This movie was Epic I saw it in fillmsi.co.cc with my mom even she thought It was awesome. Okay, this is pretty good... This movie is epic. This movie was amazzing. Go see it. It's definitely worth the time.

The racism isn't over the top. For Clint's character, the racism is a defense mechanism. He forces himself to believe that Asians are different from him in order to make his unwarranted killing of a Korean man acceptable, bearable.

However, you can see that he's not convinced since he's still haunted by it half a century later. As he familiarizes himself with his Asian neighbors, that guilt just grows stronger.

i love how Clint Eastwood did this movie. and being hmong it meant a lot to let everyone see the different cultures that are out there. just because we're Asian doesn't mean that we're chinese or japanese. so i liked this move to a certain point. but this movie was kinda based on the average hmong family.

this movie has one main character you did not talk much about, but his role with Walt is the entire reasoning behind the tragic ending. Walt could not confess to the PRIEST about his past at war, he ENJOYED it too much., He went overboard -one scene admitted that. He remained guilty and bitter and could not forgive himself.....he choose to die in the end for a purpose though. That was for the familly next door. He could have commited suicide..but that would have been the easy way out!

It is dangerous and foolish to venerate or adore an actor or its character in a movie. Many people in real life are much more credible and sincere. If anyone out there is considering pointing a gun at someone, you could be arrested. This movie in particular just reeks with implausable sequences, bad acting, miscasting, and generally, portrays Eastwood as indistructable once again.

If that is the reason that the movie was overlooked cause of the racism, (in my opinion) it was a poor reason. Wether we want to believe it or not racism is reality. Be nice to see him in another good movie but would not want to see his last career movie be a failure either. So if this is his last movie it is a great way to end his career as opposed to a movie that would not be so popular.

no, his son played the white wanna-be thug who was walking home from school with the asian girl. i hope eastwood reconsiders and do one last film. this film should not be his last. it is very apparent that it really shouldn't be. i am hmong and do not agree totally on how they portray the hmong culture and actions in the film. the writing really wasn't so great, and the acting mediocre at best. eastwood should've took more time over all to do the film. this film had potential.

Overlooked at the Oscars is shameful. The racial overtones probably hurt the voters opinion, but I thought it brought a true realism to the film.

This movie was deficient in all qualities of quality movie making. Clint's decision to shoot in 5 weeks with a cast full of non-actors was just ignorant. And I'm HUGE Eastwood fan. The performances were AWFUL, i mean truly just bad. The story overall was lackluster and exploitative of racism without any characters. congratulations you wrote extracted a full-length screenplay from a racial joke on a bathroom stall

Those newbies made me feel for tao and sumi when then were victimized. Those newbies playing the antagonists made me hate their gangsta punk fagget selves. So did they do their job of making me connect to the characters? I think so! 5*

Eastwood is on fire with his last 4-5 films. I saw this film yesterday. Some may take exception to some of the racist epethets contained within but if you just focus on that, you are missing the point of the movie. This was the best movie I have seen in a while. Do go to see it if you dont like movies that make you think, this one has no CGI effects to "entertain" you.

Nobody ever mentions this but Clint Eastwood has never had any monster-sized hits. He seems to continue to work though. I respect the man, he's been in the biz forever and ever. But, I can't really get into his films because they're too slow and dull for me. Even his 'so-called' tough guy flicks aren't that exciting and have the same slowness that is in all his films.
