  • @ronaldli5 The only thing i can tell you, is that in Skirmish and Multiplayer (in Forged Alliance) Nuclear Missile Launchers take 10 minutes to make, and that if you only use one engeneer.

  • @joshua41175 At the time i made V1.1, the Regular Seraphim nuke was not tweaked at all, so i did not show it. Now that 1.5 is WiP, when in Release it, i will make a video, of the new features.

    But when it comes to the vid, the bases i made are just there to be demonstrate the radius of the nuke, and basically if you examine then the structure paterns make absolutely no sense.

    Second, if you dont have a Mods folder in the directory Of your FA, create one.

  • it would be better to test-detonate on a location without any volatile units/structures....or else the true effect of the bomb is somewhat unclear

    The whole mod is about changing the behaviour of the nuke not its effect.

  • Btw is it possible to create a "third" ring to the already existing 2 damage rings of a nuke? And if yes it is possible to add a stun effect to it and make it 50% larger than the outer damage ring? so enemies far away of the explosion which are just hit by the shockwave wouldnt receive any damage (or at least just 2% of the damage they take in the middle of the explosion) but get stunned for about 10 secs. due to the falldown causing radio signal loss for a short time.

  • @Earthplayer Unfortunately, the game features 2 damage radiuses. The Inner and the Outer. What i have done, is, that in the vicinity directly beneath the Nuke (imagine an area the size of the fireball) everything recieves damage instantly, and is annihilated like in a real nuke. Then , the outer radius, starts where the inner ended, and progresses dealing with a particular amount of damage. As far as i am concerned, you cant make a third damage radius.

  • @Earthplayer The only thing i can do, is to make the inner radius a lot larger, and decrease its damage to something like 500 or so, and then make the other radius follow the shockwave. Though, if i do so, the buildings directly beneath the nuke, will not be destroyed instantly. I Had a really hard time syncronizing the outer radius with the visual effect of the UEF nuke, and still its not perfect.

    kk, will you make a version 1.5 or is this the final? :) I would love to see a stun effect for 10 or 15 seconds ontop of the damage so the surviving units wont look like they just got hit by a normal weapon but by a devastating one. (in my opinion it would be a normal effect if an experimental gets hit that hard that it's reactors and engines fail for a few moments after collide with the shockwave).

  • @Earthplayer Well, adding effects is another story. There are many things which I consider possible for an upcoming release. For example, a good idea is an EMP blast that affects a huge radius for 30 seconds or so, and another more difficult idea, is to make the damage progressive. (so that as the shockwave expands, the damage dealt gets lesser and lesser, but something like that is not that easy to implement. I am not even sure if it is possible in the particular game.)

  • @Earthplayer Though be aware that I want my mod to be relatively Balanced. (Defence has been tweaked and so on) so I cant make dramatically large radiuses.) Also having a nuke that does a little damage at a large radius (your initial idea) can bring out problems such as, Power Plant explosion chain reaction, in a way that the oponent base will be decimated by his own buildings (unfair) , or having a radius that goes beyond the one of the anti nuke, so you can infact destroy it.

  • Yes, it has a wider radius. I did that to make it more different than the other nukes.

    But I was wondering, did you change the nuke animations for the different factions? Or are these the ones that are from the game itself? Cuz when I'm playing I don't notice any difference from the 3 human factions nukes. And when I watched this video, i noticed that they are a bit different.

  • OOps, sorry my bad i did not get the message correctly. If you are saying that all the 3 faction human nukes look the same, you will have to reinstall the mod. Delete your mods folder, run the game once with no mods, and then, remake and install the mod and everything will be fine.

  • Ok, I discovered that a mod called '4th dimension' was the one causing the glitch and not this mod. Apparently, that mod turns all nuke missiles into UEF missiles. :(

  • Oh i see. Its not the first time this happened. It seems that after all my Mod is not compatible with 4th dimension. But naturally 4th dimension does not change the effects of the nukes. It seems that together with my mod, things get confused. :S

  • There are not any visual differences. The Nuke effects (meaning the results of the explosion) are totally altered.

    ... i havent found the perfekt nuke mod yet :( i want to have an extreme epic super nuke bomb... the radius should not change so much. but the visual style should look more powerfull

  • Ok thats fine!

    In order to get a Nuke silo you have to upgrade your factory/commander to Tech3. After you upgrade to Tech3 get an engineer and start building the Strategic Mussile Launcher. Though you need resources to do so. After that, when the nuke is ready you will be able to launch it.

  • If you have installed it correctly (just put it in your mods folder) enable it in the mod manager, and then just play the game and build a Nuke silo. After you do that just fire a nuke and you will see :-D

  • Nope. You are wrong. The nukes are ingame, but they are not doing that much damage. The radius of the nukes in the mod is increased, and i also tweaked some other stuff, so that they act (NOT LOOK) more like a real nuke. The range of the anti nukes is also increased, so that the game is balanced and i also tweaked build times and costs.

  • That camera angle at 2:00 is badass. Missile defense still works against these correct? Will any amount of shields work? Also, for the Seraphim did you use one of their nukes or their experimentals? Do they both get the bonus?

    OF course, the missile defence is now recalibrated for the updated nuke ( Bigger radius) so the game is balanced.

    The seraphim nuke seen in the vid is the experimental one.

  • I downloaded your mod and in the read me you said that you're willing to take suggestions? Well i got one the EMP pulse in real bombs i was thinking the EMP pulse would affect everything of all players on the whole map for a little time. and yeah the bombs gotta be bigger!!

  • The EMP idea is quite good, and i might implement it ! For something like a min all the structures of all players will be disabled. I dont wanna make to bombs bigger, because of balance issues. Also the explosion radius of the standard nuke is perfeclty matched with the UEF explosion's shockwave. Making it bigger would be exaggerated...

    But the EMP idea is really good !

    (they shall decrease the recommented PC stats since the actual ones are not correct for next supcom ^^)

  • RAM is not the most important when it comes to Supreme Commander... You need mostly a really good GPU and then a good CPU, Then RAM comes in...

  • heh! SITREP: The data is attacking me and i am pinned down. The Algorithm's troops are denying to show a nice fucking result! BUT! i am trying to remain alive despite the massive brutal attacks of some "forged Files!" OK, in other words i am still working on it, but somethings just make my mind blackout!     As for the mod, first of all, what i am trying to do (all the effects Etc) is reeeeeaaaaaalllly difficult. Whats more, imagine that in order to check if the effects are working i have to start the game every time i make a lil change. There are lots of files that i have to modify for each nuke (shockwave emmiters, effects, particles), and right now (these weeks) i am really busy with tests and stuff like that. SO , be patient.

  • the link for the mod is on the description. To use the mod, exract the "Realistic Nukes" Folder in your mods folder located on the directory of your game.

  • Here are my ideas: AEON NUKE: when the missile goes off, a bright flash occurs (as it is now) and a shockwave (that distorts the air) is created as the fireball is increasing in size. I might iplement some of your ideas too about the AEON NUKE.

    Cybran : The nuke goes off in mid air, and it creates and intense flash. After that a thick fireball with a concution wave around stats to rise up in the air and as it goes highier and highier, it creates more rings above it.

    All I didn´t get were the fireball(what fireball? There is no fireball like thing atm) and the rings.

    (know what rings you meant, but I want to know HOW you meant the rings are "above" cause all the rings above the ball would seem ... weak somehow =/ )

    I could have gotten it wrong but I think the ball should rise above one or two of these rings just to create a good look
