Phil

  • this is a great video how did you make the mold of that hand in which you make the silicone hand tell me if you have the video of making that mold thanks

  • @pyasahaina The mold was made with alginate. Look up some of our lifecasting videos. We have several hand casting videos.

  • Hi and thanks for the great video. I have a couple of questions: firstly, what colour is the silicone if left untinted - clear? opaque? yellowish-clear, like ballistics gel? Secondly, how long will a silicone prop last, i.e. what is its shelflife and does it perish? I'm shooting a film in a few months and wondered when we can make a start on the monster effects. Thank you for your help.

  • @greigjohnson Gel-10 un-pigmented is a milky-translucent color. No yellow or amber cast to it. Cured Gel-10 is very stable and props made with it will last many years.

  • @brickintheyard Thanks very much. One other thing - is there a limitation of size that we can cast? Could we cast a soft, jellyfish-like 'creature' with tentacles, about the size of a chicken, in solid silicone?

  • @greigjohnson No limit since it does not air dry.

  • How do I make a thin lair of skin so I can place in gore to cut it up on film

  • @chukeism Mix up some Gel-10, add some pigment, add some Platthix, and brush it onto a clean surface.

  • and by the way, You say mix 12 oz of A and 12 oz of B. the starter kit only has 8 oz of each!

  • @SuperAzproductions This is a 2lb kit.

  • Can you also use the starter kit to make the head prop?

  • @SuperAzproductions The starter kit is just 1 lb of Gel-10 in squeeze bottles for ease of use. A head will take much more that the gel-10 that comes in a starter kit.

  • What ingredients did you use? Please tell me detailed names!

  • @SuperAzproductions Gel-10 is the silicone we used plus silicone pigments and TinThix thickener. All are available in our Gel-10 starter kit.

  • LOL at the "Arch-Rival in this world" comment

    :P

  • @Joxman2k Yes. Dang parrot...

  • @brickintheyard

My Arch-Nemesis is Gravity! He usually kicks the crap out of me when I'm really drunk :)

    :P

  • what Silicone do i buy from your site to make this hand? thanks so much. or what casting rubber would be good for the hand or other body parts? thanks

  • @lexusfann We used Gel-10 for this process.

  • Awesome! How do you make the Alginate mold?

  • @hanniesinwonderland See our other videos. We have that process covered elsewhere.

  • @hanniesinwonderland See our hand casting video.

  • How did you make / where di you buy The Form?

  • @faceknock Go to 5:35

  • I am 11 years old and I wanna make a blank silicone mask of my face. Could you tell me of a video that tells me that

  • @linkinparkman1234 Check out our Silicone face video.

  • You can mix in any combination of silicone colors to get the skin color you want but it has to be silicone based colors or you risk contaminating the mix.

  • would you put make up in the mix to make a darker skin tone?

  • @sluggar22 You can mix in any combination of silicone colors to get the skin color you want but it has to be silicone based colors or you risk contaminating the mix.

  • Is there any way you guys could put together a casting kit? With colours? Thanks, from the UK

  • Hi, thanks for your sharing, anyway, which brand of alginate you used? Because I tried to make a hand mold but that alginate power not work well as yours, I don't know is it because of the different brand or what. Thanks!!

  • @bananainass Accucast. It is a good, consistent, tough (by alginate standards) formula. We carry it in 4 set times.

  • Hi, thanks for your sharing, anyway, which brand of alginate you used? Because I tried to make a hand mold but that alginate power not work well as yours, I don't know is it because of the different brand or what. Thanks!!

  • ok, so would you be able to cast in the same way as the alginate or would you need to use a slightly different process to cast an arm?

  • Different process altogether. Time permitting we will post a video of that process.

  • is there another material which can be used instead of alginate to guarantee repeated casting of hands?

    thanks!

  • Gel-10 can be used to make a re-usable mold.

  • Can you apply Gel-10 directly on the skin, what preparations are needed and what is used to remove it from the skin when you are done.

  • Yes. Check our other videos that deal with Gel-10 lifecasting.

  • What type of Alginate did you use? How long do the alginate molds last? Do you have to spray anything in the alginate mold so it doesn't stick? Can you apply Gel-10 directly on the skin, what preparations are needed and what is used to remove it from the skin when you are done.

  • An alginate mold doesn't need any release. An alginate mold is temporary. As soon as the moisture starts to dry out the alginate mold will shrink and distort.

  • lol a little gose a long way with sillcon

  • Can this silicone mix be "brushed" onto limb (instead of filling in a cast) then peeled off and worn over a limb? I'm trying to make an ameture burn skin prosthetic.

  • Yes. Watch more of our videos on Gel-10 and you will see lots of possibilities.

  • Fascinating stuff. Can I use Alginate to cast with two part polyamide epoxy? (clear cast etc). I want to create a "lucite" hand. Thanks for all the great mold making vids.

  • alright ___thanks

  • truly awesome

but where do u find the flocking

  • It isn't on our webstore yet but you can call us to order it. The number is at the end of the video.

  • Could this only be done with addition cure silicones?

  • I have only done this with addition cure. Condensation cure is uncharted turf for me.

  • what would be the aprox cost of making a hand like that all included ?

  • The one in the video cost about $20 working from a gallon kit.

  • where cani get these kits at?

  • BITY Mold supply. The web address is at the end of the video as well as the toll free number.

  • you rock at making this kinda of stuff!!

  • Thank you.

  • ok i give up....what is flocking and where do I purchase? it looks like sawdust

  • Flocking is not on the webstore. I have 3 flavors in 4oz jars: red, flesh, and tan.

I sent you some samples with your order and no, it is not sawdust:)

  • Hi, I am getting ready to order these materials to try my hand at the "HAND." Can you tell me where I can get this flocking from? Thx

  • makes me wonder if the same process could be used to make affordable prosthetic fingers
