  • thanx a lot for this insight man i really wanted to learn the basics of this language

  • Watashi no nawa Monkey D. Luffy Dess. =)

  • I think my friend is getting frown lines :)

  • easy

  • Watahi wa L desu

  • Joined a few websites to learn Japanese. When i message a male Japanese person to ask something, he ignores. I ask a female, she maybe feels nervous.......thinking im some kinda weirdo of something, then ignores too.

    I decided to learn Chinese.

  • @Finchaviary what kind of stuff did you ask them?? I want you to keep on learning Japanese. with my help if you need :)

  • @FiredEmpire Thanks alot............very very kind of you. Asked just the usual, how to say 'Hello, how are you', stuff like that. Not bad stuff, im English...not Turkish.

  • @Finchaviary I know youre English. why did you bring up Turkey? anyway don't pay any mind to that !

  • To all Metal Gear Solid fans: Just remeber the "La-Li-Lu-Le-Lo" for the five vowel sounds

  • Why learn to speak Japanese? When japan sinks most of them will come here. And they will have to learn to speak English. Oh wait , no one has to do that anymore. Imigrants dont have to learn to speak English like the French and the Germans and the Italians and others did when thay came to this country. Would someone please pas the tacos.

  • Arigatou for helping me learn this langange because i am Eigo i hope to go too Nihon someday

  • For me its easyer to learn because in estonia we pronounce some stuff similarly tho the language is totally different (for english people its hard to learn estonian i think)

  • WOW weird but all the words that are here I have read them like i would read them in my own language which Rumanian and i actually got them right without hearing the audio cues.

  • what's the difference between "domo" and "arigatou"?(dad has worked with 3 japanese companies. and been to japan 3 times. so, I picked up a few words)

  • @wheeler1 arigatou is "thank you",when ad the "domo" part in front "arigatou" (domo arigatou) you obtain "thank you very much" so domo is pretty much a way to show respect to someone who it helped you at something.(At least from what i know)

  • ARIGOTOU

  • I can speak pretty good japanese but i struggle with kanji.

  • 語学は基礎は勉強が必要だけどリスニングとか話すときなんかは勉強でやるより、生で話したり 好きな歌を聴いて覚えたほうがものすごく上達が速い! 興味あるもののほうが早く覚えられるから自分は洋楽聴いたりしてたら 英語耳は結構上達しました☆

  • arigatou

  • do you teach casual or formal japanese

  • I love these vids!! Thank you!

  • Sugoi

  • Kana Attack on the iPad is a great game for learning the basics!

  • The practical Japanese language is different from Japanese language of the textbook (schoolbook).

Japanese people often omits the subject word, So foreigners often mistranslate.

For example, there are many translators who can't distinguish " I " and "YOU" correctly.

Furthermore, in Japanese, an object word is also often omitted.

If you hope to master Japanese, you need the understanding for discovering "the omitted words."

  • cool = kakkoii, sugoi, suteki, subarashii,

    amazing = sugoi, odorokubeki, subarashii,

    great = sugoi, idai-na, subarashii,

    wonderful = suteki-na, subarashii,

handsome = ikemenn, hannsamu, kakkoii, nimaime,

    cute = kawaii,

    lovely = kawairashii, airashii,

    charming = miryokuteki-na, suteki-na, kawairashii,

  • Do you guys have anything that helps with practicing listening for intermediate level?

  • the particle "に" means the existence of something

    for an instance,

My father is staying in Chonqing for business.

    =私の父は仕事で重慶"に"居ます。

but u said "anything learned in life" right?

in such a case, the particle "で" is proper

    T : 人生"で"学んだこと

    F : 人生"に"学んだこと

if u use "に" in this context,it does not mean "anything learned in life" but just like "anything taught by life"

  • @FloatOnTheWater ah i see, that clarifies it. thankyou!!

  • @GenerationDarkness

    ur welcome

  • @FloatOnTheWater so basically if i were to correct my last sentence, it would be something like ""僕は何でもが人生で習った事も大切と信じます"

does 何でも or 何事も works better (i found 何事も in a online dictionary)? also, can 生命 replace 人生 in this context?

    thankyou!

  • @GenerationDarkness

i think it gets better than before but has some needless particles

if i corrected it with the order of the sentence kept,it would be as the following :

    僕は何でも人生で習ったこと"は"大切だと信じます。

it seems that u r not so good at using particles

"何でも" and "何事も" have almost the same meaning, they r different in formality, that is,the former is informal like conversations with a friend and the latter is formal like official documents or quotations

  • @FloatOnTheWater no, its just i used も in place of はis because my original English meaning of the sentence is "i believe anything learned in life is ALSO important" (note the capital word) since sometimes も can replace other particles right?

  • @GenerationDarkness

    oops sorry

then "also" can be translated into "も" in Japanese

    また、僕は何でも人生で習ったことは大切だと信じます。

the previous sentence is the natural translation

in this case,"also" can certainly become the particle "も",however,"anything" has already been translated into "何でも"

so if u construe ur sentence,it will become like the following :

    何でもも人生で習ったことは大切だと信じます。

    but this sentence is unnatural

then, recall that "also" is parallel,so it can be "また"

  • @FloatOnTheWater for example "i want coffee too" can be written as 私もコーヒーです” which can also mean "i'm also coffee". am i right?

  • @GenerationDarkness

yes it is correct to a certain extent

but "i'm coffee too." is not correct

the sentence "私もコーヒーです。" omits its verb "欲しい",that is,the exact from is :

    私もコーヒーが欲しいです。

but Japanese doesn't like repeating the same verb like other languages thereby the speaker omits the verb "欲しい"

  • @FloatOnTheWater

    * the exact FORM is

  • @FloatOnTheWater i see i see. that makes more sense.

  • @GenerationDarkness

and speaking about the word life,u know the meaning of it here is one's life

but the term "生命",which u used,is usually used as the following :

    獣医師は重傷のカワウソの生命を救った。

= The veterinary saved the life of an otter injured deeply.

hence u should use "人生",it is natural

  • @GenerationDarkness

    well...sorry my description was incomplete

thats cause the case maker "に" alludes a passive agent here, such usages of "に" r like the following sentences :

    この前友達"に"蹴りを入れられた。

=I was kicked BY a friend the other day.

    最近飼ってる猫に無視されるんだ。

=I am neglected BY my cat these days.

then "人生に学んだあらゆること(sorry i forgot translating ANYthing into Japanese)" is accordingly translated into "anything taught by life" and its meaning is the same as "anything taught in life"

  • @FloatOnTheWater so basically, if you use the に as a passive source target, the verb followed by it is most likely a potential conjugation verb? example: 食べる becomes 食べられる?

  • @GenerationDarkness

    yes ur interpretation is correct

  • @FloatOnTheWater ok thanks. thanks for all your help!

  • @GenerationDarkness

the verb learn is not proper in this sentence cause,if i used it it would be "anything leaned by life" and the meaning of the sentence would be different, that is,the relationship between the subject and the object would be the reverse

hence i decided to use "teach" instead of "learn" and "人生に学んだこと" became "anything TAUGHT in life"

  • is this casual japanese?

  • よくこんなマイナーな言語学ぼうと思うよね

    アニメを母語で見れる以外用途が見当たらない

  • @FloatOnTheWater 日本語の初心者だけど、それでも習わないべきの意味じゃないか?僕は何事もが生命に習ったも大切に信じます。

  • @GenerationDarkness

sorry but unfortunately,i couldn't see what u would say cause ur Japanese seemed as bad as my English

anyway i understand u have positive feelings toward Japanese

  • Comment removed

  • @FloatOnTheWater I'm sure there's only minor errors here and there. like i said, I'm a beginner right?

  • Comment removed

  • @FloatOnTheWater the sentence "僕は何事もが生命に習ったも大切に信じます" was suppose to be "i believe anything learned in life is (also) important", i guess, that didnt come out right.

  • Comment removed

  • @FloatOnTheWater i guess i needed to replace the に to を before the 信じます..

  • @GenerationDarkness

am gonna tell u the correct sentence :

    人生に於いて学んだことは何でも大切だと信じている。

  • @GenerationDarkness

u know u can omit the subject when the doer is obvious

  • @FloatOnTheWater i see.. what does 於いて mean?

  • @GenerationDarkness

it is equal to the following prefixes : "at","on" and "in"

  • @FloatOnTheWater okay thanks but doesn't に have the same function? o.o

  • 私が日本からではないですので、私に家の保険を販売しようとして停止してください

  • @SuperMetroid4567 I would write it "kyou mo ichinichi ii hi de sugoshite kudasai." (there isn't a real standard in romaji--Japanese tend to write like you wrote it) It means something like, "Today also, Have a good day."

  • @thejapanshop ahh, arigato gozaimasu! (^.^)

  • @thejapanshop ummmm i need more help...... sorry if its any trouble. but could u tell me what " yoko wakaranai doiuokoto" and " kangaeru anime desuyone?" much appreciated.

  • I have a question about the word "deki" when its standing alone what does it mean and does it have a different meaning in hiragana katakana and kanji?

  • this is a good video but yup genki means energetic. cool video this helped me alot

  • oyasuminasai..

  • sugoiiiiiiiii

  • arigatou!

  • Japanese, like Italian, is very phonetic. Really easy to learn to read, write, understand and speak.

  • if you say i kile cats(neko ga suki) do you say i like dogs like this: Inu ga suki

  • @mollituse yes, but you are missing a "desu" at the end lol.

  • ARIGATO GOZAIMASU ^_^

  • Also, and this is just a tip, you might want to mention the fact that "ganbarimasu" and "ganbatte" aren't nouns. They're tenses of the verb "ganbaru" which means "to do your best". "Ganbarimasu" is the polite present form of the verb and "ganbatte" is the impolite form. Though what you say is quite true, it might confuse people when they randomly use it when they're really in Japan, right?

  • @XFallenAngel010X actually ganbatte is not a tense but a ~te conjugation of the word ganbaru, which is used to combine with other words to form expressions, in a way.

  • Instead of "Kore wa nan desu ka?" you can also change the "nan" into "nani" right? Or doest that change the meaning of the sentence?

  • @XFallenAngel010X essentially nan = nani, just different reading and/or is a acronym for nani.

  • ekadasumus <--- if not right spelling my bad but meaning for this word is somthing to do with breakfeast or dinner or somthing u say it before u eat or somthin

  • @jardyisdabest itadakimasu is what it's called and it means thanks for the meal

  • does 'ka' have any kanji/romaji/hiragana?

  • Do Chinese have the SOV sentence structure too?

Because both Korean and Japanese use the SOV sentence structure...so I was just curious...

    Arigatou!

  • @96music4eva chinese is SVO same with english

    我愛你= I love you

    我(I)愛(love)你(you)

  • @oceanvioletblue Jinjjah?? That's soo neat! ^^

  • Reasons why I want to learn Japanese

My friends are Japanese [ ]

I want to learn it for fun [ ]

I'm going to Japan and need to learn some words [ ]

    Anime (especially Bleach) [xxxxxxxxx]

  • ah that person saying the good morning stuff sounds like fyuumui

  • Good thing for me to learn Japanese is I am a Chinese! The kanji of Japanese is almost the same of Chinese!

  • my steps to learn japanese is knows the basic kana like hiragana and katakana (know some kanji will also helps).

know what is the arrangement of verb, adjective or something like that in japanese sentence. recognize all the paricles, memorize some japansese words and the most important is to do a lot of self-practice.

  • I already know this stuff, but very infrequently have I had this much respect for a YouTube video.

  • Really helpful video

  • Yay! I can learn it by myself now! Stupid school dun teach Japanese xD

  • domo! this will help alot for me,there is no japanese class in my school so i am learning it on my own o(^w^)/

  • @roquemyracle127I'm glad your learnign japanese on your own! If you want easy simple and comprehensive japanese lessons with more explanation and easier, CHECK OUT MY JAPANESE LESSON PLAYLIST

  • ありがとうございます。あなたと私は今、日本語が堪能ですYouTubeで多くの人に感謝します。

  • Thank you very much, Mr. Roboto.

  • Arigato!!!!!!:)

  • many words came from portuguese like arigatou from portuguese obrigado :D

  • Yay i has learned! :3 seriously did learn some intersting facts though! SOO much cool stuff is from japan. :) thnx for upload!!

  • the "u" is silent right because thats what i always hear in this video most of the time

and in anime such as itadakimau if im spelling it right. the "u" is silent. same as arigatou

  • @blaby4ever It really isn't silent. To the Japanese ear, it is always there. In some cases (in songs and overly polite language), the "u" is clear as in words such as "deSU" and "gozaimaSU." But in casual or normal speech, it at least sounds like it is silent even though the speaker has the "u" in mind.

  • @thejapanshop .... Practicing HR in Japan. Follow me on twitter @HR4girl and I'll follow u back :-)

  • is funny how i wanted to learn japanese so bad so i started to learned it but ended up learning korean ?

  • Anime helps too :3

  • This helped heaps! You should do a video about everyday conversations, yeh?

  • I'm japanese.

    japan (english)

    Nihon or Nippon (japanese)

    5:57

  • Thank you!

  • I love this.

  • woot, on my way to watching Fairy Tail without needing to look at the subs!

  • ありがとーございます!! All of these phrases are commonly use in Japanese anime...now I understand about the word and how they are place in a sentence...now I need is more word like nouns, verbs, and adjective.

  • Why does the monologue doesnt pronounce the "u" sound in some Japanese words?

  • @thirdee31612 it's there, but native japanese don't usually pronounce it, especially when its at the end of a word. like desu sounds like des, tabemasu sounds like tabemas, so on

  • In english it would be: I'm bread peat lol :D

  • Yay! pan is the same word in spanish!
