  • The average american is the one who needs help. We are tax slaves, we are taxed for everything under the sun. The corporation known as the THE UNITED STATES takes advantage of everybody, not just native americans. Can you imagine what all our ancestors would think about paying for water and then being taxed for it?

  • @brainerdrebel Yea the be amazed of the quality of the drinking water that we have. They also would be amazed of the sewer system and have no problem for you paying taxes to provided the services rendered. They were not against taxes, just the way they were done with out representation.

  • Which chemical in our drinking water would our ancestors be amazed, fluoride (originally rat poison, read the warning on your tooth paste) Chlorine (bleach), lead, lime, industrial waste, human sewage, etc. My sewer tax originally was to build the system and the tax would end, we all know how that goes. I hope Anthony Weiner, Charlie Rangle, Barney Frank or John McCain represent you, what a joke. We have non-representation. Wake Up!

  • @brainerdrebel Really? Must be a tea partier. They are the only ones who seem to take liberty with the history and structure of government. You do realize that one the only thing Federal is the amount of those things you sighted can be allowed in your water, right? You do realize that the water you drink and pay for is responsiablity of the local government right? Chances are that the taxes are sales tax, guessing cause my water isn't taxed. Unless its bottled.

  • Brainerdrebel is a Constitutionalist. The document that limits the federal governments authority. You are right the taxes on my water are local. The combinations of local state and federal taxes have made us all poor, Rich. The federal government controls the EPA and regulations that cause the local water company to tax me. Which party are YOU? Look at what the mainstream (pun) parties, they have combined to ruin our Union. Clinton passed NAFTA, Bush and Obomba has raised the debt.

  • @brainerdrebel Just to let you know if you are taxed on water, I am not. Then it must be the local or state governments doing. WHich if that is the case, then none of the people you cited would be involved in that. Just for you to know. The items you cited in the water are there, but that better than drinking water right out of the river and it a whole lot better to do then or even 30 years ago.

  • this is where i lIve and breath..

  • white people make me sick

  • @tainoculture Thats a shame on you.

  • haha part cherokee

  • Southwestern Indian Foundation will supply wood stoves etc from donations & sales of their items.I think they are legit though Christian.I haven't been on the Navajo rez in 40 years & frankly the homes in this video are far nicer, yes much nicer than what I remember.

  • could anybody go to a reservation to help out??

  • As a child I was raised proud of my Heritage by my father. I was raised with Navajo spiritual beliefs and values but later following my parents divorce Christianity was forced down my throat. I wish I could remember the teachings of my father. My true faith falls on rituals and beliefs I can no longer remember. Be careful not to forget who you are and give respect to your ancestors. Teach your children the Navajo way and don't be corrupted by Christian doctorine just because you got a new bed.

  • it would've been cool when these guys were around when i was younger.

  • Thanks for helping my people

  • you people should try to save your own people before you try to save natives!

  • Since I am part Cherokee, I think I am.

  • Lalo hosha kilimpi

  • the navajo did alot to help this great nation! and people make it look like the white man did it!the navajo needs more credit!

  • the navajo did alot to help this great nation! and they make it look like a white man saved us!we need to give the navajo more credit!

  • im going to the navajo reservation in new mexico in about a month!!!!

  • Why do you have to use "christian doctrine" to help native peoples.

They were doing just fine before they heard about religious books. There is a long history of the church and missionaries "helping" the native peoples.

Just go and help them as fellow Human Beings... not as prospective christians.

Jesus may be the way for you, but allow all peoples to follow their own spirituality.

  • couldnt of been said better!

  • Very few Christians seem to be aware that our native people need to be ministered to just as desperately as other people groups. THanks for making this video available to a host of viewers. We ministerd on the Navajo Rez for awhile and fell deeply in love with these people. They could teach us a lot.

  • Let others know about the Navajo and it's Nation.

  • it's so fantastic, the music, the vid.... all

  • thanks for the help

  • this is awesome, great job helping others in great need.

  • Wow what a great song for this. We should always be his hands and his feet!

  • AJI team you have a big heart! God must have sent you to do his work. May God bless AJI team! May you all walk in beauty. 5/5

  • If we truly lived what Jesus taught, then we be doing something. I pray everyday, I lead by example, Everyday I fail at one point but one day I will get it right,

  • casting crowns ..always covering the board with meaning in all walks of life.

  • What a wonderfull video and such a great message.. Its time to care for one another no mater race or religion..

  • I agree, beautiful video and big heart.

  • Your video is beautiful, as is your good heart. I wish you good things poorrich.

  • Thank you.

  • While that is somewhat true, I dont think you understand thier point. The U.S. government is bending over backward to accomidate undocumented immigrants, while completly ignoring the phlight of some of the Native Americans. At least that is what I understood his comment to be.

  • Good morning poorrich. I would like to point out the govt is responsible for the plight of the Navajo and others. Their actions have nothing to do with the immigration issue, history proves that. It is an American tradition to exploit the resources of Indian land with no concern of the terrible effects it has on the people. There are 520 abandoned uranium mines on Navajo land.4 new mines were approved in 2006, 2 in Church Rock 2 in Crownpoint, despite the Navajo ban on uranium minning.

  • Yes, I agree fully with you. While there is no direct connection between the two issues, there is one. The American Public sees the immigration and want action, while most are unaware of the uranium ordel or the fight over water rights.

  • The American public's fight should be directly with the government and their ecomonic policies that are ruining the lives of so many, don't you agree?

  • It is a shame the American govt has continued to abuse the Navajo people for the resources on their land. It is a shame the American people allow this to happen happen to them. The number one threat to the Navajo's is the government of this country, who since it's inception have been infected with the sickness of greed.

  • It just not the government, it is the people as a whole. I live in Indiana, and you would not believe how clueless most of the easterners are. I have had to battle biggots. THey think that if you are not happy you should move. They have no clue on the signifigance of the land or the broken promises of this government.

  • I agree. Americans as a whole are clueless about ALL issues related to Native Americans. We lived on the Navajo Rez for a year and came to love these people dearly. Mining is a HUGE issue to them and should be to the rest of us white eyes. How can we get the information about the mining and its effects on our native brothers and sisters to the rest of America? Surely there is SOMEONE that has the resources to do this!

  • @txstikr77 you have a very kind heart towards the native people. for sure mining is a huge problem because some people are taking all they want from there and some don't even consider them as AMERICANS.

  • I would say thank you, but we don't do enough. THere is so much that could be done if only we could or would.

  • I love it.... it's one of my favorites vids in youtube... it's so awesome... it makes me smile...i wish, i were there... sorry when my english isn't so good. ;) but this vid is really great =) i like it !!! ♥ and i'm very interesstet in indians :P

  • Within the Navajo Nation are some of the most beautiful people in our country. Kind, loving, willing to help, willing to share. I say thank you to the Navajo Nation for sending your people to help this country during times of war. The navajo have a rich culture and history. The Navajo Nation have my respect. They have made a difference in our lives by helping our country. God's blessing on those who go on missions to help those in need.

  • just watchin this makes me more proud to be a navajo

  • AS you should. The Navajo have a rich culture and history that needs to be told. There is never never any reason not to be proud of who you are.

  • I just wanna say ....For mi your People are the real owner from this land my respect.

  • would like to comment on other peoples comments that I thought were great.

I like riverkee's comment "Navajos are much richer in culture & in their own values"

very very true but us Navajos dont see that anymore-we are influenced on what we watch on television and thats a big problem here on the Navajo Reservation. We are trying to live a lifestyle that is around us which is okay but we need to keep our culture and values in mind.

  • I believe the way to keep our culture alive is through the native language. I'm only half blood but my dad was full and he spoke the native tongue, taught by his dad. I feel I have not much room to speak because I am not a full blood but it's my culture too.

  • It's honorable to want to help others. However, have you ever stopped to ask if you are imposing your own materialistic values on a culture that might be perfectly content with their lifestyle? There are no Jones' to keep up with on the reservation. I do realize you did more than supply things. I only ask because people's first perception of the Rez is that the people are poor. But Navajos are much richer than that in culture and in their own values.

  • Yes, I have asked that question many of times to myself. It is important to not interfer with any customs or way of life. When Thesefolksrecieved the new beds the look in the eyes tell me more. I have talked to many and find they appricate the help, especially since I expect nothing in return. I have gotten morefrom them than I can repay. I now work to insure all peoplr are treated with respect.

  • you cant tell me that people are not concerned about having there needs met like food.water.shelter.clothing.medical and dental needs.electricity,if your hungry or really sick or cold you aint thinking about how wonderful your culture is,you are being dishonest with yourself my brother

  • very very good moving! From duke indian jewelry & leather crafts japan

  • a good way to help all indigenous people is to tell people the truth.the truth about christopher columbus, and how america is founded on genocide and lies.tell them about the people that were alreay here and the savages that came on boat.this will do better than any steps you build, but i do respect you guys for not being fully blind.

  • i don't know many people, and i'm not just speaking natives, who don't already know about that history. i do know of a lot of people who don't care either way, and that is just as damaging for both sides.

  • I know you can relate to this that kids wonder why they have to learn history. I feel that they are never told correctly how it effects them today and how to avoid mistakes from the past. History is a record that should teach each generation the rights and wrongs on doing things. Yet, that is a pie in the sky thought, we ssem to make the same mistakes regardless of history.

  • Wow, you showed some nice parts of the rez, I'm sure you saw worse than the pictures here...good luck correcting broken treaties, but don't think builind more cardboard houses is how to correct the wrong-- no one can truly help the Dine until everyone recognizes the problems, because help and protection for the culture has to come from a much larger scale- not just Christians converting people to Christ.

  • U.N.I.T.Y. is going to Oklahoma this summer of 2007. Natives from all over the nation will be there. Come share your culture, and meet new peopel. Their will be dances and games. Their will also be educational workshops for college and health. Last year famous native actor Adam Beach came. Come see who will come this year. Visit unityinc. org for more information. Hope to see you there. I'm going:)

  • thank you!

  • this video is very important! for myself, i cannot believe in a god, who let those things happen... here in germany i tell people again & again about these things happen to the dine and videos like this can help! And People like you can help!

  • very moving,,,

  • Thats what we called... CODE HELPER... You are all beautiful for helping those people..it may have been late but not sorry. Thank U again & again.

  • Thanks for sharing this video and helping my people. It touched me deeply. Good people like you MAKE a differnce in people's lives and Thank God for People like you. We need more people like you in this world.
